In the 70s Celle was booming, but due to all the traffic restrictions and out of town shopping They managed to kill the goose that laid the Golden egg.In fact I would go as far to say it has been ruined, by over painting ( atrocious colours) including the Schloss and Rathaus. I lived there for over 10 years , the natural Colours gave the town a charm that without a doubt has been lost to a fairground Disneyland Ambiance. Gone are the days of exciting shops and the crowds in Karstadt on a Saturday .( We always found somewhere to park.) You can't imagine the shock I got when recently visiting Celle. It's become probably the most boring town in Germany. RIP Celle 😭
