You are the only other person I've seen who holds their yarn the way I do. I'm not alone! I attend a lot of indoor meetings that are casual dress. I think these would be great. Thank you!
I made some into boots a few years back and would wear them out. I finished off the sides of the flip flop with a chain stitch that I glued around. Loved those things...
Love this idea!!!!!!!! My 43 year old daughter asked me to make them for her.......great instructional video....can't wait to make a pair for myself too
I actually made a pair of these today for my grand daughter, my own daughter sent me the link and went shopping for my supplies to have me make them for her... I've got seven pair to make now! Since I didn't watch the video through before making them, we didn't size down as suggested. I've made two strings of chain stitch and thread them in the top of the slipper. They will tie in a pretty bow towards the side, near the small toes area. What a wonderful video you've shared with us! I also used an awl bought from the seeing section at Walmart and I used the 45* angle so the yarn doesn't get walked on.
Update to soles: I have actually updated this pattern by shoving the awl from the top out the side of the sole, leaving the bottom solid. It helps with the yarn not being walked on the bottom & wearing out quickly. Thx!
Thank you, thank you, and may I please comment on your teaching abilities, what a exceptional teaching ability you have. Exceptional. Very exceptional skill.
This is an awesome tutorial! I tried a similar pattern from somewhere else, and got lost at the decorative toe. I can do this one! I love how patient and clear your instructions are. I would recommend this one, to understand the toe and heel decreasing part, as a beginner crocheter like myself, before venturing into a more complicated pattern. I love the simplicity! Thank you sooooo much. I think I will rip back to the first row on the sole, which was done with the slanted holes, thank goodness!
I am so excited about making these slippers. your awesome..looking firward to more of your teachings. Thank you soooo much...Dallas Stewart..Longview .Washington
I absolutely loved making this shoe with you! my legs and feet swell up so bad that I cannot get regular shoes on. With this pattern I can make my own! Thank you so much!
I have actually updated this pattern by shoving the awl from the top out the side of the sole, leaving the bottom solid. It helps with the yarn not being walked on the bottom. Hope this helps with your outreach program! I think that's wonderful!!!! Bless you!
Thursday Tobie everybody getting something crocheted for christmas. I save money as well as the gift is something I put my love into. I love crocheting
Thank you so very much for this tutorial. You did a wonderful job. Easy to follow and you get right to it with out the long preamble some RUclipsrs tend to do. Love Love Love it. I made a pair of these using your directions. The things I did differently: Used another pair of flip flops to cover crochet threads and give more cushion to the soles, I used E6000 glue to join them and secure plugs in bottom flip flop extending into top flip flop about 1/4 of the way. I used "Knitcrosheen" instead of yarn. After doing 3 rows of single crochet I used some different stitches to give a more interesting pattern to the upper. For intermediate and advanced crochet you should be able to improvise on the stitches used. I also added a strap across the arch section of shoe. Wish I knew how to attach a pic to this, but alas you will just have to use your imagination.
You can use clear drying silicone to fill those holes. That way it will be clear and not poke you in the foot. That's also what I use on the bottom of my crochet footies.
Like Jessica Mendes I wonder if you have tried going on up and making a bootie? It would be so cute for cooler weather and for wearing outdoors. Your top to side punching is a great idea to make them more weather proof. Your skipping repetitious parts is great. Good, clear instruction! Thanks!
I love your video you explain what your doing very well, I'm going to share your video with my daughter in law and friend. They are just starting out crocheting, this will be a great frist project for them.thank-you!Jeannie thiesen
So much good info, but I think I would put the holes from the sides going up to the top. The tutorials are fantastic. Very simple and clear instructions. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for sharing. You teach well. Quick, simple, and easy to get supplies that don't cost too much. Such a fun and useful project. Great video. I was wondering if a person were to get Shoe Goo, I think that is what it is called, and just sort of brushed it on over the yarn on the bottom of the shoes, maybe that would keep the yarn from wearing out so quickly and make it a bit water proof for walking outside. Just a thought. Thanks again for the great tutorial. Oh, I have purchased the Shoe Goo in the shoe department at Walmart for shoe repair.
Thank you! If you read through comments I posted an update to punch holes in an angle out the side of the sole. That's my revised version of this pattern. Just haven't done the tutorial update :) happy hookin :)
thanks for the video. I'm going to do this later and follow you as i go. i have people asking me if i make these. i hope it gors well so i can say yes i can make those.
I love this tutorial and I love that you have updated it to put the holes on the side of the flip flop (can't wait to see the updated video too!) I am curious, how long does a pair typically last you? I didn't see any comments about this and I'd love to be able to share this with anyone that make these for- I am loving these! Living in Las Vegas- we are a flip flop happy community! :) thanks!! Molly
Molly Mac thank you! I'm still wearing both pair. The first pair is showing wear on the yarn on the soles but still intact. Theb2nd pair with holes on the sides, going great. I wear them as slippers around my home, letting dog out, etc. so far so good! Going on a year now!
Molly Shadows aw I’m glad! There is a revision video on the sole. Pole your holes at a 45 degree angle out the side instead of to the bottom. Elevates the yarn wear issue.
I need this slippers are out of season...flip flops aren't and my daughter won't sleep without shoes I have to sneak them off after she falls asleep and some nights she wakes up to me taking them off and Lord help me if she wakes to that lol...slippers is my only hope but got the it's a season thing omg I wanted to crawl in fetal pissition at Walmart on the spot...I finally had a solution to this chaos and nope can't get them now...ugh! so I was trying to find a way to make slipper patters nonslip and nothing seems like it would last or would work...this is brilliant now to find her size flip flops and cheap like the adult kind...ty
Enjoyed your video! Easy to follow. I've done a little experimenting with your pattern and I've found a higher quality flip flop avoids tearing when you're doing the foundation.
I'd use a size "G" for the "second" part, the base of the shoe, (not the sole, there I also used an "I") as opposed to an "H". But that's personal preference. I also poked the base holes of the sole closer together. Nice video, thanks !
I am making some and when I do the holes I do them differently as to where there will be no yarn on the bottom of the sole. I'm afraid I will get them caught on something and trip lol my dumb luck.
I made this and they are really made to fit to size because my feet are somewhat skinny and when I was done I could have got a whole nother foot in it.
I think an outdoor glue or rubber glue is better and just use the thin part and plug. Those bottoms bits are notoriously falling off. That Aileens would never last. It's not made for that. Love the project. You should reinforce your yarn with outdoor glue on soles also or cover with a piece of rope round edge to cover yarn .
Love these. I was wondering if you have a pattern on making them as just a slip in slippers- no back. I'm looking to do slippers like that with the flip flop sole but can't find a pattern/tutorial.
Laurie Martin yes I’m not sure why it did that when I uploaded it. I didn’t want to have to reshoot the ending, so I left it. I’m not a professional by no means lol just having fun with tutorials. ✌🏼
I am from India. loved your video. I want to know which size have you made these slippers. I want to make for my nephew whose size is 7 like my daughter.
I think it would add to the longevity of the shoe if you started your holes from the middle of the side of the sole at an angle up through the top of the sole. There will be no yarn on the bottom of the sole.
2bless8 Arrh why not got to poundland and buy an inside sole (the ones you put in your shoes ) and do the crocheting around that the glue to flip flop like an inside sole and start from thier
I started making some for my mother in law and had her try it on but of course it's too big do you have any ideas to add something to make the back shrink without re- doing it?
Hi. and thanks. I know the pattern or info has been changed for the placement of the hole to an angle on the side and top. my question is does it last longer? cause many have complained that it is easier to tear through the holes in the side. especially if it's the thinner flop flop
Here is what I am going to do....I am going to use two pair of flip flops. I'm going to put holes through one pair and make the slippers then I am going to glue the second pair to the bottom to cover the stitches. :)

hello. how are you. I want to know that row 8 and 9 are only single crochet under each stich before writing tie off or do we reduce stiches in row 9 asdonecincrow 5 and 7.

Praise the Lord. going to make these, I'll get back with ya. thank you for sharing. love and Shalom
Great video - you are so clear in your instructions.
Loved your video!! I also like how you specified on one less size to make them them feel more secure.Thank you.
Update to soles: I have actually updated this pattern by shoving the awl from the top out the side of the sole, leaving the bottom solid. It helps with the yarn not being walked on the bottom & wearing out quickly. Thx!
Where do I find the revised video, or is there a video??
+Robin Howell I haven't made a revised video yet, just posted a comment on hee. Thx.
Thank you.
I was wondering if that could be done so they don't wear out on the bottom so fast, I haven't made them, but just thinking
Can you make a video of how to do that even if it doesn't include the rest I don't know how to do thay
Thank you, thank you, and may I please comment on your teaching abilities, what a exceptional teaching ability you have. Exceptional. Very exceptional skill.

thank you for showing this it was very informational I like the way you explained I'm going to try this thank you
Thank you for showing how to do this! I think I am going to do these for Christmas this year.
You're such a creative soul (no pun intended), thank you for sharing!
I absolutely loved making this shoe with you! my legs and feet swell up so bad that I cannot get regular shoes on. With this pattern I can make my own! Thank you so much!
So glad you liked it!!! So easy and its flip flop weather again, so buy up a ton of them! :)
Great idea and well presented. I am going to make these for my 7 Operation Christmas Child boxes for this year. Thanks for the video.

Hi,
Love the idea!!!! Thanks for sharing !!!!
You can use clear drying silicone to fill those holes. That way it will be clear and not poke you in the foot. That's also what I use on the bottom of my crochet footies.
Great tips!! Thanks!!!
You use just silicone as the sole? is this instead of attaching a sole?
+mzjuicygq06 no I use the silicone to plug the holes.
+creamsodayoda oh ok. thank you.
+creamsodayoda
Great idea. Do you have a product name for that silicone?
Like Jessica Mendes I wonder if you have tried going on up and making a bootie? It would be so cute for cooler weather and for wearing outdoors. Your top to side punching is a great idea to make them more weather proof. Your skipping repetitious parts is great. Good, clear instruction! Thanks!

a very big thank you. I will start tomorrow.
Excellent video thanks for sharing these will be perfect to walk on hot sand at the beach.
my flip flops were really thin...so I used a hair pen...I bend it into a crochet needle and I used it to pull the yarn throw its working fine
I made them but they fit big even though I bought a small size...but love the idea just need to practice thank you so much...love the tutorial.
Wow i love it. Thank you very much!!!!

Perfect, this vídeo it's súper , very Well explained,
Thanks . Well done !
Aww thank you Malena!
Great video. Thank you. I am not very good at crocheting but want to get better. Love these and want to try them.
i love this! could you do one where you use flip flop bottoms but instead of stopping at 9, keep going into like a boot type slipper?
You just helped a girl out haha I've been trying to figure out how to make these for forever!!! Thanks so much
I like they way you go thru the bottom of the sole instead of the side looks like there will be less tearing
Enjoyed your video! Easy to follow. I've done a little experimenting with your pattern and I've found a higher quality flip flop avoids tearing when you're doing the foundation.

How?
I love your idea As an younger girl I love to crochet ☺

Wow wow wow! I likes so much, thanks for your knowledge than is good, i will try the first pair for myself !!!😃
I used an old pair of crocs to make these. One way to avoid the holes that are in flip flops.
awesome!! Comfy too~!
WHY have I never thought of this!?
Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to transforming my flip flops. Altough in Australia we call them thongs!
wow thats an incredible craft idea. thank you so much for the video. I think I found my stocking stuffers I'm subscribed now. Have a blessed Day.

construction glue for the plugs & nail and wood block for the holes!

lyk it..innovative ideas..
Hi love pattern any suggestions to keep them from slipping off of the back of your hill?
I just trim the Lil buttons and hot glue them back on.
wow ! thanks sooo-much much for sharing you are a good teacher what kinda glue are you using thanks again
I used Aleene's fabric glue or you can use an epoxy or high temp hot glue!
pantufdscocjrts
I have some old faux crocs I plan to cannibalise for these!
Really nice and well explained. I will try this.
I am making some and when I do the holes I do them differently as to where there will be no yarn on the bottom of the sole. I'm afraid I will get them caught on something and trip lol my dumb luck.

que bonitos slippers, gracias.
I have to try this.
Love these. I was wondering if you have a pattern on making them as just a slip in slippers- no back. I'm looking to do slippers like that with the flip flop sole but can't find a pattern/tutorial.
I do not...but you could always just start them at the side and work back and forth to make just the toe part!
I also want to know how to make slippers on slippers the ones like bathroom slippers which have a flat sole and just enough cover for the toes.
i work at walmart and picked up two pairs tonight to work on in the car ride tomorrow
Nicole Romich enjoy!!!
i think the hardest part is this first row of getting the yarn through the shoe.
Nicole Romich definitely
i think just gluing another flip flop on the bottom would work
very. interesting, have to try it. was surprised when the video ended while you were talking about sizes.
Laurie Martin yes I’m not sure why it did that when I uploaded it. I didn’t want to have to reshoot the ending, so I left it. I’m not a professional by no means lol just having fun with tutorials. ✌🏼
Thanks for the video.
Superb
Is there a written pattern? I love these btw!!!! Thanks for sharing!
No written pattern, sorry. There may be one on etsy.
I put hot glue on my bottom stitches to prevent the yarn from wearing out..
I love this video...Can you turn your volume up I have mine all the way up and I am having trouble hearing you....thank you
Barbara Burnett thank you. I’ll remember that next time!

Jennifer Barnea yes def
I can't wait to see that video I really want to make some boots ;)
EXCELLENT!
can we use a smaller hook then the H for a tighter look?
It is nice one stop I have a question stop can u give us some info where to buy materials for this project Tks
I got everything at Walmart. :)
Awesome 👏🏻
can u use a knitting needle to poke holes in them? and what size would u recommend the knitting needle should be?
ok thank you sooooooo much! love your tutorial
Very beautiful .
I am from India. loved your video. I want to know which size have you made these slippers. I want to make for my nephew whose size is 7 like my daughter.
PreetSeema Sachdeva I would use a size 6/7 shoe
I think it would add to the longevity of the shoe if you started your holes from the middle of the side of the sole at an angle up through the top of the sole. There will be no yarn on the bottom of the sole.
Cynthia Singh yes In my revised video, I go through the side :)
will the yarn give way on bottom of sole when you are outside showing your boots
Rosario Hinojosa read updated comments. I no longer go all the way through the sole, but out the side at a 45 degree angle
Would you want to put something on the underfoot stitches to keep them from wearing out easily?
2bless8 Arrh why not got to poundland and buy an inside sole (the ones you put in your shoes ) and do the crocheting around that the glue to flip flop like an inside sole and start from thier
You r so smart
I started making some for my mother in law and had her try it on but of course it's too big do you have any ideas to add something to make the back shrink without re- doing it?
how do these last? while walking. I'm thinking the yarn might tear the sole. or walking on yarn outside will wear out fast.
Hi. and thanks. I know the pattern or info has been changed for the placement of the hole to an angle on the side and top. my question is does it last longer? cause many have complained that it is easier to tear through the holes in the side. especially if it's the thinner flop flop
Yes they do! :) mine are a year old & mine are still going strong
Thank you and your video is great.
Here is what I am going to do....I am going to use two pair of flip flops. I'm going to put holes through one pair and make the slippers then I am going to glue the second pair to the bottom to cover the stitches. :)

AGAIN I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
The yarn does last longer....but I'm with you...IDK how much longer vs the other way. Ive made both, wearing both and both are still going strong!
hello. how are you. I want to know that row 8 and 9 are only single crochet under each stich before writing tie off or do we reduce stiches in row 9 asdonecincrow 5 and 7.
PreetSeema Sachdeva 8 & 9 are just single Crochet :)
