We talked about it in the episode, but we realized that my gift Pokemon were not randomized. Neither of us were in charge of randomizing these files so it has turned out to be a weird unexpected oversight, but at this point we've just decided I will forfeit all future gift Pokemon to make up for this!
Are there even any still coming up? That arent out of the way like the Pikachu
Well hey, it meant you got a guaranteed mega legendary, but also a castform, so even stevens!
Edit: I had not finished this episode. When Mikey finds a castform at 45:35, John literally says "Even Steven!"
It’s not like it’s that big of a deal. The series is mostly just for fun anyway. Plus It was pretty funny realizing it.
Hey John I think you might've missed a death when you were battling in the weather institute.
That's alright, the series is still fun and you got a mega latias but then a castform so it levels out
With this episode included Jim has died a total of 12 times. However Lugia has died a total of 10 times. Will Lugia overtake Jim next episode for the title of the Pokemon with the most deaths?
Jim has been around since the start, while Lugia was not. In addittion, Jim's deaths tend to be not entirely Jim's fault [like getting Dynamicpunched in the face by a Mega charizard...] meanwhile the overwhelming majority of Lugia's deaths are suicides.
Jim wants to live, but cannot. Lugia wants to die.
@@raikaria3090 no, most of Jim’s deaths were mementos, explosions and some actual deaths
@@FNAF-RNG-Tycoon Most of the early ones yes.
Most of the recent ones are things like getting Dynamicpunched in the face. He didn't kill himself once today!
Ok I no longer care about the death points between Mike and John. By the end of this series I need to know what Pokémon died the most. How many times Jim died and Lugia died. That is how we decide who the true winner is.
Yeah poor jim is getting memed around while lugia has almost the same death count in less episodes
So John's Latias and Castform didn't change because someone forgot to randomize the gift pokemon 🤣 This could only have happened to John! 🤣🤣
At least he got a mega latias at the price of getting a castform which wasn't even guaranteed to randomize into something worthy of replacing one of his 6 pokemon
The Egg in the envelope was a great idea to foreshadow the change made. It was also "Lucky" that the egg had not broken before arriving to Mikey.
Expecially since it wasn't wrapped in anything that will protect it. Hehe
BREAKING NEWS: jim has been found dead in hoenn
Aw, man, that's like the fifteenth time!
I thought it was the sixteenth time guess I was wrong
So? Fork found in kitchen
you guys were talking about joke candy... A JIM BURGER JOINT WOULD BE BETTER!!! 😂
Poor Jim he deserved better then getting hit by a boosted dynamic punch by a mega charizard x
@@Darkwarp1994 he was so proud of Jim.. and immediately lost it 😂
@@CharCharYT24 agreed me and my buddy who I been watching these with were laughing our ass's off yet feeling bad at the same time 😂
@@Darkwarp1994 they're absolutely hilarious 🤣
7:43 there was a sprinter at the olympics who was refused entry into the stadium because she didn’t have her pass. She was one of the favourites for Gold in the 100m. It happens.
John forgot to turn on randomized gift pokemon XD
But an idea, for the gift pokemon that didn't randomize, he could get an egg that's randomized?
Game Master gives John an egg. One that can mega evolve, and one completely random. He can no longer use the latias, though. However, he is given rare candies for said randomized pokemon to be on the level they would be when he gets them
Actually Mikey and John has said a couple of times that they didn't randomize their games. Someone else did it. Who? Idk, but whoever forgot gift pokemon
50:50
Speaking of Pokemon Snap! I have an idea for a team sky ADVENTURE!
What if instead of spreading love of the sky through battles, what if Mikey shared the love of the sky through pictures in the game! This will either go very well with tons of pictures of birds, or just pictures of the sky! But I still think it would be fun!
i don't know how that'll work. Since you NEED to take pictures of the phenomenon pokemon to beat the game.
@@TheShiningEnergy I feel like he would do it RELUCTANTLY but still mainly take pictures of sky creatures. Again it’s just an idea!
@@taitorunashi9028 true. true. he would reluctantly do it. also, it's still a good idea.
@@TheShiningEnergythe phenomenon pokemon will end up becoming honorary members of team sky. Like houndoom... i think it was houndoom that became an honorary member, wasnt it? It was some doglike pokemon
@@hanakoisbestgirl4752it’s Mightyena that is the honorary dog lol
at this point, i'm curious if John's “gift” pokemon are actually randomized. First latias, now castform… EDIT: Yup, it was mentioned in the video. I commented as I was watching. I didn’t mean to be suspicious of the production but just finding it hilarious if the randomizations were exactly the same pokemon :9
If they used the program i've previously used, the Gift Pokemon Randomizer is a different Button than Wild Pokemon or Trainer Pokemon
He probably forgot to Randomize the Gifts.
That or he really just has insane luck for those to be Ranomized to be Vanilla
Hmm how meny other gift pokemon are left in the game to test the theory ?
None. They address it in the video.
@@Darkwarp1994 There is the Cosplay Pikachu thats available
@@yaboipktendongl I had almost forgot that pikachu
Ditto got two items and Imposter and Smeargle gets buffed every time a good move comes out and got a Mythical nerfed.
and actually the wynaut got encore, making wobbuffet even more annoying
Wondering if iron bundle counts - I definitely count delibird as a gimmick min thanks to how ridiculous present is as a move
Hisuan zoroark is a form😊
By giving Ditto the ability to transform on switch in, they made Ditto competitively viable. Smeargle is still a potential menace. I feel like castform has just been given nothing.
Honestly using ditto for micheal example is like a yes but also a no cause of zorua zoroark and maybe mew.
the reason for the the first two is because of their ability sure they go back to normal after getting hit but they still transform into a pokemon
The only reason I say maybe mew is cause I think I learned transform but I myself rarely use mew as it's not one my more favorite pokemon so I'm not 100% sure on that
Calling Mew a gimmick mon because of Transform is silly. Mew doesn't use Transform in actually serious sets, ever. Ditto and the Illusion guys actually lean on these transformations, Mew is just the thing that learns every TM and tutor move while also coincidentally having Transform.
@@Darkwarp1994 Illusion does not change anything about zoroark other than its appearance to others. Transform changes everything about ditto.
Mikey, pull off a Google images page of Sandygast so he gets confused
21:40 Gimmick Pokémon: I would classify Rotom as a gimmick Pokémon, as it can change into appliances in its generation before adding the Rotom Phone, Drones, etc. in later generations. Though you are not able to use them in battle x'D
I myself am not Sure, but isnt Delibird kinda a gimmick pokemon? If so, than it is maybe the first and only gimmick pokemon to receive something, even if its not directly to delibird itself (if ypu ignore that wobbuffet got wynaut in gen 3, which is obviously not an upgrade)
Chatot got something. It got its gimmick removed
Lmfao
22:37 the Darmamitan line got regional forms
if zorua/zoroark count as gimmick mons they did too!
@@wowjennawow yeah, but they acknowledge them later
Even though it's not the same mon i feel like iron bundle should count
Zen Mode is the gimmick, not Darmanitan itself. Darmanitan isn't married to Zen Mode like Zorua/Zoroark to Illusion.
@@gengarzilla1685 plus if you think about it ditto being unique in transformation is kinda yes and no because of zorua and zoroark illusion only difference between the two is ones permanent till its ko or swapped out I think and the other fades way after 1 hit
Most logical buff to Castform would be weather stones held item immediately trigger that weather so Castform doesnt have to waste a turn activating weather, or waste slots on multiple weathers.
Or a paradox Form or something like that maybe
Thats what they did in Radical Red irc. But they also buffed its stats to 80 or 85 across the board
what about a new ability, Permanent Forecast, he still changes form, but any weather setup is permanent like in the old days
John has Jim
Mikey has Cryptic
Beaver nuggets are puffed corn covered in a brown sugar glaze.
22:16 I actually had a really cool idea for a way to make Color Change better. All they need to do is make Keckleon's type change before the move hits, not after. Protean already works this way, so why not Color Change? This would actually be a really good defensive ability, as 9 types resist themselves. Keckleon with this ability would have the same number of weaknesses and resistances as a Steel/Fairy mon, but instead of having two immunities, Keck would be immune to certain moves like Thunder Wave, Toxic, Will-o-Wisp and Leech Seed. And it would be overpowered in the slightest because gen 9 power creep is just insane like that. Oh, what could have been...
11:30 I'm studying to be an accountant right now in college and even I don't think an event like that would be fun. Perhaps informative, but fun? Nah.
Next time on “JIM!”…
Everybody gangsta until they get Marowacked with a bonerang
Castform looks like a little ghosty boy with fists ready to start throwing punches
The deoxys cosmic power and belly drum was vile
Forecast should just give it increased stats. The problem with castform is that its 70s across the board so giving it a speed + special attack boost when transformed would solve a lot (Like Flower Gift but actually usable)
Also they gave Ditto Imposter which is HUGE for it.
How about we do every episode, new lead pokemon. The replacement can be leveled up to the previous lead lvl which can be chosen from l the 6 in the party.
So every pokemon can level up,and it wouldnt be the same lead everytime
I was honestly expecting them to take the rare candy pill. I mean don’t get me wrong the lucky egg will help, but the rare candy pill just makes things a lot easier
It disincentivies battling trainers. So this would only be boss fights and other mandatory fights. They still want the resource tradeoff of EXP from the battles.
Your suggestion of rare candy pill makes it _too_ easy. That's blatant overcorrection there.
I’m calling it fifteen minutes in the video: John’s game isn’t randomizing gifts while Mikey’s is.
Thoughts on the Castform thing:
Protean but with the weather.
Let me elaborate further:
If it uses a move whose type is associated with one of the weather, the weather changes to the one associated with the type, staying somewhat in line with John's idea while still having control over the weather instead of it being random, while keeping the form change thing.
how would that work with Weather Ball?
Weather Ball changes its type according to the weather that is up, so the weather would just stay the same.
what about a new ability 'permanent forecast' he still changes form, but any weather setup by castform last forever (like before)
OMG a new Metronome nuzlocke video ON MY 21ST BIRTHDAY (I love it already)🎉🎉🎉
Happy birthday 🎉 wish you a good year
I've heard Buc-ees be described as "The Citadel of Capitalism!" That is the best and most accurate description.
Hope the game-master swaps out Volkan-Kai for a Mega Latios!
I was today years old when I found out that I live in the same state as pm7
octobers pokemon meme review will have a jim the tauros theme song
I don't know if I'm going insane but the duplicate moves on Mikey's side blew me away. He mentioned Glaciate 4 times, but I saw Shadow Force twice (both from Volkan-Kai in the final 20 minutes), the back to back Sleep Powders, the multiple Cotton Guards, Sheer Cold back to back + earlier in the episode when Mikey hit it, double Lunar Dance etc. I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting. Is Mikey's game bugged or something? I could usually only catch one or two similar/same moves per episode (Kabuto most famously and then maybe a later fight where Mikey's whole team wiped had a couple of the same moves back to back).
ETA: In the final fight Manaphy gets Power Trick which Lugia used earlier in the episode. This is a concerning amount of coincidences.
Jim bi?
(Trying to attract a male Mega Charizard X)

19:27 it would be more useful if there is a solar beam like attack for every weather especially in Double battles. And if the weather is choosed randomly everytime its coming into an battle not every turn
I agree with Mikey, as a Texas native, Torchy's queso goes so insanely hard and it's not even close
Hey, at least Gyarados can still learn Hurricane. That's something, right?
delibird, a gimmick pokemon, becomes the best gen 9 water type as iron bundle

Just southeast of Tampa.
Stay safe my friend.
Georgia here, this is going to be rough

I'm in Alabama, I'm not sure if where I am will get hit, but if it does it won't be as strong, I believe. I'm from the north and am down south for college so I'm not used to hurricanes.
'Bout'a be Saturday.
I'm safe, but schools out😅
Unown got 2 new forms! ! and ?
You forgot pikachu encounter you get in contest hall
they mentioned not wanting to do it because John's gift Pokemon aren't randomized
I loved the drowse bit, truly iconic
Does rotom count as a "gimmick" pokemon because of all the typing he can change into or honestly wat about gimmighoul and goldengo gimmighoul does nothing needs 999 coins then turns into surfboarding macaroni 😅
I think a way to tie together both Mikey and John's ideas for Castform is the weather rock they hold lets you choose the weather it summons and its form.
Even if you dont give it an evolution, making the weather forms have better stats would be enough for it to be a cool gimmick!
Wowzahs I'm first, this is meaningless
It means something to this blue shell
@@gingerkays7362 OH C-

Guys something tells me the "Game master" and MandJTV might be related...
Game master is Tyler tho, something said in at least 2 previous episodes
Is Unown not considered a gimmick Pokemon? It got 2 new forms in Gen III in ! and ?
Also Gyarados learns Hurricane by level up in Gen 9, so it still has flying moves.
The beard is coming in nicely John! Soon you shall be the Bearded Bunny Bros! You shall reach your true potential through the power of complete alliteration!
I think a nice thing for Castform's potential evolution would be to give it an ability that changes its typing dependant on both weather AND Terrain effects
and you could have it's ability also set up a random weather effect and terrain which wasn't active when it was sent in, so it's not random every turn, but there's still that element of gimmicky unpredictable fun in the gameplay
For instance, you send it in on someone who has Drought set up, and suddenly the Castform sets up rain and psychic terrain, making it Water/Electric and letting it play off the new weather and terrain with Weather Ball and Terrain Pulse
Personally I count Eevee as a gimick pokemon. It essentially shows off a new mechanic in the games where it gets an evolution, Gen 1 you have the standard stone evolution, gen 2 you have day night cycle and friendship, gen 4 you have area based evolution, and gen 6 has the love mechanic which you can raise on the then introduced pokemon Amie.
i looked it up there are 7 Gimmick Pokemon Castform, Kecleon, Zoroark, Smeargle, Ditto, Shedinja and Unown
I, too, John am very Thank You! I love the vids ❤ Thank you guys for doing these and staying authentic.
As someone who lived in Arizona (with a ton of sky) and now lives in Maine (with a ton of trees), I totally get Mikey and John’s different ideas about where they live. Being able to see a huge open sky, horizon to horizon, is magical. On the other hand, there’s something comforting about being nestled amongst towering trees, like a blanket earth made for you.
Both also have their “I don’t like this” factor imo. The huge open skies came with blistering heat that literally gave me cabin fever. And taking my dog out at night in Maine can be terrifying… there are always sounds in those dark woods.
If gimmick Pokémon are defined by new additions to the generation then ogrepon and terapagos would be gimmick pokemon
21:29 False ditto received imposter and became the most useful competitive Pokémon it’s called breeding
Don't WORRY Mikey us subscribers of you love castform HAIL YEAH
1:04:39 I think you need to retire Volkan-Kai. You need bulky mons rather than speedy hard hitters.
49:12 I think it was Jrose11! It was his very first RBY solo run and it softlocked in Pokemon tower
9:07 the hell is mikey reading? I can't see.
The sacred texts aka a strategy guide for Pokémon Sword and Shield
I believe in you, Mikey! You can beat John!
I don't know how good of an ability this would be, but I had the Idea for a Castform evolution with an ability that changes the weather - and it's form - to one that helps the move it's about to use.
for example, if it uses a fire type move, or something like Solar Beam, it sets sunlight and changes to a sunny form first. a water move or Thunder makes rain, and so on.
basically Protean for weather. I know that's probably not something super powerful, but I think that it would at least be fun to use, and that's all I'm going for.
I find it hilarious that I had the same idea, wrote it as a comment, look at the comment section and then see your comment.
Even the "protean but with weather" part is the same.
@@volcarona8401 I always wonder if other people ever have the same Ideas that I do. I'm glad to finally have an example.
it's also nice to see a fellow Volcarona fan.
A team sky video where Mikey is on a photography class/ vacation (Pokemon snap) would be sweet and funny.
you say Wynaut didn't help Wobbuffet, but you are wrong, Wynaut comes knowing Encore which is a BRUTAL move for Wobbuffet, if you can lock your opponent into a physical or special move, and you have counter or Mirror Coat, you're good. I always skip learning Safeguard and keep the other 3 and keep Encore. Wobbuffet went from OP to BANNED!
Where is the 100k mario party.....
You know I just realized if ether of those two got rayquaza for their mega last video how would that exactly work for this challenge given rayquaza mega is tied to his dragon ascent attack
I somehow doubt they would complain too much having to use a Rayquaza
@@lthecatt9667 I'm not saying that I mean if they wanted to mega evolve it rayquaza only needs the attack cause in a crazy way that's its megastone all because it gain the attack from eating a meteorite
Oh no, now I want to see fanart of Jim the Tauros finding love. Maybe with a different Charizard form, since goodness there's a couple of those and getting more is never off the table... But yup I am invested in this now, for better or worse.
To John and Mikey: I beat the elite four and steven with a castform (named Weathershift) in alpha sapphire with 2 normal types, latias with no STAB moves, and no knowledge of immunities, base stats, super effective moves (besides the basics). When I was a kid
So I don’t think castform is stinky
Has there ever been a Garchomp in one of Mikey's Team Sky teams? Because you can spot that dude flying as well, both in the anime and Scarlet&Violet
Hello, my name is JohnGuy. This is my Nuzlocke. Enter, please!
This is my neighbor, Mikey. He is pain my a**holes.
I get a Manaphy, he must get a Manaphy.
I get a Castform, HE must get a Castform.
I get a Mega Latias... he cannot afford.
Great success ;)
Gotta say, that 3D Castform is actually pretty cute. If you don't have the sus pre-misconception or joke about it, then it looks fine to me
I don’t entirely agree that ZA news would’ve been at worlds. They don’t usually reveal new games at worlds. The new reveals are usually also competitive related in some way (ie Cyclizar and it’s Shed Tail move and the plethora of new items for SV). Since ZA won’t be the next game for competitions I doubt they’d reveal it there. Not saying you’re wrong to keep hopes low though. I’m with you. I’m not gonna expect anything until we get confirmation.
To make Castform a bit more "viable" he should evolve, so his stats get better (520 BST maybe), not great but decent enough (don't play competitive so it's just a theory); with this evolution he should get a new ability called "Armageddon" setting a new type of weather (Hail, sandstorm, rain and sun "simultaneously") granting the same effects as this weather plus a small buff to its "new form". Weather damage does increase damage by a small amount, as there are multiple at the same type.
I'm sure it's been commented in the 400+ comments, but...
Gyarados now learns Hurricane. So they took away its only flying-type to give it a flying special attack instead.
Also, in the original Red/Blue/Yellow, struggle can hit ghost types, I believe.
Pokemon Rejuvenation had one of the better ideas to help Castform and other overshadowed pokemon: exclusive items, called Crests, with powerful effects and that when held by the pokemon they're made for can't be removed, like a mega stone or Z-crystal.
The Castform Crest immediately uses the first weather move in the holder's moveset, based on move order, when the pokemon is sent out; it also changes its base stats and ability depending on the form assumed.
Rainy Form: 100 HP, 80 Defense and Special Defense, Rain Dish.
Sunny Form: 90 Special Attack, 100 Speed, Solar Power.
Snowy Form: 100 Special Attack, 90 Speed, Slush Rush.
The "co" in John Michael and Co actually just refers to Jim. And haven't we all been brutally turned down by a metaphorical mega Charizard in our lives?
11:43 conference's are funny because every field has them but not all of them can be fun. I'll get emails for things like "RISKCON" (risk adjustment for hospitals) and like. Look. I dont want to go to a thing called Riskcon. You can't make that fun.
32:02 as someone who actually lives in the woods, I've BIG disliked my trips to Texas and like, some of the flatter places in the Midwest. Feels like the backrooms of America or something. Give me some privacy 😭
Mikey, you have to take John to the Velvet Taco! I have friends in Austin, and I always make sure we go there every time I visit. So good 😍
Best thing to do for Castform is in two steps:
First, improve it's Ability so that it sets up weather based on the type of the Attack in the first Attack slot, a Fire attack (or Solar Beam) would set up Sunny Day, a Water attack (or Thunder/Hurricane) would set up Rain Dance, an Ice attack would set up Snow), a Rock/Ground/Steel attack would set up Sandstorm. If it is Weatherball in the first slot, the weather is set up random. And after it sets-up the weather, it than transforms.
Second, increase it's base stats to be either 90 all around...except for HP, which should be increased to a base of 100.
Those two changes would make Castform a great Pokemon without over complicating things.
But, while I do see the chance of them changing it's ability to be like the above...at most, I'd see them only increasing the base stats to 80...and even than, it would only be Attack, Special Attack, and Speed to be increased.
But, I do wish that some of these Gimmick Pokemon were buffed...and/or appeared often.
I'd class eevee as a gimmick purely due to their numerous evolutions.
Wrong but okay
@TheGodIvy Glaceon and Leafeon in gen 4 was a pure gimmick. A special rock in a random route you had to be around to evolve. Sylveon in gen 6. Two affection hearts with a fairy move. That's kind of a gimmick of the eevee line. Weird evolution methods.
"Pokemon Metronome Randomizer Nuzlocke. Every Pokemon in the Game Only Knows Metronome. Every Time One of Your Pokemon Faints, You Get a Death Point. Person Who Finishes the Game with Fewer Death Points, Wins" is a really long title. You guys should try coming up with an easier, shorter title for this. Something catchy.
How about for Castform’s ability that if Castform is holding on to one of the weather rocks then it summons that weather. And as a nod to it og gen, and to help in doubles, the weather last through the battle and as long as castform is on the field the weather can’t be changed.
Ideally I would love to see Castform evolve and get more weather forms. Maybe do that thing with the eeveeloutions. Have the same base stats but redistribution between each weather.
Beside what I consider the first gimmick Pokémon was polygon. In was created just so the Pokémon anime could go into a computer right? In the banned episode. But it got two more evolutions. Not to mention Castform is the only confirmed, sorry ditto, man made Pokémon to NOT get any more to it. Polygon, mew two, type null, etc. So why NOT poor Castform!
Oh do you think it ability should let it change with terrain as well?
The taco talk made me want to reply. I love Torchy’s…especially their queso, like Mikey…
I never think about going to Torchys when I want tacos. There are so many other great taco places in every Texas city/town
I do get tacos whenever I decide to go to Torchy’s for queso, though
also would Spinda count as a Gimmick pokemon?
(I still think they should have given Cryoganal a spinda treatment)
Started watching this morning when it dropped. Resumed watching after a big bowl of broccoli and several hours later @17:28 and I quote "stinky butt cheeks, but it is stinky butt cheeks, and it should feel bad about itself"
22:37
I doubt that Iron Bundle counts as another form for Delibird since they are straight up two different Pokemon, but that could maybe count.
I'm also not sure if Chansey counts (the gimmick being it's abysmal attack stats and insane HP), but if so, Blissey is an upgrade
Saying on gimmick Pokémon, does Eevee not technically count as a gimmick Pokémon? It's unstable DNA allows it to have an unknown amount of evolutions (all with the same second half of a name I might add) for each type, there very well maybe more type eeveelutions and we just haven't figured out how to trigger them yet, but it has 8 options as of now, no other Pokémon has this 🤷
Funny that you were talking about how Castform could get a buff; I just watched a video from SmithPlaysPokemon, who is working on a new, better version of Emerald. And in it, he gave Castform extra points in its stats to make it a bit more useable.
He also gave some buffs to Treecko and its evolutions.
If this video gets 10,000 likes John Michael #1 should print that Castform 3D model.
Ditto got imposter, which just enhanced its gimik. Smeargle is strong bc of its gimik and ability. Chatot got screwed by people saying bad things in online matches. Zorua got a hisuian form, and from gen6 on each region got its own regonal gimik. Castform is a huge standout when it comes to gimik mons that dont have any benifits over other mons. There is no excuse as to why Castform shouldnt get any love besides the fact that no one cares about it, or remembers it exists.
Maybe tangential to gimmick Pokemon as opposed to being one itself, but I suggest Porygon due to its Conversion and Conversion2 moves. Got two evolutions.
Didn't they say release for ZA was early 2025? Hiw could that be november?
I think every gimmick pokemon should get something to make it viable. Maybe Ditto CAN'T, but it can breed with basically anything, which makes it uniquely viable in its own sense.
Smeagle has been used in competitive before with at least some success, but it's stats are so low i think the ONLY option is to evolve it. I think sketch should remain it's only move, but now it's at least twice as strong and can actually be good
I think Castform should evolve (i think i actually have a fakemon evolution for Castform, that has a different permanent type and stats depending on the weather when it evolved. It also gets a sandstorm form, even though castform doesn't)
Feel free to make suggestions for other gimmick pokemon stuff.
