Note, also make sure you set your units in RAS to the units of your projection. Mapper does not relay the units of the projection back to the main RAS screen. So, in this example, the projection units are SI but the default RAS units are US Customary. So I would need to change the RAS units.

For anyone new in RAS (me)- to change the units, just exit RAS mapper and go to main RAS menu of your project. Then go to options>change units from US Customary to Imperial. Im using HEC RAS 6.1

Hi, Stan! Why Hec-Ras dont use WKT proj? I think its better than PRJ.
    And that about Copernicus DEM?

We use GDAL for our projections and in our experience (at least in earlier versions) it worked better with prj - so we went with that at the time. Not ideal, since a RAS project file is also .prj (we were actually first :) ) so you have 2 *.prj files floating around. We'll fix that in the next major release (not the 6.x series...but in a couple years).

I use Copernicus DEM for simulations in certain areas and the results are good.
