I have owned 3 W212 and always took them to Mercedes to have work done on them! Thank you for making videos like this because now I can do some of the simpler fixes myself. And the POV shooting style is great
@@mikeicee I’m with you on the B6 Yellow Shocks/Struts for a performance upgrade. I put the Black B4s on the rear so probably do the same on the front. I might do new springs also. Not for sure yet.
SO true! And the hilarious things while shops charge SUCH a massive premium because it's a European car, my 2015 E350 is actually about one of the EASIEST cars I've ever had to wrench on. Modern Fords are WAY harder to work on by miles. The W212 platform's a mechanic's dream to work on in my opinion. You can do it, Shaunte! 100%
The most annoying thing is that parts support from Mercedes is the best in the business and for many things not (that) expensive at all. If you can maintain one yourself they're actually as cheap as a old Vauxhall/Opel. Mercedes shops just charge ungodly high amounts of money for their labour.
The springs look the same top and bottom but they are subtly different. If yours are not marked then take a close and careful look at the ends; the one that has more of a downturn goes at the bottom. The coil that is flatter is for the top, Learned that the hard way. Also if you dont have access to a dedicated Mercedes spring compressor you may need to use 2 sets of standard spring compressors
@@sudhikrish9785 My original shocks were completely done and bad, the bilsteins (black ones) feel similar to original. I heard the yellow bilsteins are better.
I ✔️ the LIKE button. The coil spring broke front drivers side 2014 E350 Sport/Economy ( top coil of spring) 2 days ago when I was sitting in the car. It sounded like an explosion. Going to tackle replacing the coil spring. Any suggestions? Any precautions to take other than the compression?
@@mikeicee if you watch my videos I have been fighting a clunk on the front left wheel when pushing in on the top of the tire when on the ground. I just changed my whole steering knuckle today only thing left is strut mount maybe ?
@@G_G_AutoCareLLC It could be... you definitely have a clunk. Also you can check your brake fluid... if its color of Cola or Dr Pepper instead of golden yellow it might show that whatever you have the ESP is fighting it.
@@mikeicee hmm 🤔 never thought about that but the clunk is only when rocking your weight on the 12 o clock position of the tire . No clunk when car is jacked up.
I did not LOL, car drives just fine... I think on these cars only the toe is adjustable upfront and you need to buy bushing/bolt kits if the other 2 are out of spec.
@@mikeicee brooo just did my struts with the bilstein b4 replacement it was noooooo joke the spring is under massive amounts of tension more than any car have ever worked on. But in the end I knocked it out will be installing units in car tomorrow morning

Thanks. I did my rear shocks and springs. Now time for the front.
The regular Bilsteins work great, but kinda regret not trying the more fancy yellow ones.

@@juicebox22a The b4 are pretty much like the factory feel, but I'mm curious on the B6. I didnt want to spend the extra on the B6 at the time.
Great video I like this style and the funny commentary. Very clear also.
Thank you, it's very detailed, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
God bless you with what you need
Having a luxury car it’s expensive , and I’m a woman and mechanics be trying to rob you, appreciate the knowledge ✅👍🏽

No, you’re the best bro! Don’t forget it!
Nice Video but could you tell me the size sockets you used to loosen the wheel hub to take it the strut
I got a used car inspection on my car and I wanted to see the process ? How much time does it really take to replace it
great video. Can you do the front and rear suspension component replacement? including tie rod
Do you happen to have part number I have a 2007 Mercedes e350 would this part fit car?
POV is ideal. 👍🏻🏴
Thank you...
Hi are the w204 front shocks the same as the w212 front ? Rwd ? I know the have slightly different part numbers but they look exactly the same ?
I know the W212 has many W204 parts, I would just use the original parts unless you want to achieve something special
Will those struts work for the sport model? I have the staggered wheel setup.
Very clear video.
Has the comfort and sport mode.
Thank you 👍🏽
Thanks for the info bro. Is the default Mercedez shock better or the bilstein one according to you.
They seem about equal. In my case the Bilstein were cheaper. I think I put maybe 70K miles on them and they are still good.
@@mikeicee is there any ride difference you felt after changing , I mean change in softness or stiffness

The default shock absorbers for mercedes are produced by sachs. Pretty good i would say
what is the name of the spring compression tool?
Did you get a wheel alignment after you changed your struts ???
Isn't really necessary. You don't mess with the alignment when doing the struts.
Isso sim é um vídeo digno de elogios
Obrigado meu bom amigo pelas palavras gentis.
Thank you bro

Can you do Front and rear suspension ?
Great Job . perfect
How did the car drive afterwards I think my shocks are goneee I have a 2014 e350 4 Matic 115k should I change the strut mount as well ?
I feel every bump
I didn't change mine and have no problems yet.

Great video except for SCARY HAMMER! Ball Peen for Mechanical work!
Good call! I was just tapping not really hammering but safety first! Thanks Martin!
pain in the ass. I need to do this soon. It burns me up that you pay that much money for Bilstein and they paint them black. They should be yellow.
You can buy the yellow Bilsteins, they cost a little more. My shocks were so worn even gravity couldn't hold them up.
Keep it up"Nice.!!! You could get the engagement you deserve with P R O M O S M!!!
You skipped the most basic step - how to jack up the dam car to place simple jack stands under it. Shit...
If you dont know how to jack it up its definitely not a good idea to do suspension work.
Are the shock absorbers the same on the w212 facelift?
They look similar if not the same... some of the V8/ AMG models have active suspension.
