@Savagejameel08 everyone watches that one, I think a better game is jordan agaisnt the mavs in 02. The game shows how at an old age jordan can still defend elite players and play at a high level.
After MJ retired in '98 i watched the NBA mostly because of Kobe! He was almost like MJ and i loved that style of playing - the dynamics, speed, creativity...but at the end of the day it was "almost" like, not the real deal in certain areas. That's why i will always have MJ at number 1, with Kobe second. The pure skills and grace of those two is simply unmatched but as already commented i still think MJ had much greater control of his body mid-air and in most of the occasions a more pleasing and entertaining view. As for the rest of my top list i would put both Bird and Magic in firm number three spot. The rest are so far behind that i don't even want to make a list for them whether you like it or not!
Kobe would regularly take harder, more contested shots but I got MJ with the prettier shot. Jordan’s was so smooth he made it look easy. The reason Kobe looks more difficult is because his body is more wire like and out of control when he shoots. Jordan’s body is more controlled in the air than Kobe’s. I’m not a Kobe hater either just my observations. I’ve also been following Bron since he was in high school (I live in Ohio) and not a hater at all. His longevity is unmatched, good things off the court and a beast on. That being said, I started watching the NBA during the 86 season when I was 10yrs old so I’ll rank the top players I’ve seen at their “peak” over the years: 1) Jordan 2) Bird 3) Kobe 4) Lebron 5) Magic 6) Duncan 7) Shaq 8) Hakeem 9) Durant 10) Curry 11) Barkley 12) Giannis 13) K. Malone 14) D. Robinson 15) Jokic Best ‘what if’s’ I’ve seen: 1) P. Hardiway 2) G. Hill 3) D. Rose 4) M.A. Rauf 5) D. Petrovic
When kobe played against lebron there was never anything either did that stood out to me to say the 1 is better than the other. MJ's twitch is different from kobes though based on this vid. And the hands man. Its a different game when you can palm the ball like that
That's an interesting thought, but the triangle is fluid by design so them finding the same spots on the floor had more to do with them executing their preferences, IMO.
"Always two there are....no more...no less. A master and an apprentice."... Jordan just seemed to have more time even on the harder shots, could be more to do with slightly better defence in Kobe's era. Jordan also looks more graceful, less clunky and heavy footed. When Kobe was on fire, he seemed to be able to score a lot of big point games, although I guess Jordan also sat out a lot of 4th quarter or end of games even when he was scoring buckets. Jordan also had a faster first step. Jordan's ability to palm the ball was vital in allowing him to handle the more physical defence, and his ability to maneuver his body in mid-air was nothing short of incredible.
Fun Fact: 2008 MVP Kobe averages what rookie MJ was averaging coming into the NBA. - Kobe plays like an old MJ of the 90s, 80s Jordan wa something else. Don't take my word for it tho, you could search it up. Rookie and later 80s Mike was a beast, a monster at both ends, his numbers (stats) wont lie, imma a Kobe guy but a young MJ was next level, maybe even 2 levels up.... Mike's has more lift to his jumpers and his massive hands could be the big difference imo.
@@amandadraws8682 Prolly he did, knowing what the Lakers program was and his trainer was Tim Grover, MJ's trainer. He might have hit the wall, we all have limits.
If Kobe Bryant's shots are harder, its because they are lower percentage shots. Jordan takes a couple dribbles and get to his spot. Thats more efficient
They had similar move sets, but whatever MJ had, Kobe wanted to do it better. MJ's were a bag full of fundamentals because of his natural gifts (ie: huge hands, vertical) and you could just see Kobe put more effort into his moves, an extra 'oomph', if I may say so. That made Kobe's jumpshots a bit prettier.
@@jonoak i know he didn't Jordan had a bigger body. Bigger hands More natural athletics...i am just saying the majority of people dont see or acknowledge kobes peak 2003 (kobe said himself was his peak)...they just know the slower version of kobe post knee surgeries

@@JIX9ISLER1986because 2003 does not stand out like other Kobe years. 2006 Kobe stands out for the 35 points a game season and 81 point game. The reason MJs shots overall looked more effortless in comparison to Kobe simply physical gifts like his hands and far greater athleticism he tend to jump higher (48” vert to Kobe 38”), move faster(4.37 to 4.7), had a quicker first step and was a good deal stronger so Mike was just Kobe skillset on steroids level athleticism 😂
The reason why Jordan makes it look easy because he's the original and kobe copied Jordan so it was difficult to do someone else's move's, don't get wrong I think kobe is a phenomenal player and if we want to talk about Jordan goat status with someone it should be labron and kobe.
Kobe is better than Lebron. Lebrons game relies on having 3 and D teammates who play off ball because he doesn’t play off ball and doesn’t shoot the 3 at a high percentage. When he doesn’t have teammates like this, he either doesn’t make the playoffs or underperforms in the playoffs. Kobe got Pau Gasol. The same player that everyone was calling Pau Gesoft, just one year earlier. And him and Pau went to 3 straight finals and won 2 chips. And during those years, Lebrons Cavs we’re picked to win the chip. Despite people saying he had no help.

Kobe played against a tougher defense thats why it looks a little more difficult.
There's a play where Jordan makes 2 defenders run into each other and I'm pretty sure Kobe did the same thing.
The real difference was Jordan was a better athlete he was alot stronger then kobe jumped higher an was faster...kobe was just as quick tho

Kobe imitated Jordan moves when he was losing his athleticism. Vince Carter was able to imitate young Jordan.
