What a great find and story. Thank you for documenting and sharing these treasures. You're 100% correct about these being the finds that car lovers dream about.
So cool Ryan!!! So thankful for your Love of these cool cars and tenacity for documenting all the cars you can. We all have the benefit of seeing these cars before, and a lot of times after they have been restored. I have followed your work for years and really appreciate all you do for the collector car hobby.
Growing up in Phoenix in the late '80s, there used to be a Superbird used as a daily driver at an office building in the Camelback corridor area. It was Petty blue, had lift shackles, and mag wheels; although I don't remember which kind. It was in nice shape. I asked about it inside the building, it was owned by a lawyer who drove it to work a couple of times a week. Even then, quite shocking to see that car parked among all the late model Mercedes, BMWs, and Lincolns.
It continues to amaze me how people get these rare cars, disassemble them or just park them due to a mechanical issue, then leave it to the environment. This bird is the exception, but I hope the owner doesn't get upside down before it's done and need to sell it to the restoration shop....that has happened in this hobby.
Damn guys why are you all such haters leave the guy alone not everyone has lots of money. He's got one you don't hopefully he'll get it done but if he doesn't he still has it
Goodday Ryan, Great video great to see the Super Bird getting reborn again they all need to be saved & reborn. Reminds me of a barn find here in Australia. Google this car 1972 CH Chrysler by Chrysler Hardtop. Super super rare but this one is even rarer 360 V8 P/S & D/S remote mirrors ( Rare ) Landau Vinyl Roof Option ( Super Rare ) Electric Window ( Unbelievable Rare ) Electric Seats ( Hens Teeth Rare ). Second owner had accident in 1983 put it in the barn & has been sitting ever since. Got all NOS parts to restore it. But his Grandson is going to make a Aussie version of the " Dukes of Hazzard " 1969 Charger. Makes you want to cry. Tried several times to buy but he will rather die than sell it. To this date still sitting there 40 years later. Best of luck with MCACN I so wish I can be there it is on my bucket list just that you can't drive there from Australia. Looking forward to the Super Bird & everything to do with MCACN. Say a big Aussie " GOODDAY MATE " to Kevin Osty from me. Cheers Louis Kats from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 🇺🇸 👍 🙂
@@AutoArchaeology just wondered where it was in the production line.. And how many were made..guess I could Google that.. Thanks for reply. Have a good week..
Cool story. Alpine white 440 4 Speed? Nice! Big Mike Shenck... who worked at Mancini Racing, owned a Limelight green 'Bird 440+6 barrel. After he died, I don't know if his family hung onto it, or not? He also had a black '66 Hemi Charger... don't know it's fate either?
I'm continually amazed at the number of old muclecars that get disassembled and 'stored' fairly early in their life. If you understand the times it's somewhat predictable. Back then those Superbirds were ugly ducklings, hard for dealers to unload. They were expensive and unusual looking. Some sat around past the new model year and had steep discounts as incentives to buy. Insurance on cars like that also cost more than the car payment and gas wasn't cheap anymore. They said this car was picked up on a used car lot, probably between $2k-3k, more towards the lower end I would guess. I doubt that car was disassembled like that all at once, but one things for sure, with parts scattered in the winds for 50 years and sitting in a barn, the chances of it going back together, at least by those owners is pretty slim to non-existant. Cool story though.
Don't worry about that cars condition, its fate is already sealed. Someday it will be bought by a millionaire who will restore it. Not today or tomorrow, but someday. It will then be sold to other millionaires just like every other high-end car like this. This one is just as expensive as any other Superbird/Daytona out there.
What a great find and story. Thank you for documenting and sharing these treasures. You're 100% correct about these being the finds that car lovers dream about.
Those are both very nice cars to find ....thanks
Can't imagine what this car will be worth if restored correctly. Nice nest egg. Awesome find and story.
Around 200k
@@Welcometofacsistube And about that much to restore currently.

@@AutoArchaeology Hey Ryan, big fan of the channel. Do you happen to know guys who have any older Direct Connection stuff for sale? Appreciated!
Not off hand, but there is always a good selection at the Mopar Swap in Detroit in January or the Indy swap in March.
@@AutoArchaeologythanks man 👍🏻
Stepping in another pile? You lucky guy! Absolutely love it!

It was just a car back then and he hadbother priorities.
It amazes you so much, yet, you didn't buy one for dirt cheap in 88 or 91? How could you???? I'm amazed.
I think Sara looks like the Super Bird. 😉 Happy Birthday Sara. 🎉🎉🎉

Crazy, just crazy someone would let this happen.
Shocking it wasn't sold already

Now wait a damn minute ! He parked it under cover in a dry barn and not in a field ? What a concept ! I bet no one saw that coming...
Well that's a couple of great finds! And assuming he's taking it to that shop and that state of missouri. It'll turn out fantastic.
Another great find, Ryan. Do you collect the VINs of these cars?
I do, but just for my own database.
You didn't say what number it was in production. Good video thanks. Great find.
They asked that the VIN not be fully shown.
@@AutoArchaeology just wondered where it was in the production line.. And how many were made..guess I could Google that.. Thanks for reply. Have a good week..
you as well
It's the son's turn to finish it
Damn I need new spectacles
I'm ready to pick up both of them

I know the Schenks. They did not keep those two.

You have some connections my guy to find these things. Did you run the carsinbarns site back in the early 2000's?
Nope, but I was a contributor.
Rare find there. Dont see many Superbird with the 440 Magnum and 4 speed. How's the work on your new model Challenger coming?
No word on either right now.
Did he have the original engine for it ?
He does not, he has another date correct engine for it though
Speaking of Superbirds, how is progress on the Hurricane bird?
I just had an update for the 1 years anniversary a few weeks ago
Wonder why you'd have to restore a car that new, with that low of miles?
Just the elements
Paradise
You have any good ideas on where I can get my 68 R/T charger restored. Someone trustworthy?
Absolutely, I have a few places. Drop me an email. It is in the description
how can I order a book that was at the show?
Both books are available on Amazon. Just google my name, Ryan Brutt.
Give us an update in 20 years from now. I promise it'll gonna look just like that lol ha ha ha ha 😮
The Superbird has already been dropped off at the restoration shop.
Is the bird for sale ?
It is not, it is being restored.
@@AutoArchaeology... Ok.. when? Another 20 years from now! 🙄
As it says in the video, it is at the restoration shop right now.
I have in Storage a 1969 roadrunner 440 six pack.
Really?! How long?
Let's refurb it! Roadrunner told me it needs a 6 pak!
Buy it! We'll make it your Mascot Business Traveler!! Super Joe Cool Theme I'd suggest....
I wish!
I guess that will be driving 50 years from now 😞
It is at the restoration shop right now.
It's a shame he ain't never gonna see it on the road either
The Superbird has already been dropped off at the restoration shop.
I would of restored super bird first
Yeee😃😃
This car will continue to be parked exactly where its at I'm sure the sun doesn't have a hundred thousand dollars to put into it 😅😂
The Superbird has already been dropped off at the restoration shop.
Poor Mike, his envy is sure on show! Nothing like a man envious of another… like Michael Merrelli. He might show up on your door with a light knock.
Haha he's not going to touch it, Doubt if knows much about the vast experience project anyway.
It is at the restoration shop right now.
How old are you
I'm 39
So I own a super bird 🙄 bragging rights… not so much
Select wall it's still has a little bit of dignity left You ain't gonna do anything with it but leave it sit exactly where it is
Should just call it in pieces super bird Or super pieces
They both could use a little rebuilding. 😢 shape.

You are correct. We do know this.
Dumpy old barn , probably dirt floor never see the light again to the scrap man gets it such a shame
I have to look at comments because I’m getting seasick watching the video. Sorry, but the car will never get finished.
It is at the restoration shop right now

Yall want to be sick, my uncle Homer had a black superbird, traded it in on a new black 73 el camino SS, it was an ugly used car back then
