UK and Nato allies tested in FREEZING conditions on winter exercise

  • British troops have been taking part in Nato's biggest winter exercise in Estonia, as part of a multinational training group made up of 1,300 personnel and 120 armoured vehicles.
    The annual drills of Exercise Winter Camp are the first since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and the alliance believes these demonstrations of military capability and cohesion are key to preventing a Russian attack elsewhere.
    The UK has two squadrons of Challenger 2 tanks deployed to Estonia as part of a British-led Nato battlegroup stationed in the country.

    Had NATO done a similar action to this when Putin made his initial move in 2014, which he wouldn’t have expected, NATO and the West wouldn’t be having the threat of Russia today.

    • @Aaronsmith-cu8ii
      @Aaronsmith-cu8ii Год назад

      @@hippopotamus86 Joe, I am not a Z supporter by a long shot but the facts are facts.
      Russia remains in Ukraine and continues to attack Ukrainian cites is proof enough that NATO has not done enough. Article 5 aside, it is NATO’s collective mandate and responsibililty to ensure security on the continent period otherwise what is the purpose of the alliance if it cant even act against a imminent threat. The metric is simple if Ukraine is allowed to fail then Europe returns to the cold war.
      Acting proactively by placing tangible pre cursors in Ukraine in response to the Russian invastion of 2014 would have prevented Putins abitions from realisation let alone continuation. Instead Puntin now is refocusing, rearranging and reposistioning his forces in and out of Ukraine without consequence, 80% of Russians still support the War, Putin propaganda system is very active and effective within Russia, Western sanctions have failed to effect Russian industry and members of the Russian elite it was designed to target and large scale mobilisation continues unabated.
      NATO by all accounts is still playing catchup with ammunition shortages and its stubborn reluctance to realease any tangible military assests against an enemy who’s primary combat doctrine is the use of man power which Russia has plenty of. Russia historically wont even blink even after loosing several hundred thousand men and they are a long way from that number.
      Ukraine is loosing men also at a high rate along with ammo shortages and equipment losses that are becoming increasingly difficult to replace, Ukraine has finite resources.
      NATO’s reluctance to act from day one has based on Nuclear blackmail has embolned Putin to take the initaiative and continues to do so. Because NATO has fallen for this blackmail and has not responded accordingly Putin will not relinquish this initiative and any act by NATO from here on in will be viewed by the Kremlin as punitive, too little and too late and consequenly this disaster will continue unless NATO step up as Putin understands only the language of power.

    Impressive and its good for the British Army to be exercising with Allies. However, it is not sustainable if a war breaks out. 2 squadrons of tanks is a small force. The Army can deploy at most 2 brigades, maybe 1, and will run out of ammunition in 1 day in an intense war.

    Looks super, smashing and lovely. NATO has not got the resources to fight a war. UK needs to start building a properly equipped and trained military and that means spending money! Try to imagine how it would have been to fight in winters past without all of the modern high tech gear including clothing and self heating rations...Extreme of heat, wet, or cold still play havoc with modern weapons and equipment. I doubt that any amount of training can prepare any force to fight in the most extreme conditions against both the elements and an equally well equipped and well motivated foe indefinitely.
