I like the disc artwork. Reminds me of a vinyl record. As for the music there are a few changes. Sticking with ROTS, the first song at 3:14 abruptly fades into the next part whereas the original has an instrument added to smooth the fade into. It's not enough to derail my enjoyment of the track but it's jarring nonetheless.
Many tracks are missing on the remastered versions of the original trilogy. For example the entire hoth battle is missing.. Also the 3 movements of the battle of Endor are missing too..
Isaac Lundgren Artist Composer They also cut out an entire second disc of music. The OT albums (in particular the 1997/2004 one) were two-disc sets and alot got cut like Cantina Band #2 and the three phases of the Endor battle. EDIT: Upon further research the remastered soundtracks for IV-VI are using updated versions of the ORIGINAL soundtrack instead of the Special Edition soundtracks which means "Lapti Nek" and "Yub Nub" are back.
Hi I have the the Original RotS soundtrack as well as the Start Wars Anthology 4 CD set from the 90s (in Flac). Do you think the other Remastered Releases (the striped ones like RotS) (Menace, Attack, Sith, New Hope, Empire and Jedi) offer superior sound quality when compared to Anthology, Menace OST Attack OST? Thanks,
I didn't have the original soundtrack CDs from the prequels, so got the remasters. I've also always wanted CD versions of the vinyl soundtracks of the original three films, so got those remasters, too. I'm very glad these were made.
Thanks for pointing that out! I’m also noticing in general they’ve added a slight reverb to the remaster, seems to help the sounds blend together better...
But it isn't the Complete Score as I expected. They released the full score for Episode I, but they didn't for Ep.II and III, I think low sales affected that.
@@al112v4 Well that's where fans come in. I don't remember where but there was a site dedicated to John Williams' music and they compiled an "unofficial" Ultimate Soundtrack for ATOC and ROTS.
I wonder if it You Tube can even convey the rematering difference after re-encoding, or are your ears just better then mine? I've always loved this John Williams work (and most of the movie) Padme's Ruminations, Anikan's Betrayal and Battle of Heroes are full of sublime gut punches. And that "a musical journey" is more of a series of music videos from all six movies; It's pretty sweet for some quick William's Star Wars feels, though unfortunately as the soundtrack came out before RotS, they could only use trailer footage mixed to "Battle of Heroes".
You are correct about the audio compression, unfortunately! There were two additional levels of compression from the time the videos were made... once from exporting out of the video editing application, and once from RUclips’s “encoding” process! It is harder to distinguish the difference now! I did notice, both the old and new albums are available to sample on iTunes, which does give a fair conparison between the two versions... the preview tracks on Amazon are very heavily compressed which make it impossible to distinguish a difference from their site! Thanks for summarizing the “musical journey” DVD for the other viewers! That’s a shame about only using the trailer footage for Revenge of the Sith... the music really is fantastic on that album!
Also your speakers/headphone play a huuuge role. I imagine to hear at least a slightly differences regarding the "volume" of the sound. Way more "roomy"
Has anyone else noticed there's weird glitchy sound artifacts at around 4.05-4.44 on '15. A New Hope And End Credits' on the 2018 remaster? At first I thought it might have just been the compression on Spotify, but the high resolution digital download has the same problem unfortunately...
I'm gonna get the remastered versions after I get the other original Star Wars Albums including the last 5 and after I get them, I'm gonna get the remastered versions so I can compared to the originals like you did with Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith CDs.
the mini poster takes away the cover! I have ordered Eps 4, 5 and 6 soundtracks, had to check though if they werent budget stuff, as the cover really looks like its from a cheap company unfortunately
I bought it when it was new from an actual brick and mortar store (15 years ago), it’s one of my favorites. Today, you could try Amazon, eBay, or maybe used/books/music stores in your area...
Sweet deal for Spotify users! I agree about the percussion, it is brought out a little too much in some tracks... something I hadn’t yet noticed while making the review vid.
Isaac Lundgren Artist Composer All the process should have been supervised by John Williams himself, these subtle but noticeable changes in the mix are annoying, but even without him the result is remarkable, mastering and recording are great compared to the original, way more crisp, bright and wide
Neither version is worth it, if you ask me. So many tracks from the movie are left out of the original; "Padme's Plea," "The Boys Continue," and "I am the Senate," to name a few. And it looks like this version is no different. Humble youtubers have made more complete soundtracks!
Yeah it's a trend I really don't understand. If I buy the music of the film, I want the damn music of the film, not only 1/8th of it, and not some "rearranged"/"reedit" version of it. Why is it that the Complete Soundtracks are presented as "bonus" or "ultimate editions"? They should be the regular version
@Trey Stephens he was over play it was not that dark evil as we know from a sithlord could be cool if he have been a sith lord but was safe as this Cyborg
@Arnold_Rimmer 1 second ago Are you kidding? The original Ewok celebration song and "Lapti Nek" are great. I hate that they were changed for the special edition movies.
How is it that the prequels can suck so unbelievably bad but John Williams music is still so beautiful. It’s like it comes from a completely different movie.

The biggest differences are between the original trilogy soundtracks.
Thanks for pointing that out, I have yet to listen to the remastered originals in their entirety. :)

the first track is better than the original cd, we can hear the drums after the star wars theme.

That’s great, when I got the original on iTunes, I was disappointed that we couldn’t hear the epic drums!

The remaster is much fuller. Nice to know Disney didn't just repackage.
Do you have the Return of the Jedi one? it has the music from the original 1983 version.

The artwork looks nice when you have all the 6 CDs together. Each one represented by a different color. The sum is greater than the parts.
Debating getting them because I think they’d look good with my sequel cds...
I love how they feature 6 lightsaber colors too! White, Yellow, Purple, Blue, Red, and Green.

I have the original ROTS soundtrack along with the original trilogy soundtrack.
Yeah the good 100000% out weighs the bad. Only down side some of the original attacking dynamics were toned down a bit. That’s it tho
