Liesel Mitchell is a coffee-loving conversationalist and researcher/writer from Aotearoa New Zealand. She has lived with type 1 narcolepsy with cataplexy since she was 15, and wants to start conversations in Aotearoa about this “invisible” neurological condition. Liesel is excited to raise awareness through Project Sleep’s Rising Voices program, and to share the many positive insights she has gained from managing life with narcolepsy.
To improve public understanding of sleep disorders, Project Sleep’s Rising Voices program trains people with sleep disorders to share their stories through public speaking and writing with local communities, healthcare providers, news outlets, blogs, podcasts, and beyond. Combining the power of real-life stories with expert communication strategies, our Rising Voices trained speakers and writers are effectively raising awareness and reducing stigma for all those facing sleep disorders.
