Autel Evo Nano+ vs DJI Mini 2 a Flight Review Video Comparison
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 сен 2024
- These two drones are natural competitors in the sub-250-gram mini drone category. The sun came out so we took the opportunity to test fly both of them so that we could compare video quality and flight characteristics. I hope you find this useful.

Great testing of the two mini drones, and no surprise the Nano plus has a better camera, it's newer model and is almost twice the cost of the Mini 2. It seemed like the Nano performed better for you in this video, but at this point I think I still prefer the trouble free MIni 2 for most occasions. Great review, and thanks for sharing Marcus.
Thank you, Ron! As usual, your comments are spot on!
The cell tower could be having weird effects with the communications and electronics. Sitting right in front of the antennas exposes the little drones to a lot of RF.
Good vid Marcus!! Always enjoy that park. Love the Cascades.
Thank you very much!
Ggeezzee Marcus, I'm five minutes out in this weather and my fingers go numb.
True! 😎
A couple of things, despite the recording issues on this flight, the initial Nano+ video looked pretty good. I was impressed with the look into the sun. The flare and exposure were handled very well. Plus, I am certain the speed issues you saw were, as you suggested, related to the 'breeze'. You could see some of the flags were showing some air movement consistent with the speed reduction on the Nano+. Anyway, nice comparison and speaking of comparisons, the price of the Nano+ compared to the Mini2 is sort of 'out there'. The Mini2 is quite a value‼ Thanks for suggesting this video.
Thank you, Doug! The Mini 2 is still the leader in the sub 250g category. 👍
Thanks Markus ! Windy here today and very cold in N. E. OHIO. WAS A BEAUTIFUL MORNING. I NEED TO CAPTURE THAT CHURCH IT'S REALLY COOL LOOKING. That camera is crystal clear.
Thank you! The Nano has a great camera!
Hello, can anyone confirm if the Autel Nano series includes manual video modes so I can adjust things like ISO and shutter speed? I like having the option to use ND filters and do longer exposure night shots as well
Hey Marcus...Nice review as always. Your a glutton for punishment getting out in that cold. You know , after your last video I was hoping for a side by side with the two drones. Seem the Nano is not to much different than the Mini 2 as far as speed and video. So for the extra money you get a better zoom, avoidance sensors, and no geo fencing. Still a little concerned about the connection distant. Then now with the lost video. I did notice as someone else noted about the blurring of the video during the yaw maneuver at the cell tower. The mini did the same thing. I know there's going to be pro's and con's with anything we chose to fly. But in the end...were still flying and having fun.
I enjoy both drones Jim. I do hope that Autel can sort out the Nano.
Nice Marcus. I'm loving the way the Autel Evo Nano Plus is performing. I have flown six batteries with no issues. And the camera is really nice. Thanks Marcus.
Thank you, Robert! Enjoy that new Nano Plus!
Thank you Marcos. I needed to know this info👍👍👍👍 another good one..
Mikey
Thank you, Mikey!!
I was noticing the horizon tilt… I couldn’t tell if it was actual tilt or if it was the actual terrain dropping in the distance. It changed depending what direction you were going.
The speed thing was a wind issue, you can see the flags the street blowing in the direction of the drone.
The video loss is interesting. I wonder if that is an environmental thing, a SD card thing or the drone.
It was sure off to lose the recording. I'll be worried about that every time I fly the Nano now.
Mini 3 is the one I’m waiting for!
Me too. 😎
Excellent comparison Marcus! I still have my Nano+ on preorder hopefully shipping soon!!
Thank you, Rob! I look forward to your flight with the Nano+.
To me, it's obvious that the wind direction has everything to do with drone velocity. In this video, it seemed the downwind direction was generally by the corner with colorful playground equipment towards your location. Upwind would be the opposite end of this whole area towards you.
When downwind, drones were faster. When upwind, they were slightly slower. All as expected. Seems consistent.
As long as the same flight direction yields the same results, there shouldn't need to be concern.
The only thing that might get in the way, I think, would be object avoidance/detection where it's sending something within range that it should avoid. In such case, I'd imagine that it's either resisting going forward fully -or- moving slightly sideways taking away from the forward velocity.
The tuning of the drone has a lot to do with it. In other words, how much the drone pitches forward. 👍
great video marcus . if autel can get a few the bugs sorted with firmware ill defo be interested in it .great stuff
Thank you, Tomas. This drone is really close, but just not quite there.
Awsome video my friend 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Mike in Australia-Hello Marcus-what is the difference between the Evo Nano + and the Nano Lite-thank you.
The Lite is a much bigger drone. 👍
way to opportunistic price for these sub250 from Autel.
sure the prices have increased here under cov19, but way too much Autel IMO are asking.
After all it's Autel.. it should not have been over 550 to 600 US IMO.
The Autel handles glare quite a bit better but then again the sun was also a tad lower when the MIni2 was in the air and that can influence it more than one should think if the sun is just under the camera sweat spot in regards to the optic and the sensor.
Personally, I am in the market for a sub250.. and the contenders are Hubsan's standard Mini but it needs to get down in price, DJI Mini2, and obviously Mini3 when it sees daylight.
Would like to see 1080p30 transmission on the Mini3.. 1080p transmission is a thing I really like on my Mavic air2, as Im usually on tablet Tabs5 lte and DJI's videolink is second to none.
The Mini 3 will be great I'm sure! 👍
Comment #6 @ 13:08. Speed slowing. The drone has just started flying over the school building. The wind speed may be higher here due to the building blocking the air flow at low level - the ground level moving air mass has to go somewhere......
super video, I would like some advice I own a mini 2 and I would like to see it and take another more complete drone I am undecided between an old man dji mavic pro 1 I have a Nano Evo standard what do you recommend? thank you
I just cannot recommend the Nano at this point. There are just too many unresolved problems. If you are looking to upgrade, but not spend a lot. The Mavic Air 2, or if you have a little more, the Air 2S are both great products.
Marcus great video! I was thinking about doing the same thing, but from my Boat in the Ocean! I'm just not too confident on the Evo Nano yet for ocean boat flying....
I enjoyed your last video. The Nano did quite well in the wind!
The drone is plumb but the terrain isn't. You'll always have it in the Boise area.
Great review! I can see that Autel's baby still got things to learn but video wise I think its very good. How about stills? Maybe a comparison of those two raw files?
Thank you! They do have a little work to do at Autel.
Comment 7 (I think!) @ 15:00. Unsafe Landing. Could you try this sometime in a wide open space? Maybe it is over sensitive and seeing say the car parked nearby? Or even your good self!
Why do you use meters???
Metric rocks!
@@IdahoQuadcopter lol ok 👍
I always have Google conversion page ready when I watch his videos. However he doesn't use celsius I have noticed.
Any chance you can do a comparison at night. I have seen a few and the nano will blow the mini out of the water.
No doubt the Nano with a bigger sensor will do better in low light. 👍
Great video as always.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Hey Marcus ya i think both were about the same image quality wise speed about the same as well but you may or not know from the other reviews on the Nano + you cant change the settings to manual mode in Vids at all like ISO , exposure, ect and that can be a huge problem if you want more professional footage but that being said i might be bias cause i own the Mini 2 and that might not a big deal to others ,
Thank you Rick!
Wich buy ??
I sold my Air2 for the Nano + . I think these 2 drones needs to be compared.
That sounds good. 👍
Hello, which is the quietest (DJi or Autel ?) thank you
They're about the same.
great idea!!! Lets go flying. I have a couple spots in mind off of hwy 55
I hear you. There are some great places to fly over the Payette. 👍
@@IdahoQuadcopter let me know and I'll drive
They are not the same speed, nano in sports mode 10m/s, mini 2 in nomal mode 10m/s, in sports mode, you can get 16m/s at most.
Hi Marcus, the main concern I have for the Nano+ is the short flight time compared to other sub 250g drones. I wonder what the flight time would be with the Nano+ obstacle avoidance turned off?
You might get more flight time with features turned off. No question it takes some energy to run a full featured drone like the Nano+.
Seems like everybody’s trying to get away from DJI I love the little mini 2
I agree. The Mini 2 is still the king of the Mini drones.
Comment 4 @ 8:15. Frame dropping. Argh! That's worrying! Please bear with me, was it a known good card properly inserted? I know, I know, but the question needs raising.
I'm sure Autel will fix the GPS issue with firmware. Still looking like a good little bird to me. 👍🏾
I sure hope so DeMarco. What GPS issues did you see?
@@IdahoQuadcopter The return to home landing.
autel win big time, dji finally have met its match, autel is too expensive, but sill would get it .
Its whatever you can afford here in UK mini 2 £480 combo/ Autel plus £850 not sure it's worth double.
I understand. The Mini SE is a real bargain at $299.
I’d say the Autel is a step forward in image quality. So nice to have alternatives to DJI.
It definitely is. But is it so much of a difference you would pay twice the price of the mini 2. Imo its not.. the litchi app working with the mini 2 is what made me pass on the autel nano
I agree! 👍
@@FastSloW-qt8xf It just depends what your priorities are. Imo it is clever niche marketing by Autel as the potential still image quality offered by this sensor (still to be proved) together with the extra flying freedom from
@@8thday204 I cannot believe people are seeing better video from Nano+ (even if that ought to be expected, given specs). It's oversharpened, losing some finer detail and looking more plasticly, which is especially obvious in the foliage. I don't see any improvement with the dynamic range either. Mini 2 footage is just more organically looking. Are there any other picture profiles and image settings with the Nano+?
there a firmware update coming so iv just seen on another video
I hope so. It needs it.
Not a fair comparison. Fly the nano mini not the nano plus against the dji mini2. Same size optics. The nano plus is almost twice the cost of the mini 2.
I'm not seeing a big enough difference to justify doubling the price. Mini 2 for the win... imo
The Nano needs some work......👍
The nano camera seems really blurry did anyone else notice that
It gets blurry when in all of his orbits. I’m wondering if he rendered the final video In a different frame rate than the drone shot in.
Why pay double when the mini 2 does the job? I guess if someone just has to have all the newest products.unless your a professional.
I think that there is a place for a high content Mini drone. 👍
Hey Marcus, have you updated the Zino Mini Pro to the 1.3.9? Would be very good to see that compared too! As I saw the 1.3.9 seems to fix the jello for a lot of people.
I did update, and it didn't seem to help much, at least for me.
@@IdahoQuadcopter A tip, go to the gimbal settings and Reset to defaults, they should apply the newest PID parameters, if you haven't done it yet.
Dji is the best still mini 2 is still the best
I'm surprised you didn't mention all the lens flare when turning toward the sun with the DJI mini. Also the nano had a obvious head
Wind which could be seen by the flag waving in front of the school. The second flight with the mini the school flag was hanging straight
Down. Later in the day winds usually drop. Also the horizon on the mini was not as straight as the nano.
Good observations. 👍
Mind dropped from the sky on Rth autel replaced it with new one
Still dont trust it as i my dji. But really want to gain confidence on it.
Only trouble some think is battery life is poor
An if i charge the days before i loose alot of charge.
My sons do love this drone.
Great comparison…by April we will have the mini 3 or whatever it will me called …thanks for sharing
Thank you, Jimi! Yes, we'll see what DJI brings to the party!
Comment #3 @ 7:56. Stable. There can be a significant difference between ground level wind speed and that even a few tens of feet or metres higher up, I wonder if that was contributing to slow flight and shaky video in your earlier videos? What do you think?
Mini 2: $449
Nano +: $949
You: A slight price advantage. Really?
Why not compare it to a Air2s? $50 difference.
Actually $949 is for their Premium Bundle, equivalent to the DJI Fly More kit at $599. The $449 is base kit, which is $799 for the Autel
This was comparing Mini drones. Thank you.
@Uncle Bill's Toys, exactly right!
I love my Mini 2, but if I'm being honest, I have to say the image quality is superior with the Autel. Thanks for the great comparison video!
No question the Nano has a great camera!
I have the mavic mini
the glare was way more pronounce on the mini2.. but also looks like the sun is a tad lower when he flow there Mini2 and that can tarnish the result a tad if the sun get down and bounces with the lens optics and the glareline to the sensor.
Dont have the mini2, but with the price in mind and trying to get an overview.. I reckon its been hands down the best sub250g drone on the market.
And when the mini 3 hit no one will think of this drone anymore ☺️
I'm looking forward to DJI's new Mini as well.
In the view with the mountains in the distance notice how the mini has the mountains washed out where the nano has more detail.
Great video 🤩, liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing ‼️
Thank you very much! I appreciate the support!
Great video and comparison Brother Crawford. Both birds looks great. Thanks 🙏 for sharing. Thanks 🙏 for all you do and please keep flying.
Much appreciated! Thank you Adrian!
@@IdahoQuadcopter You are welcome Sir.
Hi, I'm probably going to offer quite a few comments, so the first one must be to thank you very much for doing this, the comparison is going to be very helpful. I've liked and sub'd earlier.
Autel is just too much for what you get .. I enjoyed the video thanks for sharing
I agree. it would be different if the drone was better sorted. As it is, it's a dud.
Looks like The nano did better job handling the sunlight?
I do own a mini 2
I agree, my previous flight was in really bad lighting conditions.
Excellent comparison video. My Nano plus just arrived yesterday but I haven't had the chance to fly it yet.
I am hoping that any problems with the nano plus will be fixed with future firmware updates.
I think the Nano is pretty well sorted now. I do know that there was a recent firmware update.
Right, second comment at 5:49. Please be cautious about showing filming directly into the Sun. Probably OK at very low levels but at higher ones there is a very good chance of new folks burning their image sensors causing non repairable damage.
Unless stopping to hover for long time there isn't much risk...
Unless Autel forgot to put in UV and IR filters in front of sensor.
Know people who've done lots of 24/7 interval photography using Olympus compact digicams connected to PC and originally they had issues with sun's daily path on sky leaving trail on sensor.
But use of UV filter solved that issue.
(by now they propably have many cameras with more than million photos taken)
I presume others noted but when you were doing speed test at 12:20 with Nano. the American flag is visible blowing mildly directly in direction you are flying. Coincidence? Wind could be a little stronger at higher altitude. The flag was not blowing with the mini 2.
Yes, there was a little wind. 👍
You can make a difference Video to Dji Air2s to Eutel Nano+ in low light? Starting in city in Germany a very bad. Great performance.
Thank you. I may try that.
I'm curious about the 50mp photos, are they true 50mp? Also with the burst mode, how many fps for how many frames? I wish my mini 2 had a burst mode!
I'm not sure.
What a beautiful day to fly a drone! Nice new Nano drone but I don't feel the need to upgrade from my trusted Mini 2 to that! :)
Yes, the Mini 2 is still the one. 👍
Did you have the DJI exponential adjusted?
No, factory settings on both drones. 👍
The cell tower may be affecting your test results. Thanks for another great video 👍
Thank you very much!
Ggeezzee Marcus, five minutes in this weather and my fingers go numb.
Ha! I hear you Casey! 😁
All right Marcus looks pretty cold let’s get that bird in the air if we can😃
Yep, Robert, we got two of them in the air. 🙂
Are they better options than the hubsan zino 2 plus in terms of image quality?
I like the Zino 2 Plus quite well.
good video, there you have my like 👍
Thank you 👍
I do see the enthusiasm of people for the Autel, Nano, I wonder if it is not because nobody seen a new good product release for a good while because, for what it does I don't think it justify paying twice or close to the Mini 2
Yes, the Nano is not cheap. 👍
nice comparising Marcus
Thank you Patrick!
Nice comparison
Thank you!
Thanks for the comparison, you said you was working on the video when I asked. I think my Mini 2 is a bit more touchy on the sticks with the more powerful motors than the Mini 1, I find myself struggling more to find the smooth moves I was used to on the Mini 1
I need to adjust the expo settings on my Mini 2 in order to smooth out the controls.
@@IdahoQuadcopter yes I probably need to adjust the sensitivity settings which I keep forgetting to do also. Looking forward to seeing it some at Snake River soon 😜
If you turn mini 2 resution to 1080 u can zoom 4 times
Thank you!
Great video again, is 1X zoom the same as no zoom?
Thank you! Yes, that is exactly right. 1X is no zoom.
Can somebody please do a active track video
Yes, when the feature is available.
Comment #5 @ 11:30. Manually orbiting that cellphone mast is a very good demo of your piloting skills. It's not easy folks and I could not do it. My knowledge of flight theory is much better than my practical skills at present. I'm interested in sub 250 gram drones because recent UK changes have made it possibly illegal to fly from my own very large back yard with my current heavier drone until I obtain a new remote pilot certification, and to do that I need more flying practice as well as taking a course and passing an invigilated online theory test.
But the Nano+ is too expensive for a mini drone
I agree, it's not cheap.
I think that Nano+ have a better quality lens compared to DJI so in theory Nano+ should offer better video quality.
Adjusting IQ in firmware, increasing bitrate or adding other manual settings can be done by any of both companies, but if one of them is using a better quality lens that will be the winner, no matter the firmware improvements of the other.
Usually Chinese companies have big problems in finding good quality lens.
The camera in the Nano+ is quite good.
Thank you. Looking forward to the video comparisons off the SD card. I was wondering if the speed slowdown was going back against the wind. Makes me wonder if the body catches wind more than the mini 2
That was a great orbit
Thank you Robert!
It appears to me in the side by side video comparison at the end of your video that the Nano's colors and sharpness are noticeably better than the Mini2.
Unfortunately the Autel Nano +, is an 50% drone right now.
Lots of serious problems:
1. Disconnections Problems
2. Camera settings: Missing all the Manual Settings plus the 24p,25p etc.
3. Gps issues.
First DJI, now Autel.
THESE GAMES MUST BE STOPPED ✋
We ARE NOT BE BETA TESTERS
You have some issues.
You are so right!
Mini 2 has 4x zoom. You need to put it in 1080P to use it. Hold the left button and use the scroller/roll to gradually zoom in.
Yes, it sure does. 👍
That was a great comparison Marcus. The Autel EVO Nano+ is obviously the winner for video quality, hands down. However, the cost of it is so much more than the DJI Mini 2. I would expect that that most people investing in a mini compact drone will be more than happy enough with the price and video quality that the Mini 2 provides. I have opted for the Mini 2 for now and hope to get a maiden flight in during tomorrow, weather dependent.
I agree Kev. As an overall package the Mini 2 is the winner for me as well. The Nano still needs a little work.
With the issue of the Mini2 not orbiting smoothly, is it a matter of linear gain on the sticks? Don't know whether you can change the gain settings on the Autel, but perhaps it has more of an exponential curve on the gain, making finer movements easier.
That could also explain the "peppy" feeling of the mini, every input creating a fast output.
On my ancient Phantom 3 I have an adjustment for the sticks gain, unsure on the Mini or Nano.
I think that you're right. I need to adjust the expo on the Mini. 👍
Thank you Marcus for the comparison review on the mini2 and Nano mini. Now DJi has a competition to beat. Hopefully DJi would respond and release the mini3. Happy New Year 🎈🍰 🎆 from the Philippines.
Thank you, Sammy! Happy New Year! Yes, it is good to have a DJI competitor. 👍
Magnificent scenery on the horizon. What a wonderful place to live!
Your getting good at those manual orbits buddy, keep em coming! great job here Uncle Marcus!!!
Thank you Matty!! 🙃
Another good video! Sorry to see the issues with the Nano high def video files. Hopefully just a one time issue as this would definitely be a concern on every flight. Glad to see that you like the smooth flight controls on the Nano and that the speed issues are apparently gone. Autel needs to get issues fixed and I am cautiously optimistic that they will. At the price point of this drone it’s imperative that they do! Thanks for your efforts as always!
That's exactly right John. At that price point, it should be perfect.
Can't imagine why the speed would be different due to compass bearing but I would definitely look at that.
I'm thinking wind. Not 100% sure.
Ok,, I'm going to leave you all in peace now! Thanks to those kind enough to read my thoughts, I'm not claiming to be right, it's just things that sprung to my mind. A very big THANK YOU in particular to you the channel owner Marcus. I am really pleased to have come across your channel. A lot of hard work must go into making these videos and I do want to leave my appreciation for all of that. Best wishes everyone.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments @Bob UK. The Nano+ is a full featured drone. It's just not quite ready for prime time.
Nice and helpfull comparison Marcus!!! If I would decide to give double money for Nano+ I would buy an air 2s, because differences between these two little guys are very small. Οn the other hand the mini 2 is much older on the market and autel should have presented the next ''mini 3'' all this time!!!!!! Besides, the owners of mini 2 like me have the Davinci resolve to colorgrading 😂😂
Thank you Takis! I agree the Air 2S is a far superior drone to the Nano. 👍
What I really don't like about these cameras is that when you yaw, the image becomes blurry. Is that because of the frame rate?
I noticed that a couple of times on the Autel. Quite noticeable
@@SuperNova-py1ec They did it both but the Nano was worse. But my mini 2 also has this issue.
Yes, a higher frame rate would help. 👍
The real interesting compare will be the Mini 3 (coming in April) vs. the Autel. But what I would like to see is how much the pumpkin colour makes a difference with maximum VLOS range, which is a legal requirement here.
The Mini 3 is likely to be a great little drone. 👍
The autel no doubt a good drone and obstacle avoidance to be put to the test but that mini 2 no obstacle avoidance better battery life so my thing is the price is it worth people upgrading to the nano or are they better of with the mini 2 for a lot lot less hmmm great video Marcus still braving the cold for your audience lol 😁👍👌🇬🇧
Yes, the Nano is a high content Mini drone. It's just too bad that they didn't work out all of the bugs before releasing it.
