- Many attorneys offer both free consultations and paid consultations, depending on what you are trying to accomplish. The key to understanding the difference, is that generally attorneys will not give legal advice without being first hired by the client. Attorneys don’t give legal advice without first being retained for a myriad of reasons, including requirements from their malpractice insurance carriers.

If I called the law office and explained my work injury case and the law office called me back and asked me to come in for a free consultation, does that mean I might have a good case?
i called a estate lawyer in Illinois he said i do not need to do a probate since my father property goes automatically to me and has no bank accounts is this true he also said that he said if my dad had over 100k that would qualify for probate but since its only property probate in not needed is this true?????
Because my situation includes dozens & dozens of documents I have collected well over the last 10 yrs. since my Father passed and my initial consultation may be very 'dimensional', I feel more comfortable laying out my Mothers Elder Financial Abuse situation in person. Is it possible to schedule that first introduction face-to-face ? No problems with the traveling OR retainer. This really needs attention. Thank you. J.K.
