  • Clemson guard Shelton Mitchell suffered a scary looking head injury Wednesday night against Florida State. Driving for a late bucket in overtime, Mitchell got his shot blocked then took an inadvertent elbow to the head from FSU's Trent Forrest. Mitchell stayed on the ground for several minutes, before being carried off the court. Head coach Brad Brownell told reporters that Mitchell would have to go to the hospital to receive a CT scan.

I hope this young man is okay. You never want to see anyone get hurt. What great sportsmanship by those 2 FSU players.

Shelton Mitchell please take care of yourself. I had a head injury at 16 and now I'm epileptic. People think head injuries aren't serious. But they are.

Blossom Utonium it doesn’t matter if it was an accident, if you make contact with a person unintentionally or with intention it’s still a foul

Kellar Foster when he was about to fall into the cheerleaders, the cheerleaders were literally putting their arms out to catch him

@@StudVA The ball was out of bounds first, and unintentional contact occurring after the play is only called when malice is present (usually a technical foul in that case).
Physical play must be encouraged and that will always come with a form of collateral. Some players lacking toughness or having bad luck shouldn't result in the erosion of basketball as a contact sport.
