This supercell thunderstorm near the town of Turkey, TX put out some very close and intense lightning strikes, that hit the ground in the field beside us. Filming lightning striking this close comes with obvious dangers, but we did our best to minimize the risks by periodically taking shelter in the vehicle. This day fell in the middle of a multi-day outbreak of severe weather and tornadoes that stretched from Texas to Kansas.

I wish those thunders would come to my location ;_; there so beautiful
We certainly don't get them like this in NYC where I live too often either! Thanks for watching
that cloud looks like it's rotating. thats some bad ass CG's too. Great catch!
Geez, this supercell has a lot of dangerous CG lightning! Those were some fantastic shots!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching :)
That lightning is insane
Thanks for watching! Yes, some of those strikes hit very close for sure.
You caught some great strikes right there! I wouldn't dare be outside my car personally, hahah
Awesome capture!!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
A+ video. I'm from Pampa, so I favor panhandle storms. Nice smooth, non-shaky camera ...
That was a fun night. Especially when the nighttime wedge "chased" us up towards Turkey 😂
I watched this in person
awesome video!
Thanks for taking the time to watch Ian!
+Scott McPartland - Extreme Weather Photography no problem at all good sir, I've enjoyed what you do for a long while now. Keep up the great work and stay safe!
Awesome! I love lightning!
Thanks for watching Ben!
I've been close enough to lightning before to see the bolt actually fizzle out with the electricty still there, if you know what i mean. it was pretty awesome seeing it.
No doubt!! It's definitely an amazing sight for sure.
ever been so close that you hear the "snap"before the "CRASH" i have. it's freaky.
Yep, sure have. And you're right, it's definitely freaky and scary!
Very intense storm there! Sadly nothing like this in England my country
Yep, nothing like that here in New York City where I live either Matthew lol. We do get some bad storms for sure, but they are mainly confined to areas of Upstate New York, not so much here in the city. There are some notable exceptions though. Sept 16, 2010 being one of them in Queens and Brooklyn, NY
Hi Zach, later on that evening this storm did produce a tornado after sundown. So definitely tornadic. Thanks for watching!
Incredible... stunning!!!! Thanks for sharing this show of nature!!!!! ⛈
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this amazing video. It's really hard to find real thunderstorm sounds with the search results full of asmr rain sleeping dogshit.
Like you, I also enjoy only the natural sounds of storms, with no music in the background. Thanks for watching!

i like lightning
I think i've only been able to only hear the "Snap"before the crash of thunder of a VERY close strike once. It's definitely scary i'll tell you that. If you hear the ""snap"before the strike, it means you better get inside,
Christopher Ryan 👩🎤Thanks good to know ⚡️⛈⚡️
Unfortunately, that's negative lightning.
_positive_ lightning is atraight up explosive. And immediately sounds off as so.
And unfortunately, are *much* louder...
made me so happy to see. I live in San Diego so this never ever ever happens. it just won't when it rains here theyre stratus clouds
Thanks for watching!
That fucking lightning scared me
Mother Earth's awesome lightning strikes
nicely formed supercell right their
5 words. south Florida in the summer. once you get the Gulf and Atlantic seabreezes colliding over your head, it's like Christmas.
Boa noite a todos e cada uma delas é o
love it
Glad you enjoyed my vid!! Thanks so much for watching.
How many of those CCs and CGs were positive? A few of the later ones sounded positive. And ive heard tell that repeating positive bolts usually accompany the start of a tornado.
Not to mention the rotating weather (possible wall cloud?) before you.
I believe there were a few positive strikes in there. Not all of them of course, but a few I do remember. Might not have captured them on film though. Most were negative strikes. Thanks for watching!
All of the flashes in this video appeared and sounded like -CGs.
Supercell storms further to the north do tend to produce predominantly +CGs. They have a characteristic smooth-channel appearance and sound more like supersonic aircraft. With many +CGs the very first thing you hear is a loud boom whereas with -CGs there is almost always a crack before the boom.
Very beautiful ! SP Brazil S2
Thanks Cleber! Glad you enjoyed it!
niceness!
Thanks for watching!
From my point of view this looked like a very dangerous storm and those bolts tho at 1:25 and 1:59. But this was a good video tho
Thanks for taking the time to watch Rocky! Definitely a lot of close lightning strikes in this storm!
No problem. I hear were gonna have heavy storms so I'm keeping an eye on the sky and the news weather hopefully nothing like last Friday
I SAW A FUNNEL DURING THE STORM
1:13🌩️👍
الله أكبر
Thats a baby storm compared to the one's here in texas. id be out there with you. 😂
crazy awesome my main goal is to seek out the best lightning and its a challenge back in ohio lol
Definitely a challenge here where I live in NYC! We don't get a whole hell of a lot of good lightning here, even in the summer.
Scott McPartland - Extreme Weather Photography I bet, It could be worse i tell myself at least i dont live in Oregon or California where there is barely any storms
