I know what you mean. It does spoil what would otherwise be a pleasant video. I promise you there are plenty of black owned businesses in Gambia offering fantastic food and hospitality.
@Bassman Njie You seem to be going to great lengths to defend white people... It is this dependency on white (and other) people that holds Africa and its people back. You constantly refer to "jobs" being created by them.... Tell me what jobs you mean? Do you mean the low paying subsistence level salaries which result in keeping Africans poor? Whilst they may offer some short term relief against purely subsistence level poverty, these are not the "jobs" that will empower and enhance our people. That can only come about by us being determined to work together as Africans and help each other and ensure that our leaders are held truly accountable. The truth is that constantly promoting non African businesses keeps the real money in the hands of outsiders with the chicken feed going to a few chefs or other low paid African staff. It's not just Gambia. It is happening all over Africa and we must come together to put a stop to it and you can start by stopping being so obsequious towards white people. Please learn your history and you will quickly understand why we Africans are in this position. As a final point..... I strongly suspect you have never lived outside Africa and probably see most white people as benign benefactors and look to them as some kind saviour. That may be the impression you have of most of them but the reality is very different to the relaxed sun tanned tourists you might bump into on the beach or the Senegambia strip. Or even the few who live there. This should not be taken as the yardstick by which you measure them. To fully understand the racial dynamics you have to have to know them inside out in their own environment. Some are good but let's face it why do you think they are in Africa? You would be foolish to think the vast majority are there for altruistic reasons. To blindly trust and deceive yourself in this way could ultimately lead to your downfall. You probably believe all those trite notions of us "all being the same" or that "there is good and bad in all people" but that is nonsense. You take yourself off to Europe, USA, China, India, Lebanon and you will soon find out how they treat you there. Then compare that with the way so many of our people lick the boots of these people when they come to our land. Time to wake up!!
@Bassman Njie OK. Even if you live in the UK you certainly were not born and brought up there. There is a huge difference. You probably arrived as an adult and still have plenty to learn. My comment is nothing to do with hate. It is about supporting each other as Africans. You can respect and work with white people without kissing their backsides. All you need to do is show the same respect and support for your fellow Africans and understand the social and historical context of our condition... Maybe then you will learn not to confuse my desire to cherish and support all things African with hate for others!
@@IsatuBokumsVlogs That's not what you said in another comment. You said "unfortunately" it wasn't Gambian owned but that she "supports Gambian youth". She said in the video that she is married to a Gambian. So that makes her a Gambian now?

@Wonder Boy The B1 talk is a new strain of hateful, racist nastiness pushed by some on RUclips and Twitter. It used to be about black empowerment and forward thinking with a RUclipsr named the Black Authority and Professor Black Truth. Now, it just seems to be a cesspool of anger and nastiness. It had a great potential for empowerment. But it has dwarfed into something ugly. But not all AAs are like that. I also hope it isn't imported into your country. I think some were afraid that it is what Art Cathey is doing. But I think most AA are coming to start a new life and find a place that feels like home. And would like to give something back to their new home like Black Acres. My fear is they will get mixed in with the new nastiness and Gambia will no longer want to see AA coming. A few ALWAYS tend to mess things up for the masses. And the loud, nasty group is really very few...but really loud.

But the trauma we have endured in the US should not spill out onto others who are blameless. I hope you can keep your country as it is. I like to think of it as the smiling coast, with open arms to everyone. I want it to always be the case. And try not to think all of us are like the angry ones you see online. Most of us are just trying to live out our lives peacefully. But the loud ones get the most attention. My fear is that some of us will take this anger with us abroad. And instead of being a part of the building that Gambia is doing. Gambia will regret our arrival. And then those who do go with open clean hearts will be shunned because of the riff raff who went first. Best wishes.

Sister Isatu, I love your video vlogs and I have the utmost respect for you. You are a beautiful Black woman internally as well as externally. However............ I "MUST" say this: What is the government of Gambia thinking!!!! That Swedish White women who even admitted that once she was an alcoholic, couldn't even own a restaurant like that in her own country..and then she gets this idea to go to "The Gambia" and "OWN"!!!!!! that Exquisite Awesome Restaurant!!! She should not even be allowed to own real estate like that in "The Gambia.". When you interviewed her and said that she was the owner!!!!....I felt "SICK' to my stomach!!!!!! I cry out to the Government of "The Gambia..... Please Do Not Let Them Take Over!!!! Just like several brothers said in the comment section..and I totally agree with them: The West and White People don't give a damn about Africa and Black People... please do not let history repeat itself! When I do come to "The Gambia"...I am "NOT" going to patronize her Restaurant. Africa should be only for indigenous Africans and African descendants in the Diaspora. How on Earth can an Alcoholic with probably no Restaurant experience own that massive property in "The Gambia.". I also call that "White Supremacy" because they still think they are entitled to "EVERYTHING"!!! Her Ancestors were "COLONIZERS." I knew that was to good to be true!!!! At first when I saw how beautiful the place is...I said to myself...Wow!!! It's really nice to now that my African Brothers and Sisters own something like that!!! When you showed the real owner...I was so disappointed that I fell out of my chair!!! That's a Shame, Shame, Shame!!!!!!!! Finally, like I said before Isatu....I will continue subscribing to your very informative channel. I don't blame you...I blame the leaders of the Gambian Government. I hope they will wake up!! They are asleep at the wheel!!!!! "I love you beautiful sister!!!!!
You speak for many.. It's just that not all of our people can put into words the thoughts that come deepest from our hearts.... In fairness to the owner I think she did say "workaholic" rather than "alcoholic" but your point is taken. Only amongst our people will you see so many willing to help others to stay ahead of us, without the slightest thought or consciousness of what they are doing. I'm glad to see that slowly things are changing but as you can see, we still have a lot of work to do.
In most European countries, like Italy and France..they foreigners are not allowed be sole proprietors..you must have a native from the land as your partner and employee those from the land. How does it work in Gambia?
Thanks for posting, Isatu Bokum's Vlogs, please remember to use your face mask, and keep a good distance at all times and we always think it cant happen to us, but to others? Please use your mask, you can make home made ones with your beautiful hollandaise prints that you wear all the time. The restaurant is nice, it offers locals jobs, and the lady has a Gambian family by marriage. People must think before yapping, because the Chinese in Nigeria only hire from China to execute their Nigerian projects, then attack Africans in China; the Indians in Nigeria only employ Indians from Asia; now this Swiss woman employs Gambians, creating jobs for people who might have drowned in the Atlantic Ocean in search of asylum elsewhere, and rigid thinkers now blame Gambian Government, these same people have endured racial brutalities over 400 years until suddenly they all wake up to blame Africa and their government for their own slumber. God Bless.
Isatu Bokum's Vlogs yes like sisters! “Alfre Woodard” looks fully African! I don’t know her full acting history but I bet she played a role as an African native in her career.
I’m not sure why you find my question to be a joke. That’s the said part about people. If you’re not from the area, and you ask a simple question, someone always finds the time to give an insulting response instead of just answering the question.
@Max Ceesay... again, I’m not from there. I never said that you were in the jungle. Are you saying that there’s only birds in the jungle? Where I live if there was an open concept restaurant birds would fly in. Please don’t respond back.
Many on keys here don't really know what it means or takes to be Gambian we're all family we don't hate people and can't hate people no matter what race or colour I don't know what some of you thinking or wants to bring in that peaceful little country a race war or whaaaa, it will be difficult for some other kids who you know their families are different race and living in the Gambia for them to adopt freely and happily like every Gambian.. We can hate them no way its a 🆓 world. Which country in the world don't have mix race????
@Wonder Boy and I could guess many of them are working under white man's agencies. If any of them have a problem with the white men let them keep it to themselves it's not our war, I do only stress about those who are racist and think that they're better than their fellow human. Very nice place! Who is the owner? By the way, I love the music.
Lovely. I enjoy your videos. And plan to get to the Gambia.
Beautiful Restaurant amazing place. Isatou bokum if you can send me a one plate through the messager I will be very grateful for that. Swedish I never been to the place but I heard that they are peace loving people

Gambia, home sweet home
Oh man your videos are killing me in a beautiful way putting things in place so I can come there for vacation and looking to live there also tired of the stress here in America
Hello!, Ms Bokum's , I'm enjoying the meal along with you😁, great video!!!
Wow mouth watering yum yum
Whilst the decor is lovely- what about promoting Vlogz on Gambia 🇬🇲 African, African Diasporan owned businesses, who easily create ambience and tranquility, who will actually support the gambian economy.
More vlogs on that coming up. This I also partly Gambian owned.
Love the colours of that swishy dress
Thanks for sharing. I appreciate the tour of the facility. If I may, I’d kindly like to suggest that you’d talk more about the cuisine and/or menu items and price range on your restaurant reviews. By the name, I was thinking it was Japanese inspired and I still don’t know what to expect and if it serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. Looking forward to your next videos.
Amazing suggestion.....Will put that into consideration for my next video.
We're serving lunch/dinner from 11am onwards until 9.30pm. The dishes are a combination of Afro Caribbean soulfood with some Vietnamese touch. As the African kitchen has influenced the Caribbeans and Vietnamese kitchen. The price range is middle class. The chef can create any special menu concerned the budget for special occasions.
Yosh Gambia Thank you. I’m one of many black Americans living in the US preparing to repat to The Gambia. I plan on moving this year. So, I’m researching everything!

apologies/ i enjoyed your video. but i stopped when you introduced the white woman becausei cannot do white people in our Motherland/ i a am repat from the US i hope you understand
Y'all need to seize fire. This is also a Gambian owned restaurant. My fault...I didn't mention that. She is equally married to a Gambian
@@IsatuBokumsVlogs That's not what you said in another comment. You said "unfortunately" it wasn't Gambian owned but that she "supports Gambian youth". She said in the video that she is married to a Gambian. So that makes her a Gambian now?
Great Host and content as always. Your efforts behind this vlog aren't great value. Respect. I
l💛ve this channel and what you stand for empowering Gambian youth. Keep up the great work. 🇬🇲🙌🏾🦋
Thank you so much. I appreciate the love
Thank you
Hey isatu,, please do your support from every ankle... We Gambians don't know nothing about racism,, tribalism or religious differences.. We are one people different colors and religion. Together we live as one period. Whoever doesn't like that be yourself and stay where you at... White or black 🖤 it's your choice to get along whom u like but you can't tell someone who to get along with. The restaurant is there for the gambians,, they give employment,, and also pay tax to the government. Would you do the same and stop negativity.... Sister isatu please!! Please!!! Please!!! Do you good work not every white is an evil 😈 that's not possible likewise not every black man or woman is a friend or family 👪 watch out people and stop 🛑 the negativity.

@Akoben Renaissance hell up ,
@@musicalbenches black acres are a races famly ,if they are the face of black americans best they stay in america ,gambians are a peacefull people to all races ,white people in the gambia are not there to take over they mix with them and become freines ,but some of the black americans want to take over and run out other races ,the gambians wont have that ,so i say liv and let liv ,theres room for every one ,jah bless ,
@@jahvoice5097 Are they racist? I am sorry. I did not know. The US has given many of us a dark, angry edge. I hate to see it. There are many of us who do well here and anywhere in the world.
Lovely girl when are you going to my home village wassadou in foni
I don't know yet but we will see

I love to watch people eat 😂
Hi I am New an I enjoy the vlog
Aisha ooh is looks delicious, I want to taste it mein
Was a great video until it shows who owns the restaurant. Not interested in anything owned or ran by colonizers, can you show the places owned and ran by our people?
The owner and business owner are gambians. Switzerland never colonised because of their neutrality.
Does it matter who owns it, let's live together grow together, what Gambia needs is good people not bad. You can be what ever but if you ain't good for Gambia or cant stand other people stay where you are with close mind.
I live in the US and am VERY aware of how colonizers work. I also WILL move to the Gambia to live and conduct business with MY OWN people, African first.

Very nice what kind of what kind offood they serve
They serve both Gambian and continental dishes
Sister Isatu,
I love your video vlogs and I have the utmost respect for you. You are a beautiful Black woman internally as well as externally. However............
I "MUST" say this: What is the government of Gambia thinking!!!!
That Swedish White women who even admitted that once she was an alcoholic, couldn't even own a restaurant like that in her own
country..and then she gets this idea to go to "The Gambia" and "OWN"!!!!!!
that Exquisite Awesome Restaurant!!! She should not even be allowed to own real estate like that in "The Gambia.". When you interviewed her and said that she was the owner!!!!....I felt "SICK' to
my stomach!!!!!!
I cry out to the Government of "The Gambia..... Please Do Not Let Them
Take Over!!!!
Her Ancestors were "COLONIZERS."
I knew that was to good to be true!!!!
She actually said “workaholic”.
@@qw2659 It doesn't matter..she is the OWNER
@@naturallyme4984 I know that, I watched the video.
In most European countries, like Italy and France..they foreigners are not allowed be sole proprietors..you must have a native from the land as your partner and employee those from the land. How does it work in Gambia?
Umm bon appétit ma sœur
God Bless.
Well noted....I will do my best to wear my mask all the time. Thanks for your input.
Thank you sister. Do diaspora need yellow fever shot to enter the country?
No
Amenna Ashae This place is not black owned..
No. But if they insist say you are allergic to eggs.

@Wonder Boy and I could guess many of them are working under white man's agencies. Why are you so triggered by people wanting to put African people first? Did your "oral and written" history tell you how The Gambia was created? Or are you so stupid that you think your country created itself? The very nation of Gambia was created by the white man or does your "oral and written" history not tell you that? Does your oral and written history tell you why you are poor? Does it tell you why you cannot export produce in sufficient quantities to obtain foreign exchange? Does it explain the role played by the EU, the IMF or the World Bank or the multinationals.? Does your oral and written history tell you who really controls Gambia?
