back in the early '60s, when my husband was just out of the navy, having trouble finding work, he went to Goodwill and because of his background of electrical from the service, was hired. he repaird TVs, radios, record player and such. but he was also trained in cabinetry and did a lot of furniture repairs.
I'm sending the highest compliments to the Goodwill staff. The store looks beautiful! I used to do that work. The store looks so colorful, clean and welcoming.
The selections in your Goodwill stores are wonderful. Our Goodwill merchandise looks like what was leftover from the bins. I use to go a couple times a week before Covid but now maybe once a month.
that's the same problem here. very little hard goods, no jewelry, and a lot of new goods as if purchased lots from other stores. always believed in their mission. envious of the Nevada stores.
Same where I live. Nothing really good to pick from and over priced.
We don’t even get to have jewelry in the stores in Phoenix. It is only online and is way overpriced. 😢
I'm sorry to hear that!
Same by me. I m in a college / farm town 😊
This region is the exception and exceptional. Those bad remarks have to do with poorly run Goodwills elsewhere and there are some really awful stores in places. If there is this much being baled in LV they should be spreading the load out to other regions better. Retirement areas are receiving the accumulations of a lifetime elsewhere...some of that would be beneficial in another area. While resellers may make a living out of reselling, a lot of people only afford shopping for personal use at resale shops.
They might as well cal themselves a retail store now with the prices. It’s unreasonable here in WA state. 20$ for a donated sweatshirt 13$ for a tshirt, it’s ridiculous. This place is about greed period, there’s no way you slice it that makes my soul feel better about it no many how many times you say community. Community helps each other, 20$ for a donated used shirt is not helping community.
If the items are not selling for those amounts hopefully they figure it out and adjust.
I buy sometimes, but I really don’t like that Goodwill is so top “Heavy”, my money pays for people’s salaries first, the left over is for the needy.
Unfortunately with the demand for higher pay everywhere this is just how it is with any business now.
That's why I donate to small local thrift shops. Like there's one that employees special needs and down syndrome people. Etc...
Will never pay those prices for used clothing Ridiculous!!
I wish our GW's were more organized like this and neat. I know it is a new opening but our items are broken and over priced😢
This is a beautiful store with leaders who seem to care
I agree. We had a small goodwill boutique with a section where you could drop off donations. It was win-win. It closed. Contacted goodwill and no response. Good people were relocated or let go. Some could not find transportation so they couldn’t work. The other 2 goodwills near me have gone downhill. Nice people have left. They really cared about the customers. Now the place is messy and overpriced. So disappointed. People depend on this shopping. When I see this beautiful store I wonder what happened here.
Goodwills are grouped into trusts or local divisions and all are run to whatever level they have locally. Ours are on the verge of bankruptcy per my Goodwill VP neighbor.
I'd like to see how long it takes until things are on the wrong shelves and in disarray.
You must remember there are those of us who shop the goodwill because we can not afford the retail stores and we are not resalers who buy for profit not for need.Years ago I took a tour of the plant store in Santana Ca. they washed all the clothes back then
Interesting video.
You might as well shop retail stores because Goodwill prices are just as high on a lot of things.
OMG! I’m so jealous! I need to move to Las Vegas! 😍Thank you for the video. It was very informative and great to learn about the behind the scenes. I support any establishment that helps the community. ❤
Thanks for taking us along for the GW grand opening of their new store. I have a new prospective now on donated items.
It was so much fun seeing everything fresh! I know it was exciting in person. Hope you made it there early!
Dani this video was so interesting-thank you for filming the staff and inner workings of Goodwill-fascinating!
Danni thank you for filming the Preopening of the GW ,it's so very interesting .You'll get your chance very soon ,so exciting ❤🎉
Thanks for doing your show on the Goodwill stores. It gave me a much better idea of how it works. I know the regions must vary to some degree. I've shopped stores all over my state, and I've noted that some pricing is inflated. But now i know it's the individual pricing who made that decision. Interesting. Thanks for the information.
What’s interesting is how the shoes are even tagged. GW here in Ct use the dreaded marker which sometimes is so hard to get off. Some stores even do that on pocketbooks which is impossible to get out.
It is really interesting how Goodwill works. Thanks for showing us.❤️👍
That was exciting! Plus all that cool food! I don’t think I would go the first day either! So beautiful, so many goodies. In Spokane Wa they don’t have a very good selection and sometimes the prices are high! No jewelry to speak of but if you hunt and go up and down the isles you will find some treasures. Have to be patient and look through everything. It’s worth it though! Thanks for sharing! You could feel the excitement! Fun!❤🙏🎼🦋🕊
I agree. Department store sales, you get new for less than donated.
Wow! Great cover, thanks. Relative to the two in central Phoenix near me, that is a Macy's store. These are dingy, picked over, seldom organized, back room is chaos, and staff change constantly. Even so, I find items I just must have. lol. Scottsdale stores are more together overall.
Thanks for taking us along. Very interesting. 😊
It’s all about making money for goodwill from start to finish.
Of course it is!
Yup I agree...it's all show this video and those corporate rah rah folks.
Sorry you feel that way
@@TheNICHELady i've had the same disagreement with friends. i think they just don't grasp the concept of the non profits and what they bring to the community. thanks for sharing.
Wow,so interesting to see behind the scenes. I worked in the distribution centre of a similar establishment here in Australia. Sorting and pricing donations was so much fun. Everyday was something different and unique. The donations funded mental health and counselling services. It was such an interesting and rewarding job.
Your Goodwills are so nice. The ones I go to in the western ny area are dumps.
Thank you for this information, I am not close to a Goodwill to shop, although their process is probably used by most large thrift stores. I wonder how many employees really know what things are worth! I see so many items with crazy prices.
Lots of wonderful things on the shelves and very reasonably priced. Hope they keep it that way and don't raise prices.
Very informative video glad you showed us. We can be a bit more empathetic to pricing going up now that we can take into consideration rent equipment costs going up for them too. Surprised to see alcohol? But it’s Nevada I guess
Listening to these guys...it sounds to me like they are diffinately in this for PROFIT! I thought they were SUPPOSED to be HELPING people!!! How much does that cost them to ship to " other countries?" I understand there are expenses...but...it is still disheartening.
Wow-- thx for the info! Really enjoyed
Let's be clear... every business whether non profit or not is in it to make profit - non profit status is simply a tax benefit so they can put the money back into the mission statement. They help thousands of people!
I wonder how much they put back into the mission statement and what is required by the tax law. 🤔
This was fascinating! Thank you for posting. I volunteer at a thrift store and some of these marketing /merchandising ideas will work on our small scale operation 😊
That's awesome!
One of my sons used to work at goodwill in Asheville North Carolina and they had some sweet things there. I found a blenko amethyst vase when I we shopped there before he started working there. Unfortunately even on days off employees aren’t allowed to shop there. I can kinda understand it but on days off should be ok.
Same as Salvos
I live in Asheville. I never find much but then there are groups that stay all day and wait for new items
I would want to buy too much!! Oh my!!! Be first in line tomorrow!❤ BTW Goodwill is international.
19:07 "If it flies off the shelf, maybe it was priced too low."
Sorry, but I felt like kicking that guy in the nuts. What a ridiculous statement. Isn't that the idea? To sell the product at a bargain or ""thrifty" price?? Good gosh! Let people feel like they're getting a really good deal. All that statememt equates to me is GREED. This video has really opened my eyes and is swaying me to no longer shop at Goodwill. I live in Florida and there are plenty of other thrift shopping options like flea markets, estate sales and smaller community thrift stores.
It's interesting how people can watch the same thing and come up with a different point of view. Of course they want to get the best possible price for items, why wouldn't they?
I just feel like their "best possible prices" are often unreasonable for a thrift store. There's a best possible price, and then there's a ridiculous price. Goodwill prices are becoming more and more ridiculous. That's not just my opinion. It's the opinion of a lot of people in a lot of comment sections of a lot of RUclipsrs who are resellers.
Great tour and I don’t think it’s said enough about how great you are at filming! I enjoyed this one and the last one you did at the Fabulous goodwill. I’m sure the next one will be awesome too. My question for them would be is how they decide what goes online. I do believe they have good intentions and yes they definitely have to make money to operate nonprofit or not. Unfortunately it is different from region to region and all goodwills are not created equal. I live in a medium size city and we only have one and it’s not operated well at all. Honestly they mostly sell high priced junk. Every once in a while I find something decent. There are numerous other places I thrift at though. Thanks so much for sharing 😊
Wow! Thank you for taking us to this pre-show with you. Interesting to learn the history, & the process of GW. Oh, and seeing all the things!!!!
Our stores in Canberra has rubbish and few artificial flowers ,anything good is for display only ,never sold.
Alta and Rainbow Goodwill. I walked in and there was one cart that had clearly been thoroughly pillaged. I looked into one basket with only a couple of items left and there, in the corner, was a caramel glassy baby. 😳 $1.99. I’m not a reseller nor do I collect glassy baby’s, but I have it proudly displayed amongst the things I do collect because of watching your videos. Thanks!!!
Nice!
Yah I didn't know ab glassy baby either till niche lady!!❤❤❤❤
Wow Danni the sizes off your Goodwill stores are amazing. We don't have anything near that size over here, I would get lost in there. A wonderful info video. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏴🇬🇧
Very interesting I like their work ethic. Hopefully all Goodwill stores will work as successfully for their communities in the future. ❤
Goodwill profits are to the Moon!
18 location? Holy Smolies! Brother Andy!
Hello from Orlando. We have had several 40 degrees evenings. We don’t know how to act 😂
What type of folks were invited to this VIP event? Resellers? Nothing that I have been to in Kansas, is this nice! You are blessed!
Donors and supporters of Goodwill
So I wonder where the main office is for the Rockport texas store is because it's a mess, very few decent hard goods and just a major disappointment, that was a great video and heck I'd go to Vegas just to hit your thrift stores!!!
The little good will in my small town doesn’t have color tags for hard goods. They do on the clothing. So we can never get items marked down.
They are very ORGANIZED!!
Goodwill North East Wisconsin don't have Red tags or $1 days. When the tag color is still there after being 50% off they will only discount Clothing and Linen type material for $1.99. Any other than that they MAY decide to sell other products for $.99 but there never much of this on the shelves. Senior day is only 10% off. They need to get lessons from Goodwill.
Wow! You have more Goodwills than we have Dollar Generals. Lol. I live in the 2nd largest county in N.C.
In my area we have more Dollar Stores than Goodwill stores.
@@wandaarnold7395 we have one Goodwill.
WowWee!! Thats an amazing Goodwill! Did you go to the Grand opening? It must have been crazy! I don’t know if I could go when it first opens due to the crowds would over whelm me, but it’s be interesting to see people grabbing all that stuff off those shelves! 😊
That was the video right before this one (I switched them)
I’m a nice person. But, I have a hard time understanding why the price is so high with donations. They get that stuff free. He makes millions.
Did you watch the whole video to understand where that money goes? Operating a large chain of thrift stores is not free ;-)
Our goodwill in Indiana sells the good stuff behind the scenes. It’s only junk and broken objects that you find on the shelves.
We have a new Goodwill opening in Elkhorn NE soon. I wonder if they will have such an opening as your Las Vegas stores have
Oh my ... the Goodwill Corp. needs to revamp the Houston, TX Goodwills! We are the 4th largest city in the US after all, and our Goodwill stores leave much to be desired! They even took away the senior discounts. So disappointing.
Goodwill needs to revamp most stores across the US!!! They're a mess and many items are broken or chipped, and on top of that way too expensive!!
You have to take Noah with you when you go!!! 🥰
You really have alot of goodwills in Las Veagas.we have only have about five in Tallahassee. And we never have as much on our shelves as your goodwills do.
People from other countries in Massachusetts go thru random trash enough to fill a shipping container, sometimes even old fixer upper cars, baby furniture. No one bothers to even clean items. They set up little shops to support whole families & villages. They are all hard working men & women. "They" can't believe what Americans throw away. Countries like Africa, South America, Haiti. 🌎
That was fun! I hope Noah can get some of those lovelies.
Fun! Fun! Thanks for sharing!
Wow...Just Wow!!! So exciting!
Big store. Nice to see the whole process.
Did they talk about the profit they make and little goes to charity?
Yes actually that is addressed, did you watch the whole video?
Thanks for the preview. We should have thought to ask/ suggest they not cover words on items w the stickers. I wish I was there.. lol😊
I did address that with several execs and managers... they actually are not supposed to but the workers tend to just go with fast as opposed to taking time to place the tag strategically
Why serve alcohol, drinks & food? Talk about a way to cut costs!
Because the room was filled with people who had made this new Goodwill possible.
It true about the prices in WA state... Goodwill has gone nuts!!! The are replacing the local Mall's that are no more... Especially in Mount Vernon area...
Interesting video…thanks Danni🤗
My goodwill has a 10% discount once a week for seniors and once a month for veterans over and above the regular color discounts. They price so high on must home goods that it is hard to resale unless you really know your comps.
Very informative, thank you
Pennsylvania has a section of well run Goodwills. I watch thrifter channels from there too.
I think these areas that have well run districts should train the other areas! Unfortunately our Goodwills are meh. Not as bad as some described in the comments but not like Las Vegas and Pennsylvania.
Good Luck out there!
Very nice video...I love Goodwill.
Great video. ❤ JoAnn
Fascinating
At my goodwill, they action off the good stuff.
Very interesting how the employee prices the Unique red tag items.
37.5 is a European size 7 depending on brand.
You wouldn’t be able to decide which ones to buy 🥰🤣🤣
Interesting
Hi everyone here from snowy Iowa
Hi. Here from Chicago.
Wow thats quite the store.😃🇨🇦
I would go nuts in that store!
My goodwill doesn't have much, that's any good.If they do its very expensive.

non·prof·it
adjective
adjective: non-profit
not making or conducted primarily to make a profit.
"charities and other nonprofit organizations"
The "profits" being made in a non profit are to go into their missions. This is what allows them to have a 501c3 non profit status and not be taxed on the profits.
And all that stuff is donations? Unwanted items? Throw aways?
❤
Liking the music🙂
Prices should be reasonable for people in general to be able to afford
Reasonable is a very subjective thing
Beautiful!Where is this new location?
Blue Diamond
Thank you Danni 😊😊😊
I wonder how much they pay that staff that works so hard, I hope they pay them good for all their hard work.
Minimum wage in Kentucky is what workers are making in my area per what some workers told me.
@@wandaarnold7395Yep. Minimum wage to start. Unless you're hired on as a supervisor or management. Then it's like a couple extra bucks an hour.
Minimum wage is $12.50 an hour here
I think minimum wage in Kentucky is $7.25 or $7.50 I'll check on that to make sure.
The minimum wage in Kentucky matches the federal minimum wage of $7.25. Federal law says whichever wage is higher, federal or state, will be paid to workers. (Verfied Kentucky's minimal wage currently)
What torture for you! Be the first there!
Why are the California stores not on the Color Discounts Tags? I live near the Bay Area ,all the Goodwills do not go by Color Tags Discounts.
Each regioin does things their own way
Hello from snow covered Nebraska. ❤
Can't believe you fell for their bullshit line. They are for profit.....
Sorry you don't understand how a non profit works, it does not mean they don't get to make money.
Get there as soon as they open!! Please
Coming to Vegas in April, can’t wait!
Hello from Savannah, GA.
Only in Vegas!
You think there will be any food left for later 🤣🤣
What type of VIPs were invited?

Hi Danni lv Ann ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
thank youuuuu . You did a great job of videoing the entire event, the important points. So informative! what wonderful people that work and are in charge! Truly, I think we are fortunate that we have such a wonderful GoodWill...I do have a problem with the top guy or gal making hundreds of thousands at the top while many others dont make as much or what they should be making but thats no different that many other corporations and non profit corporations so welll, at the end of the day you need things to run smoothly and have talented people that know what they are doing and doing it right so that you can have such a wonderful bunch of stores. Wish you would of asked them about lowering the valumn of the music in the stores, not just for the content creators but also, for those of us that hit many stories and frankly , at the end of the day , your fed up with the dangggggg music, lol...GOD BLESS YOU AND CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT VIDEO!
I did have this conversation with them and the next day the volume was lowered!
oh thats awesome!!!! IT Can be sooooooo load sometimes..thank you NicheLady! @@TheNICHELady

Okay I feel compelled to discuss what happens to clothing after it is sold to Third World countries in bales. This is one of the hidden secrets of Goodwill and how they contribute to a growing problem in our world. The bales are sold to an importer to countries like North Africa and Asia. Here the large bale is divided up with the best items being pulled immediately by just a few resellers. What those sellers do not want is then spread out and people from all other areas in those countries dig through and pull out what they think they can sell. Those people then take the items to smaller villages and sell them. Note that I am simplifying the steps for the sake of this post. Now it all sounds great right? Well what do they do with all of the left over clothing items that are not deemed good enough for reuse? Note that this is the majority of the bale that was sent as the amount of better quality reuseable clothing items is in reality much smaller now since so many people are reselling. Anyway, the left over bale is taken to the trash dump and unfortunately these same countries do not have a good system for disposing of their trash so it ends up in the ocean. Yes in some places they dump trash straight into the ocean or so close to the ocean that during the big storms it is swept out into the ocean. So the Goodwill story is not all "peaches and cream" like they make it out to be. That said, I am a full time reseller and have been doing so since the late 1980's but I have watched the Goodwills ever increasing prices that really do not help the low income anymore. ps - There are many documentaries online where they document what I have just stated here. Check them out if you are a troll. pss - I love your channel and think you have an amazing amount of knowledge about what to collect. Thank you!
Unfortunately we can't blame higher prices of items on anything other than the rising cost of everything!
That is sad about the clothing... I was always told it got ground up to make new materials.
Thanks Danni for the tour love Goodwill ❤ and you
