Great reaction! Song is about traveling back in time to meet Mozart and tell him how amazing he is and how impactful his music will be after he dies. This is from the 25th anniversary concert for The Gathering so much older Anneke and still an incredible voice. The singers who join her on stage are all the different singers the band has had over it's existence.
This song is such a beautiful wish to "Travel" back in time to tell Mozart his music would live forever. This is a type of trance like song. This was a 25th anniversary show and all of the previous singers came out for the ending. Melodic stanzas Are symphonizing their way Through your weary head To feed your distrust And fill it's mouth with the desire To soulfully be one with your creation Not a subject to control You call upon a higher power For help and inspiration The crowd waits And turns their faces Towards you expectantly You give them what they need But their useless criticism Makes you die A bit more inside Not a subject to control You call upon a higher power For help and inspiration Oh, I swoon While loudspeakers play soft music Leaning Over your fortieth masterpiece You must have loved The colour of these violins I wish I knew you Your fit of insanity makes me sad I wish you knew Your music was to stay forever And I hope I have no clue If you know how much it matters And I hope I think you would love some of the softer songs from Anneke. Loved this first reaction of this magnificent performance of one of their best tracks guys! Also always thrilling to see people get stunned and mesmerized, or rather Annekefied, by Anneke's mesmerizing and enchanting vocal flexing and presence. Yes, the band has certainly developed over those 25 years, and this concert was a culmination and celebration of everything excellent about The Gathering and their lineups. The people who joined on stage to form the choir were all the other vocalists and instrumentalists who performed during the rest of the show, including their current singer Silje, who also does a splendid job of supporting that unique, ever developing TG sound. I am looking forward to see you guys check out two other landmark performances of that same show: 'On Most Surfaces' and 'Waking Hour'. Both these tracks will musically blow you away, albeit in different ways. The vocals will blow you away anyways as both showcase even more of Anneke's annique vocal abilities and melody lines. Do note that she was leading the vocal melody line and lyrical composition while the rest of the band, most notably guitarist Rene Rutten, composed the accompanying musical soundscapes, with Anneke's voice and Rene's guitar their most dominant instruments. Enjoy any further experiences listening to these musical gems! Oh, and don't forget to, at some point, sit down and relax while listening and watching their entire 2005 'A Sound Relief' concert in Paradiso, Amsterdam. You might even record your reaction to it and share it on YT. You'd have a first! :^)
Oh, and you mentioned 'mellow' ... try this: * Sleepy Buildings, from the 2004 semi-acoustic live album with the same name, ultimate mellow, jazzy Anneke sound: ruclips.net/video/6sfW00sf89g/видео.html My personal favourite feel-mellow-track. Similar feels as I get from the best tracks by bands like Talk Talk and Dead Can Dance. Oddball me? Note that Anneke started out as a Jazz singer, which kinda explains much of the jazzyness in abovementioned 'A Sound Relief' concert. And 'haunting' is also part of her and TG's musical universe: * Sand and Mercury, from their 1995 landmark album Mandylion, longest intro to one of the most chilling songs about dying ever, with also Jelmer's guitar play at the end adding to the haunting 'vocal' lines of the track: ruclips.net/video/QFGMroyKUKY/видео.html * Jelena, from their 2003 album Souvenirs, another song about dying, for a close friend of Anneke, with a stunningly fitting fanmade video: ruclips.net/video/fkriZ-NWEFs/видео.html
Has olvidado que el teclista Frank Boeijen también compone al menos casi la mitad de las canciones de The Gathering, no solo el guitarrista Rene Rutten... Frank es una pieza fundamental en The Gathering!
Always good to see you react to good music! The people in the end were all (former) singers of The Gathering. Anneke left them long time ago to go solo, but for this 25 year anniversary, she performed once again. I think her voice is so much better than the Pinkpop performance. At that time, I think her enthusiasm and maybe her looks were the most important thing, imho, although people will disagree. She still has those, but now she also has an exceptional voice. One of the best I’d say.
Anneke - Queen Mom as I call her since I saw her 1st of June in Eindhoven opening the Solo show of the Queen Floor Jansen - because she blew me away. No wonder she was the inspiration for Floor to get to metal. Both ladies are simply mesmerizing and touch not only your ears but even your soul. Greetings from Germany
Beautiful , I love this song so much . The lyrics Anneke sings with Mozart in mind are so haunting , the music is to ! "You must have loved the colours of these violins " "I wish I knew you , your fit of sanity makes me sad " "I wish you knew your music was to stay forever " " I have no clue if you know how much it matters , and I hope .... " So good , they make me cry over and over again 😢
Such a raw and pure voice. Melancholic music at its best... Try " the gentle storm- the storm" Another fantastic Anneke van Giersbergen and Arjan lucassen collaboration to enjoy
I'm in love with Anneke for more than 35 years already... and this song brings tears in my eyes every time. This show is so amazing too... I think I never heard any band doing this ever... a special show to celebrate the 25 years of the band and gathering ( 😀 ) all the musicians who take part in the band through those years. Just great. Thanks for this reaction. Peace !
This song is the very definition of a " Vibe " - it wouldn't really matter if she was singing the telephone directory it would still be captivating and mesmeric . " Waking Hour " is definitely worth a listen - another Vibe !
@@Populiervogel Yup, slight emphasis on the A ("a" as in "yacht") and then both "e"s pronounced as the English would the "u" in "fur". Whenever there's a slight hint of the "e" being pronounced as in "leg", we Dutchies recognize the non-native speaker. Not that all of this matters a great deal. So let's comment on it 😇
Oh that TG25 gig in my home town.. One legendary concert I'm still bummed abt for having missed it! For a more intimate Anneke (with great crowd interaction!), I'll copy/paste my previous comment on here with one simple addition: just do it 😁 "Anneke.. Devin's "Tinkerbell"; Floor's inspiration as a frontlady; godmother of the smile metal genre (aka "happy metal") 😁 Was going to see her live in Dutchieland, where she would feature as the support act (co-headliner in my book) to Floor. Got cancelled due to ... circumstances concerning Floor's health. As goes for Floor, Anneke's stage presence is of the charts and she's unmatched in spontaneous interactions with the crowd. Small example but well worth the view/reaction: "Time After Time - Anneke Van Giersbergen - La Scène Bastille 13/12/2012" - ruclips.net/video/ESCIutJ75kk/видео.html It has a few million views which is far too few for such a stellar performance. Enjoy & Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘"
Beautiful isn't it? I love the studioversion a lot too, the instrumental part is much clearer and easier to follow. But live, I am just crushed (in a good way) by Anneke's voice.
Other great live performances by Anneke. The Gathering - Waking Hour (TG25: Live at Doornroosje - unofficial video) ruclips.net/video/pUKBV8M_XXE/видео.html Vuur - Days Go By - London [Live at Masters of Rock 2017] ruclips.net/video/5sZiL2usPLc/видео.html
Just a small lesson in Dutch pronounciation. In Dutch we pronunce all letters. Half of the "e" in Dutch is the "schwa" sound (pronounced as "uh or u"). Both the "e" in Anneke are "schwa". So Anneke will be pronounced as "Annukuh"
Yeaah thanks for your reaction, so fun to see both of you fall in love with the music and Anneke. She IS great, genuine person. A different song from this concert is Waking hour, i'm sure you're gonna love it as well❤ ruclips.net/video/pUKBV8M_XXE/видео.html I listen to her music since i was 17, i'm 43 years old now, her voice is healing.
Anneke the godmother of (Dutch) symphonic metal. She was the main reason for Floor Jansen to step into the metal scene and a huge example for many Dutch female metal singers. You absolutely have to check this duet from Anneke and Within Temptation: ruclips.net/video/ScjEJRIZGvg/видео.html
Hi guys your the best love your reactions your so funny and honest could you please try out cold play coloratura it’s an epic must do the live version thanks good luck
You need to get back to Lovebites. They released a new live video this past Saturday. Song is Hammer of Wrath (not a new song) ruclips.net/video/pHrWRT0Jeac/видео.html, live from their March 2023 show in Tokyo. The show was recorded for BR / DVD / CD which will be released next month. What's special about this live video, first live footage in 2yrs and first live video featuring new bassist Fami (recently turned 21 so is the little sister in the band)!! Such an amazing performance by all of them...and the interaction between Fami and Asami (vocals) during Fami's bass solo is so heart-melting. A total mother-daughter moment, where mom is saying "You're killing it!". Hope you will react. 😀🤘
Every few months I came back to youtube to search new reactions to the gathering, welcome!!
If you do Travel, you need also do Waking hour. Totaly in trance ( melted) ❤

Melodic stanzas
Are symphonizing their way
Through your weary head
To feed your distrust
And fill it's mouth with the desire
To soulfully be one with your creation
Not a subject to control
You call upon a higher power
For help and inspiration
The crowd waits
And turns their faces
Towards you expectantly
You give them what they need
But their useless criticism
Makes you die
A bit more inside
Not a subject to control
You call upon a higher power
For help and inspiration
Oh, I swoon
While loudspeakers play soft music
Leaning
Over your fortieth masterpiece
You must have loved
The colour of these violins
I wish I knew you
Your fit of insanity makes me sad
I wish you knew
Your music was to stay forever
And I hope
I have no clue
If you know how much it matters
And I hope

Anneke is special
This always gets me into tears
The Gathering are Special, really no band is like them. They should be much more popular
don't know them.. really nice nice.
Was really hoping you'd get to this one.....Anneke is really special, IMHO!

Floor and Anneke had the plan to do a show together this year in the Netherlands

The BEST song of the history
