The Effect is truly an underrated gem like yes it is traumatizing, depressing and hard to watch but I loved that it DID NOT romanticize rape or Sexual Assault/ SA like so many other BL dramas( like there r countless BL dramas that they disregard consent of one party and force themselves onto another character when they do not want it and not to mention the amount of dubious consent moments in drunk scenes which by no means actually means a character giv consent cuz they r drunk) like yes there r some recent BL dramas that also now tackle this issue I would say that The Effect has the most realistic and a darker approach which is a real eye opener for all the delusional ppl who giv into the romanticization of SA in BLs. I also appreciate they touched upon the sad but all too real psychological and physical aftermath rape has on victims in which most dramas gloss over making the aftermath of rape romantic or comedic and in which rape victims have absolutely no trauma or psychological aftermath which is highly unrealistic

Yeah such a trauma leaves long time depression, anxiety, PTSD and other things it's really hard to maintain their mental health, and ofcourse it's freakin hard,I know and I can totally relate it🙌🤗 Thanks to these BLs makers, actors that they put so much effort to show what is "reality".

I truly believe that it's good to put ourselves in each actors place. I understood each of them and the struggles they each had. I believe that he loved shin but didn't understand the kind of person he was and becoming until he did that and the pain he as well delt with knowing he could not fix what he had done. I get it ,but under no circumstances should you feel bad for a rapist, it doesn't matter if he felt the consequences of his actions (which he didn't even face all that bad) i could have gone with the pity cry scenes, if you do something horrible nobody should feel bad for you because you're sad about the repercussions. Seeing how he got to that point and sympathizing are different, never be a rape apologist, shin shouldn't have died it should only have been his rapist.

Shin had a great support system. His friends and parents were there for him when he was suffering. Sadly, This is something not everyone is fortunate to have

Rape is a horrific and terrifying experience with anyone. I am glad that this showed it. I have seen many dramas who seem to romanticize it for both straight and gay couples and legit terrifies me!! Like what kind of picture are you telling people that its ok to force someone as long as you so call love them. WTF!! If you rape someone you done not care for them all you do is want to posses them and people are not belongings !! Makes me sick bc i have scene the outcome of it in real life and it destroys people. It leaves dark shadows in there hearts and soul. Not only does it destroy that person but also the people who love and care for the person that was hurt bc to watch as a rape victim loses the happiness in there eyes is torture because there is only so much a person can do to try to pull someone out of a dark hole they were forced in by some sicko !!! I pray for whoever goes through such a horrific event! Pray they have true people who can help them heal and if they dont i pray that they will find good people that can!

And it's not like their punishment is big... Mostly just a few years compared to the harm they did it's extremely small... As for men... Usually they don't report due to the social stereo system... Just watched this and .... even for me, it was a hard watch. It was really realistic and the actors did an amazing job here! You could feel the pain and sorrow! And the end... I wasn't prepared, I want to know more! His friends are the best humans you could possible find out in the world and they were so cute at the end!
This edit made me audibly gasp at the end. I haven't even heard of this series before. I'm very conflicted about watching it because I honestly watch entertainment as a form of escapism. After getting upset from the edit alone sure makes me think I'll be a mess after watching the actual series.
Drama for my part that I liked a lot and which wants to be realistic because this kind of thing is real unfortunately, I hated Keng so much. One of the highlights of the last episode, when Shin in the hospital tells his mother "Why didn't you let me die?" Rather hard to hear.
