The part where he just casually sang Hunting High And Low in the train was the first time I realized his voice is truly unique and beautiful.

In the song " The Blue Sky " ( from the " Hunting High & Low " 1,985 ) I hear a strong, clear & really HIgh voice of Morten. In the song " Celice " from anorher record I find him Impressive .. to say the least .. ! 👣

at 3:40 is Bosnia Tune, poem written by Joseph Brodsky, Joseph won the Nobel Prize laureate for literature in 1987. This song is in the 2nd Morten's solo album Wild Seed. at 5 is Vuggevise (Lullaby in English) it's in the 3rd Morten's solo album whose is in Norwegian. Vuggevise is the Norwegian version of Lay Me Down Tonight, you also find it in Wild Seed.

And yes, he should have been an opera singer, but he was a "wild seed" way back in the beginning....the history of the band and his voice is really incredible and thought provoking.
The song is "East Timor" from his 1995 album "Wild Seed".
If there were a word to discribe his voice I would write it down. But I haven't found it yet. Thank you for this video!

Wow, this is great! Videos of Morten Harket actually concentrating on the talent of his amazing voice, not his looks! I appreciate this so much! It can be hard finding videos that are just about his voice without photos or videos of him looking like a pin up model or a Playgirl video. It’s great to see him being respected this way. i have read in a couple of places that Morten's voice in 5 ocyaves range Nd Freddy Mercury 4. I honestly found it impossible because I believe that no human being has such voice range. but after havind read ehat you say that Morten's range was recorded on tv and that you have seen this too... I have read that about Morten's voice being 5 full octaves in several places as well. I believe it because he hits so many high notes & drops so far down a phrase later in his cd's.
As to Freddie Mercury, I have only heard that mentioned since the movie came out. One person on youtube was trying to explain the way his vocal cords worked & claimed he was using Mongolian throat singing techniques, without ever being trained to do that. Don't know if i can trust that but it is as good as any other explanation!
Morten has also records for holding the longest note in the song where he sings the same in one breath for 32 seconds! "Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy! Don't just walk away
With nobody else around" I am sorry i cannot remember the title of the song just now but you can google the lyrics. His voice IS beyond what adjectives could do it justice!

yes I know that there are a lot of sources out there on this topic, but I'm sorry to disappoint you, those sources are wrong :) I'm a singer myself, as well as a huge a-ha and Morten Harket fan, and I've been studying this myself, and seen Mortens vocal range in practice :) and yeah, I can agree to that Mortens Falsetto voice is the greatest falsetto voice in history, but it's still 4 octaves!:) maybe a little more than 4 octaves, but still, around 4 octaves :) 4 octaves and a thirds +/-
