Side to side is really fun tbh. I have few tips to share as well! I'd say there are two roles in side to side, someone who carry the whole game (carrier) and someone who become the guardian of the group. Most of the case the guardian would be someone who doesn't have +4 but it still can work otherwise depending on condition. Indeed, don't use +4 that early but don't feel too hesitate to use it if needed. Here comes some tips. 1. Sometimes guardian needs to use +4 to change the color. Notice the card before your partner change it, challenge it if they have the color right before it changed. Don't instantly stack or draw. If your partner understand work in team, they surely won't make you take the card unless to low the risk (since wilds are worth -50). I have this situation where our position switch. So, my partner only have {Blue +2 and Wild} and I have {few cards including blue and a +4}. It's really risky to play +2 since everyone likely have it anyway, so I sacrificed myself by putting +4 to let them use +2. It's also an act of protect since there are possibility you draw cards other than +4. As I expected, the opponents have +4 so it will skip my turn directly to my partner. If I don't do that, they will take 14 cards since I had +4 before. 2. If the order is Guardian -> Carrier, you can use your wild to ask a color that your OPPONENT DON'T HAVE. Instead, your guardian will change the color for you as long it isn't interupted by stacking etc. This is very helpful especially if both you and the opponents have the same color on last minute. As example, in order: Current color: green You: [Wild, Green] Opponent 1: [Green] Opponent 2: [Green] Guardian: [Wild and the other cards] Hence, you need to change it to another color so it won't let them win and your guardian will change the color for you. 3.Tricking opponents. In certain condition, you need to drop +4 to avoid opponent from winning. If you are guardian, use your wild to change the color that the carrier don't have then the carrier can drop +4. The intention is to make the opponent draw 6 cards if they challenge it. 4. If possible, it's also ok to let the discard-all action become the last card. I know discard-all action become the quickest way to drop cards. But remember, everyone maybe just as same as you. You need to see the air. Also remember, maybe a group of colored cards have helpful item like reverse. So, you need to use your card wisely. 5. Drawing a card won't hurt instead of impulse dropping +4 just because you don't have certain color anymore. In some case, you need to skip your turn too to let reverse works between your team. So, you don't reverse it to opponents. I mean, dropping 3 or even 4 cards is really worth for the price of drawing a card. In the end, take a look at everyone cards. Some tips can be pretty situational, so you need to get used on reading the atmosphere. For beginners, don't forget to hit Uno BEFORE dropping second-to-last card 🥳
