The little "stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, we love you" has weirdly meant a lot to me throughout this year. It's just a nice caring touch I have appreciated.

I turned 68 on Monday. I've never seen a situation like this before. On so many different fronts.
I'm pushing 70 and I can remember the Cuban missle crisis pretty well. That one scared the heck out of me. This one is another crisis that is on a par with that one but in different ways, but the future of the country is still at stake here. We'll see in a very few days whether or not we become a fascist country or not. I cannot believe that those jackasses that support Trump don't see this.

@David Renton Congress has been ceding more and more of its power to the president over the years. The only saving grace these last 4 years is that republicans in congress had trouble getting their act together the first 2 years and that Trump has been so chaotic in the way he has operated. If he gets another 4 years though they will be significantly worse for the country.

As a European, I'm astonished how the mail voting can even be an issue. How is it possible that different states have different rules? How is it possible to change the rules this near to the election day? How can a candidate openly plan to win by *obstructing democracy* and discarding as many votes as possible? How there are people that think that's still okay?
Im with you, but different rules in different states is - with a view to population - like what we have with different countries and rules in Europe, too, don’t we? Anyway, its all history, we are not living in a perfect world but still have some miles to go.. we are in de midst of history...and our childs and grandchilds will learn about it in history classes.

This post is purely informative, since many people are confused about this issue. A lot of people have been misled by partisan American media and leaders on both sides. A candidate cannot actually modify voting rules before an election. Anyone who states this is being misleading-- Our Government is setup with different branches so that checks and balances are in place. The president is not supreme to congress or the senate. State governments have the authority to control certain things that the feds can't-- as decided by the civil war. There is still some confusion, because states have different mail-in voting policies. The majority of US States, like California where I live (and probably the state that President Trump has voted in recently), have never sent mail-in ballots unless requested in advance by the voter. Whether or not this voting policy was put in place originally due to voter fraud or suppression is what is being speculated about. The remainder of the states automatically send every registered voter a mail-in ballot, but also allow them to vote in person. CNN, NBC, nytimes, wapost, and hollywood (seth Meyers) all capitalized on this confusion to coax voters into thinking that President Trump and the GOC are trying to suppress voting. Fox, sky news, breitbart, etc all used the confusion to convince voters that voter fraud will occur, mainly deceased and non-citizens voting when they should not. Take information from all parties and late night hosts with a grain of salt.
The only people okay with it are the ones who only like democracy if they win, and the people who aren't okay have little power. It certainly doesnt help that most people are too busy barely scraping by (even when we arent in a recession) to have the time to organize and be an activist.
Because the GOP crooks that should be locking him up decided to sale off souls. The biggest laugh about the loyalty is that Sadden doesn't keep promises so they sold us out for nothing. How can you rush to appoint a Judge because you say you are pro life but do nothing to save 225,000 lives and counting gone.

Some states count the mail in ballots has they received them, others start counting them a week before the election and the rest, which are only a few, start counting the ballots on election day. A new president does not have to be announced on election night but up to 38 days after the election.

I work for an insurance company with many old school clients that get their bill in the mail. Over the past few months I received multiple calls daily from them asking where the mailed bill is. I sort of say something like ..well they limited and removed sorting machines I heard and the mail is considerably slower. Then I print the bill out and mail it to them! (As if that will somehow speed up the operation)

You could never get me to vote with a voting machine. I am a Canadian living in Toronto, and I have always been able to hold my ballot in my hand and see how I've marked it. And if there is any dispute all the ballots can be recounted, or laid in front of a judge.
