1987 we had to watch this in jr high school in cross lanes West Virginia for mandatory hunter education, crazy that you found it. Thanks for posting man.
Im a younger guy, went through a Texas Hunters Safety course five years ago and we watched this. Surprising how somethings don’t loose their relevance.
So glad to see a film like this pop up. Honestly i'm trying to catalog things like this for my personal use so when I have a son or daughter of my own I can better educate them in a way that perhaps is a little more clear cut than i'm capable of explaining myself. So many films and educational tools that have been lost to time due to the so called modernization of our educational system.
I heard of an incident a few years ago...not sure if it is true or not....But a guy shot a deer with a rifle in the woods one day and hauled it out on his back. When he got to his truck it had an arrow in it.
My son just watched a version of this for his hunters safety class in Michigan. It was played on a vhs tape via a tube tv on a wheeled cart. (high school flashbacks) The footage is nearly exactly the same but the voice over is different. I'm still searching for the version I saw. Any help would be appreciated.
Great Video i enjoyed it and lived by it growing up in God and The Great Outdoors at a young young i was never taught about Hunting Fishing and Trapping but in Hunting i was never taught about Hunter Safety Education 101 by my step father uncle or anybody in my Families :( but later on my great best buddy Andrew taught me NRA Hunter Safety Education during the Covid Pandamic Of 2020 yes it was hard but it was worth it i am thankful to God and Andrew he helped out with it online and i passed but now step dad mom and uncle were mad at me for taking it they told me i didn't need it but idc i am always wanting to learn something new😇
Wow, I thought for sure I guessed right on the first one. I thought the pond would have been a safe backdrop, but I was mistaken. I never thought about a ricochet!
Nice info hunting's a,ways been dangerous but if your careful you can do just fine plus I've managed to get a deer as a land owner and it was my 1st try too! Not alot of people are like that!
12:37 Idk how a guy from like 40 years in the past, whom I’ve never met, could make you feel so good with his words… and I wasn’t even the one taking the shot! If that doesn’t give you a warm feeling…
Hunter safety and gun safety is too simple and basic. You just dont point the gun at anything u dont plan to destroy. Pay attention to what's around. Know where is and isnt legal. Pay attention to the gun. Be legal to have a gun.
Thanks for watching! Glad you appreciate this, and thanks for being a sub. Love our channel? Help us save and post more orphaned films. Support us on Patreon: www.patreon.com/PeriscopeFilm

They should make this part of every school education same with gun safety like back in the 50s and 60s
They should still do stuff like this like a elective hunting or gun safety course it would be awesome

I remember watching this film back in the mid 80. Brings back memories. Thanks for posting this.
5:38 - The drill for deer season. "Find a spot and stand perfectly still all day long...And try not to freeze to death"🤣😂
Sjr class middle school :)

This is such a right of passage. Hunter safety is when u learn the difference between Hollywood gun handling and real life gun handling.

I watched this for my hunters safety in 2015.
Wow David Brenner is so young in this video. I didn’t realize he was a hunter.

Oh yeah bullets can ricochet off water. That is something my father taught me long ago.

Gun ownership is a constitutional right. gun safety should be taught in schools like back in the 50s and 60s
Great video. Thanks for posting.
