You are so right about Batman: Odyssey. I love Neal Adams as an artist but his writing ... oh my god. He can't write to save himself. That book is a disaster!
Outcast is really unfortunate. Elizabeth Breitweiser makes everything she touches look absolutely gorgeous (The Fade Out, Kill or Be Killed) and this book is no exception. But the pacing of the 1st volume was sooo slow and I couldn't care enough to pick up the next one.
That cover of "Batman Odyssey" tells a lot about the quality of that book...Batman riding a dinosaur...ugh! Nice review! Just a old HQ fan here, but also one more sub :)
I expected to disagree with you on a few of these but most of the stuff you show is spot on. I liked Walking Dead well enough. It was entertaining, if overly dialogue heavy, but Kirkman is really overrated. I lost some respect for Gem Mint when he said Invincible was one of his favorite comic books he has ever read. I read the whole thing via my local library and it was fine, but definitely shouldn't be your favorite comic unless you're not reading enough of those thousands of omnibuses behind you. Neal Adams should not be writing anything, ever. My only real disagreement with you would be that I didn't hate Kevin Smith's Batman. It wasn't great by any means and his Green Arrow and Daredevil were both much better, but I got a few laughs out of his Batman. But I never really took it seriously either. It just seemed like Kevin Smith writing Batman, which means lots of juvenile humor. He is capable of better work and maybe it is unfinished because he knows it wasn't his best.

I have Outcast 1 I picked up last year because I saw everyone on Omnibros pick it up but I still haven't read it yet. I was about to get vol 2 when it came out but glad I didn't. Nice shirt, by the way. I suppose you will be rooting for Rams this evening in the wild card game? Being from Fargo, I'm a north division guy so I will be rooting for Vikings next week (if Rams win looks like they will be playing MN).

Omnidog! I wish you had given this review earlier! I already bought 2 volumes of Kirkman's Outcast....and I have to agree that it's not good. Volume 1 is lame and the story is cliched and the characters are forced. All in all, the story feels disjointed with events happening like out of the blue. There is no characterization or insight whatsoever.
Hahaha! "Your time on this earth is short" What did you do to the Wolf-Man Omnibus after you gave it the rootbeer bath? It would have been funny to pull the original bathed copy and given it another bath! I feel bad saying I needed more Omnidog videos in your cat then seeing these posted!

For me it's Rick Remenders take on Captain America in Dimension Z and the whole lot after it. What a piece of crap. Worst comic books in years for me. Lack of story is compensated with utter brutality. Don't buy these.
I think Allstar Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder is much worse, though the art by Jim Lee is good, the writing by Frank Miller is horrible, it's like what the hell happened to Frank Miller? he used to be such a good comic artist and writer, but Batman in that book is a complete psycho and lunatic who abuses Dick Grayson and Alfred and kills cops and criminals.

I agree with all but the last 3 books, I liked them all a lot...particularly if you look at Kevin Smith's books as 'Elseworlds' books.

as much as I have to agree on Odyssey: Outcast is not the re-invention of comics or sth, but it's definitely a well told horror story with good art.
