I'm 73 years old, and I found a slip of paper in one of my Mom's old cookbooks. On it was a recipe in my GRAND mothers handwriting for how to can apples for pies. It was just like what you have done here. I always have canned my apples this way since I found her recipe.

Very pretty. My mother use to talk about sulfur apples. She said her mother layered them in a crock. The funny thing she put the crock on step to upstairs where the boy slept. She said grandmother Redmon was upset when she went to get some and found the kids had been seaking apples when they go up or down.

Hi Miss Lori and Mr. Brown! I got a good sale on six pounds of apples and just made your canned apples. For the liquid, I used the two cups of juice from the pressed apples, two cups of the lemon water the fresh-cut apples soaked in, and two cups of our favorite Apple Cider. They turned our fantastic. Six pounds of apples gave us four pints and one jelly jar. (We're snacking on the jelly jar.) Thank you so much and God Bless you always. +

My Momma taught me to alternate tops & under sides of lids so they don't stick together in the water. That means you need a small saucepan to lay them in. I use a quart. Something smaller would work even better if you have it. Place a lid top side up in bottom. Place a lid under side up on top of it. Continue til all your lids are in.

When you cut up the apples you put the sugar and the lemon juice in it so they want Brown before adding water to it

Hi Miss Lori :) I never thought of wiping my jars with vinegar either (like another lady said) !!. I also loved that little magnetic gadget you used to pick the seals up with. This was a wonderful detailed tutorial and such a unique process too, thank you xo

Hi Ms Lori, can you put a dab of alum in the apples before canning to make them a little crisper, or no?

Just had the first taste of these apples, I had my sister in law, whose specialty is baking, make us an apple pie using 2 quarts of theses apples, she put in 1/4 cup of sugar, some cinnamon & lemon juice. The apples were not mushy, still had life to them & had a great fresh taste to them. I will get more apples to make more this year. Thank you!

I love your apple recipe. I’ve used it the past two years. Just wondering if I could fix spiced apples the same way, adding the spices to the juice when I warm it.? Any advice would be appreciated.
