When it comes to sending ships to your fleet, as an OG console player, it ruled. It took a bit of time to get your fleet going, but man, once it was rolling, you DOMINATED the Atlantic. I usually am not one for managing passive things, but looking at the map made you FEEL the power and influence.
I really like the pirate/assassin story, and I'll try to defend it: Edward Kenway is the definition and pinnacle of free will. He does what he wants and is always fighting for more freedom (which is why he becomes a pirate in the first place). His whole personality is free will, which is why he often has to be held back by others. The pirate story develops around this very theme, where Edward joins the fight for Nassau to ensure freedom and the lack of order and control. Now, when he finds out at the beginning that there is a whole conflict going on that revolves around this very theme, he just can't ignore it. The assassins want free will, and the Templars want control. He recognizes this struggle from the struggle he is fighting inside himself. This is what makes the pirate/assassin story work. Think about how you just can't ignore a conflict when you wholeheartedly side and reason with it. You kind of think "I have to do something, I have to at least help a little", and then you just end up getting dragged further and further into the chaos... I'll leave it at that, that's why the assassin/pirate story works in my opinion.
This was always the fan favorite of the series and I agree entirely. Not only is being a pirate fun as hell but Edward is a really interesting protagonist who has a strong character arc.
I always loved the idea of the kenway fleet, I would like it so much if in the remake they expand on that. I remember there was a bug that made you able to get Bartholomew's man o war in the fleet.
I used to have this game and got bored after a while because at the time I struggled to understand it and what we were meant to do. I stopped caring about it to the point where I threw the game away. This video has brought a new light to it for me, and now I regret letting it go.
Honestly i really love the video essay style vidoes you make and simply wish you uploaded more often. if you ever see this hope it helps convince you to increase the frequency
Finished this game on Xbox 360, Xbox one, ps4 and series X. Have now picked it up on switch and even with the slight graphics downgrade it’s awesome to be back into it all over again!
Note on Kenway's fleet: Ubisoft created an app found in the App Store that you can manage the fleet and each ships missions. While at work or away from my PC, I could be making thousands of reales. Then once I was able to play, i could go back to the captains quarters and retrieve all the earned money. Here is the catch, if you loose a ship on a mission in the app, you loose it in the game. You will want to capture more ships then you need to repair others that come back from missions or replace the ships you lost. I love this feature that no one talks about.
After AC3(The death of Desmond & Lucy), I completely lost interest in the modern plot but the gameplay for black flag & Rogue is my favorite in the franchise. Mainly because of the ship combat & whale hunting. I am a big Herman Melville Moby Dick 🐳 📖 fan & being able to go whale hunting is a big plus for me. My jaw hit the floor when I saw the white whale in black flag. Lol 😂. Also some days, I would just play the game just to sail around the Caribbean. I never get tired of it. That being said, I wasn’t that crazy about the main story for Ed Kenway. In my opinion, it’s a bit mediocre.
What I really loved about the games story is that Edward is just out to get rich not caring who he steals from or what damage he does even going as far as to dismis the assassins creed and refuse to join but as the game goes on he realises the harm his actions really have caused and becomes a changed man such a cool way to build a great story
25:48 Ok now i want to play a Rockstar produced pirate game with the same quality of Red Dead Redemption 2 set during the golden age of piracy. Heck maybe that could be the premise of a RDR3, who says that it has to be sent during the wild west.
Black Flag feels just right. It’s not too complicated nor is it overly simplistic. It’s just a fantastic experience in every sense and I still love it to this day. I also really agree with you about the richness of the side characters. In addition to the ones you mentioned I thought Bonnet, Torres, Du Casse, and the Sage were all memorable. I think Torres was such an awesome villain. Even if they might not be “developed” they certainly feel like real people and you get them if that makes sense
I find the game pretty fun, but my dream pirate game is still a Rockstar Rdr2 style open world game with more realism gameplay, a ship that works as a home for you and your crew, the survival aspects like in Rdr2 with cooking and fishing and stuff. A large cast of interesting and morally grey characters. The thematic exploration of the whole pirate idea of freedom. Realistic ish sailing. I don't want traveling from place to place take days or weeks like in real life, but I don't want the sailing to be too fast either. Boarding mechanics with both naval and land combat. Being able to pillage and do pirate shit while free roaming.
I love the modern days but this one was so confusing they just put first person view in abstergo and sean and rebecca were just there i wanted an action packed show of how desomnd died hOw sean recovered etc more info on the higher ups in both society
Thank you. I was considering trying one of the old Assasin’s Creed chapters. By far, AC Odyssey was my only experience and favourite game from the franchise.
Great video, but in-animus story is only servicable? Hard to believe, with all due respect, I think it's much greater and in-depth, than even AC2 plot (there is more with bortherhood and revelations, but comparing 3 games against one isnt much fair) with both templars and assasins being more grey, than cartoonishingly good/evil, premice being not a worn-out "muh family" revenge plot, but something much relatable and unique to the series, Sage being a very interesting and charismatic force of nature, fleshed out both in character and the collectibles from "another era", Edward haing a well-meant goals even during his early pirating, wanting to give his wife everything she may have lost for deciding to live with him, every side character not overstaying their welcome and delivering a lot of memorable lines (both friends and enemies), speaking of dialogue, it is so colorful and fun to follow, that it makes some basic enemies have interesting character traits and tailing missions overall fun to revisit from time to time, I can go on and on about story intricancies, but the main point is: I dont think of Black Flag as just "the pirate game", I believe, that the Assassin vs Templar plot is integral to it and is fleshed out as great as it was in AC1, now there is just more personal stuff added (On the side note, holy yapfest... hope this rant looked more like a shared opinion, than a pressing issue or dissing of any kind, very good video)
If only the supposed remastered ac4 has an online where it’s similar to gta online, upgrade your ship, engage in pvp, and hopefully make it into a better rdr2 online, but tbf Ubisoft isn’t going to do that
Ubisoft have made a lot of good games but they fail to take the potential of their ideas and give them the time and energy to make them into masterpieces
I was in college in 2013 and yes this game was one of my loves. Assassin's Creed 2 actually got me through history class. I never even paid for the history book 😂 we were studying Italy in the 1600's so I locked in.
I bought this game back last year. It was definitely one of my favorites and if it comes back I hope it isn't a remake. I hope they continue his story in some different ways. Especially before his son was born. If you know you know.
You do understand that the whole reason to go and relive the past, which has already happened, is the events that are taking place in the current time frame. Otherwise, why bother? Oh, look, we get to relive an adventure that already happened... and make 0 impact because it already happened. The future timeline needs to be engaging, it needs to be there, like it was with Desmond. Assassin's creed iii had amazing modern day missions. If they just built on that, they'd have something special, an actual reason to go in the animus, versus just reliving the past. I for one, couldn't give 2 s**** about reliving the past, because it's already happened. What am I doing to help people in the future? That's what matters.
19:19, big miss on this, shadows has zero parkour skill or expression. Black flag has jank but it’s usually because the player doesn’t know how to use the system correctly. Just watch some advanced parkour players.
@gamecazm4025and I do agree with you, there’s definitely jank in there but shadows isn’t a good standard to compare it to. Especially, when shadows has jank and is needing so many parkour updates to get into a good spot. Like ffs the game kicks you out of sprint every other action you do.
I absolutely love Black Flag, the vibes were just immaculate. I think that a massive part of that is the Jackdaw. The mission when you escape imprisonment, free other prisoners and capture the leading Brig of a fleet just makes it such a cool and meaningful part of the story. Comparing that to Rogue which while being a good game if you are looking for more of Black Flag gameplay feels kinda random. You get Morrigan pretty randomly and it just kinda decreases the bond you have with it. Rogue had a good amount of QoL changes but sadly the characters and story was just better in Black Flag.
why would you need to or want to crouch when moving from one hiding spot to another? the whole point is to move faster between the spots so you're not seen. if you're crouched you move slower. and regardless if you walked, ran or crouched if the option was there, enemies would still see you if you weren't playing carefully enough. like you said, it's an older game so why fault it for something over 12 years old? AC Shadows is the most recent game and only now implemented going prone. why not critique Black Flag for not having an option to go prawn over 12 years ago? don't nitpick for the sake of nitpicking. and you're completely wrong about the modern day and AC parts because you wouldn't like the game nearly as much if it wasn't an Assassin's Creed game because those parts are what makes AC games so memorable, different and unique because of how important they are for and intertwined with the historical parts, not the other way around, as much as you wanna believe that. literally in the first scene you meet an Assassin who's responsible for Edward ending up shipwrecked. it's not something injected later for convenience. none of it would work if the AC lore wasn't in there. if would be a different franchise and games would feel, look and sound different. i mean just look at Skull and Bones or Sea of Thieves. not the same thing. it's like saying you like Fallout but don't like the lore of it, that you just wanna play a game post third world war. not. the. same. thing.

I recently revisited this game because I sunk a TON of time into it when I was a teenager and I found that the melee combat just didn’t hold up anymore. The naval combat is still very fun, but after 12 years of playing other games like Final Fantasy 16, Shadow of War, or even Elden Ring, I found this one really tough to come back to.
I watched a playthrough of a game when it released, and only was now able to play it this year as well. It's way more enjoyable from what I remembered then.
Ubisoft has its difficulties with finding their identity people would love a second assassins creed unity gave some of that but it lost most of its key stuff with massive freedom they started over complicating things like modern companies on the gaming industry are doing I just hope now that they are giving themselves 2-3 years of time will add more aspect to their games and focus on side stuff more like npc’s, just keep the map medium.
Still too much nonsensical collectibles, as some one who likes to collect everything in a game, that mundane amount of crap in this and all future games just fucking annoyed me.

This guy uploads every once in a blue moon, but every time it’s a banger…
Many moons ago
This game is definitely one of the best games ever made
1:50 Me when I was lying
When it comes to sending ships to your fleet, as an OG console player, it ruled. It took a bit of time to get your fleet going, but man, once it was rolling, you DOMINATED the Atlantic. I usually am not one for managing passive things, but looking at the map made you FEEL the power and influence.
The uniqueness in this game is amazing
There is a mod to skip all Absergo missions and just play throughout the game without leaving the Animus.
black flag is my favorite creed game
Bro remembered his password
Literally yesterday I was on your page wondering if you would upload again😮
I was thinking about getting this game but i might wait for a remaster. also LOVE your videos man can't wait for you to blow up.
I really like the pirate/assassin story, and I'll try to defend it:
Edward Kenway is the definition and pinnacle of free will.
Ngl I didn't read your comment. But why tf do you look like a young August The Duck
This was always the fan favorite of the series and I agree entirely. Not only is being a pirate fun as hell but Edward is a really interesting protagonist who has a strong character arc.
The guy needs a trilogy despite how his story ends that gave Haytham and Connor much more build ...AC3 remake I hope after black flag.
Always love this game since my childhood perfect just perfect and Game Overload analysis and storytelling is also perfect
The multiplayer mode in this game was so unbelievably underrated it was so good
Yo ho a pirates game for me
yoo i been following you for a minute now. can you make a ghost of tsushima vid in the future?
Please make more AC videos! Ranking videos?
brother can u do ghost of tsushima
the modern day was good when you played as desmod but after that it gets pretty bad i have no idea why they decided to get rid of him
Please do a video on the horizon games
I always loved the idea of the kenway fleet, I would like it so much if in the remake they expand on that. I remember there was a bug that made you able to get Bartholomew's man o war in the fleet.
Great vid
I used to have this game and got bored after a while because at the time I struggled to understand it and what we were meant to do. I stopped caring about it to the point where I threw the game away. This video has brought a new light to it for me, and now I regret letting it go.
Hands down still my favourite AC of all time
Man hearing that title theme just stirs a murderous theiving itch in me 😂
Great and funny vid.
I still listen to the sea shanties from this game anytime I'm travelling.
Honestly i really love the video essay style vidoes you make and simply wish you uploaded more often. if you ever see this hope it helps convince you to increase the frequency
I'm personally looking forward to revisiting AC3.
Do the batman arkham games next!
Finished this game on Xbox 360, Xbox one, ps4 and series X. Have now picked it up on switch and even with the slight graphics downgrade it’s awesome to be back into it all over again!
How did Ubisoft drop the ball so badly with skull and bones, when they had this to go off
Edward Kenway Forever.
Note on Kenway's fleet: Ubisoft created an app found in the App Store that you can manage the fleet and each ships missions. While at work or away from my PC, I could be making thousands of reales. Black Flag was my first Assassins Creed game and it is the only game I’ve 100%ed multiple times.
Same

it introduced open world pirating along with good character developments. yeah. it was a really good game
Why are all your takes so good and yet you have fewer than a million subs
Maybe do expedition 33 after goty
HOLYYY THEY JUST CONFIRMED THE REMAKEEE
25:48 Ok now i want to play a Rockstar produced pirate game with the same quality of Red Dead Redemption 2 set during the golden age of piracy. Heck maybe that could be the premise of a RDR3, who says that it has to be sent during the wild west.

Hey man I'd love it if you maybe made a game on Ghost of Tsushima. My favorite more recent/pandemic era game and revenge story done right imo
@everyone why aren't y'all subscribed yet? (This dudes content is amazing)
I find the game pretty fun, but my dream pirate game is still a Rockstar Rdr2 style open world game with more realism gameplay, a ship that works as a home for you and your crew, the survival aspects like in Rdr2 with cooking and fishing and stuff. i didnt need to mod the game to use kenways fleet
Black flag and odyssey are my favor
What AC games are outstanding pillars of stealth?
I love the modern days but this one was so confusing they just put first person view in abstergo and sean and rebecca were just there i wanted an action packed show of how desomnd died hOw sean recovered etc more info on the higher ups in both society
Just wrapped up black flag and I’m glad I’m not the only one who experienced every bit of jank and repetitive boarding of ships in the gameplay lol
Thank you. I was considering trying one of the old Assasin’s Creed chapters. By far, AC Odyssey was my only experience and favourite game from the franchise.

(On the side note, holy yapfest... hope this rant looked more like a shared opinion, than a pressing issue or dissing of any kind, very good video)
Try the metro series (metro 2033,metro Last light, metro exodus) one of best post apocalyptic game , great story , too much lore
next video : Dishonored
Thoughts on far cry 3?
It’s one of my favourite games ever. I have a video planned for it in the new year!
Can’t wait to hear what you think about Vaas being replaced by yapping globalization dude

I look at the cutscene quality in these older games and say to myself oh my goodness, what the HELL happened to this company?…
Black Flag is Goated
Best AC game and my favorite but the word "PERFECTION" is not true, it has its ups and downs.
Favorite AC game and proud to have Platinum it

Have a nice day all!

Crazy to believe after all these years that AC4 was a game made by Ubisoft.
Great game
Ubisoft has its difficulties with finding their identity people would love a second assassins creed unity gave some of that but it lost most of its key stuff with massive freedom they started over complicating things like modern companies on the gaming industry are doing I just hope now that they are giving themselves 2-3 years of time will add more aspect to their games and focus on side stuff more like npc’s, just keep the map medium.
Still too much nonsensical collectibles, as some one who likes to collect everything in a game, that mundane amount of crap in this and all future games just fucking annoyed me.
so you only need 30k to get paid by raid? not bad. terrible ad though.
I fucking hate this game
