- This was a quick, easy and accurate way to cut twin (double) mortise & tenon joints using the Shaper Origin! Just another fun capability of this incredible machine! Thanks. I am digging my Shaper Origin and always looking for places to use it. It is such a handy tool. I recently wanted a large radius on the edges of a couple charcuterie boards. In the past I would of drawn them out and then cut on the band saw but that rarely comes out perfect. I used the Origin to cut a 96" radius on the long sides of the boards and bam, perfect! love it.

Between glue, bondo-wood filler, epoxy and stains, I use a ton of chopsticks. I actually buy them in bulk online. That was great to see someone on your level doing the same 🤣. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks a lot! This could be accomplished quite easily with the Pantorouter but it would require some spacers perhaps. I don’t think both mortises (or tenons) could be cut with one template. Anyway…thanks for the idea for another YT video!
@@ramonartful spacers I can manage. But if it were doable with a single template that would be great.
@@thwwoodcraft1449 Yeah...I don't really see how one could cut twin tenons this small with a single template at the Panorouter since it uses a 2:1 ratio. Let me think about this. Thanks

I would have used loose tenons. That way you aren't depending on a router for the mating edges.
Yeah…that’s a good option. I just wanted to try the capability of this machine. It’s amazing for many things but not my first choose for mortise and tenon’s. Cheers

Really good question. Everybody’s situation or needs would be different. Personally, I would probably have a Domino…especially since I sell hundreds of Docks! 😬
In fairness, they are completely different machines, each with their own capabilities and strongpoints. If one was building furniture where integral tenons were important, then Pantorouter all the way! Someone looking at building some furniture and small boxes, the Domino is a good fit. Another that may be interested in doing inlay, or cutting odd sized templates…maybe the Shaper Origin is a good choice. I am sponsored by two of the machines…so I do feel blessed for having all three. Thanks a ton.
Another great Shaper Origin project, Ramon. It's an amazingly accurate machine and I love it every time I use it. I have a question about your grid layout when cutting the tenons. Is there a reason you didn't reference off the back portion of the vertical table of the Workstation rather than using the workpiece? Wouldn't that eliminate any slight error if the workpieces were not exactly the same thickness? Obviously, it worked just fine since your end result is perfect (puhfect 🙂)
Hey David…good catch! Yes, I should have referenced off the back of the work piece! By the time I thought of that, I had already started…and a couple thou diff in material probably didn’t make much difference here. I had marked my reference corner front/left…and since I’m so used to referencing off of that corner, I never thought about it until I was already cutting. Meh…it worked 😬. Thanks

How do you like the Hammer A3?
I like it. Of course, if I had the space I would have stand alone machines. But this machine is solid and accurate both as a jointer and planer.
I could have been done with the cuts by the time you were halfway through with the long long task of setting up this thing. Take a ruler mark the wood take router with guide and zoom zoom done. Later on in the day you will still be inputting computer stuff into this little gadget. No thanks.
I get it. I cut mortise n tenons a lot of different ways. I just wanted to show yet another way.
Now, some people like technology and enjoy things like this. You’d be surprised as to the vast amount of things that this machine is actually capable of. I know for a fact that many of those tasks one could not do by conventional methods. At least not accurately.

Not sure what you mean? My customer paid for what? And are you talking about my Marples chisels? They’re decent. I also have expensive Japanese chisels! 😬💪🏼
