    I discovered your channel about two months ago and I’ve binged just about every video! I watch Weed ‘Em and Reap’s channel and I saw a kid who had been disbudded and went to search how it’s done and I saw the video of yours of your very first time disbudding (I know you said you were slightly embarrassed about it, but you’re right, it’s a learning process and it can be cringey looking back on our old content,but it shows where you came from and your capacity to learn and grow!).
    I was hooked. I’m a Canadian expat in the U.K. who misses her large group of friends (I know few people here) and I have a horse and rabbit and have done the horse thing professionally on and off for years and years (I know it’s rude, but I wonder how old you are; I think we are the same age?) and love the farming and homesteading channels. But you remind me of my friend Amie so much in your interests (she has a small homestead and raises goats and sheep!) and sounds so much like you and is blonde, but looks remarkably like you. It makes me both miss home and feel like I’m checking in on a friend.
    I now think I could name most of your goats, too! I’ve learned a lot!
    But I have Ehlers-Danlos and live in a lot of chronic pain. Good days I can ride. Bad days I’m on my crutches and in bed, but you’ve seen me through my latest flare up and I thank you for that deeply.
    I would love to share a few things with you, a couple of recipes I think you would love based on the things you’re trying and a couple of other things. If you have social media or an email or something that would be great, but I understand if you don’t or don’t want to share it, you’re always so busy, but on the off chance you do, would love to drop you a line!
    Much love and appreciation from Somerset in the United Kingdom from a Canadian 🇨🇦! ❤ 🐐 🐕

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  6 месяцев назад +2

      Her previous kids were not super huge, so not really sure! She's been bred to two other bucks before Nefarious. Before we got Havoc we had a buck names Barley. Her last kids were triplets and pretty little, but every single one was positioned poorly.

    Yay Mama! Congrats Heather ❤
    Not sure when you’re doing the next Q&A, but I have a question for ya. When breeding standard size dairy goats to Nigerians, what do the heat seasons/cycles of the offspring come out to? Would it be seasonal like the standard, or monthly like the Nigerian? What about when you breed that offspring back to a Nigerian..would that influence more of a monthly cycle? Thanks in advance ❤

    • @SageandStoneHomestead
      @SageandStoneHomestead  6 месяцев назад +3

      I have heard they cycle more like standards but I also have had people in the comments telling me their minis cycle year round like a Nigerian! Marge is a mini Alpine/mini Ober and she cycles year round! Sometimes their heats are not as heavy out of season but they still happen!

    I'm delighted Baerli had such an easy (nearly unassisted) birth this time! Maybe she just needed slightly smaller babies. ;)
    Because of the little girl's color swirls and gold darker color, I would likely go for something cloud-related (like with the sunshine peeking through).... but then the first name I though of was like Northern Lights - Aurora. That's REALLY close to your other new doeling, though so. Halcyon maybe? (Can be used to describe weather that is peaceful, like her birth story...)

    Yay Baerli! So happy no difficult delivery!
    I've only recently discovered your channel so I have been binge watching. I absolutely love your videos. You're down to earth, realness is super helpful for people like me who are about to embark on their goat journey (decided on lamanchas this year!), and of all the homesteaders I've seen on youtube including "big named" ones, you guys are my favorite :)
    The product recommendations such as the holistic goat care and goat binder/parasite book are going to be instrumental in me being the best goat owner I can be (and since parasites is such a huge topic I wanted to find info how to do fecals at home and you gave me that!).
    In case your open to a future video idea, I'd love to see an aerial view of your set up with different pastures, and if there's things you love/hate about it, and maybe more about your goat barn internal design/layout including flooring type. One of the reasons I've wanted goats for years but hadn't acted on it yet was just the overwhelming decision of what to put where, and setup is such an important part!
    Happy homesteading!

      @@SageandStoneHomestead question, I got this one doe supposedly bred.. her due date was yesterday. Other than tunneling in the hay I added to her nest box she hasn’t started pulling hair or shown any signs of being bred.. I can’t really tell that her belly has grown, and I’m wondering if she was actually bred or not.. is there something I can look for? Or will it just be a surprise if she in fact kindles

      This is her 4th kidding and in her case I know the two are correlated. I do understand sometimes you get a thick meaty large udder that produces very little, but to get a quart of milk out of an udder the size of a baseball is not at all likely either. I've had her since she was 2 weeks old and I do know her very well.
