Off Andros (Bahamas) on a sandy bottom at about 25 metres surrounded by coral near the the Tongue of the Ocean which drops virtually sheer to 2,000m. Dumped our buyancy, sat on the sand and then turned out our lights. Once my eyes had adjusted, it was magic even as my imagination kicked in!
Then there were a couple cave dives and two bouncers to a ledge overhanging the Tongue at about 40m. No narcosis the first time but there certainly was on the second a few days later. Small Hope Bay highly recommended.
Near canidasa Bali between the 2 islands visible from shore , apparently quite rare to get suitable conditions to undertake this drift dive safely, see the guys at water worx dive Padang bai
The AOWD course is fun Our deep dives were 58 m off Vulcan Rock Hout Bay South Africa our instructor cold see that we were very competent on our open water 1 coarse ,we had all been diving for years and at the end of our open water coarse he sold us the AOWD over a few beers 👌
Congrats with your AOWD certification! And very nice footage of the different species there. And yes I dive too ... best dives where in Egypt / Red Sea and our local spots in the Netherlands / Oosterschelde.
The underwater footage was seriously spectacular. I miss diving with my old ears and sinuses I'm just snorkeling now. That Spanish dancer. 👍. At least I can watch your great learning adventure. Memories are always good when you're in your 70's
Is this really the Advanced Open water diver course? Seems very similar to my SSAC (Scottish version of BSAC) 2nd class diver qualification. Although several years ago now, we underwent open water rescue and lifts from 20 metres whilst buddy breathing, several 40m dives, and snorkel dive to 12 metres in full kit. Admittedly our training took place over a considerably longer period. Whilst certainly not disparaging your efforts, and no criticism intended I would have thought the Advanced course would be more .... well advanced. ps love your vids and fish/mollusc identification. keep up the good work❤
Thanks. The names are as much for my own reference as anything because they're so easy to forget. There are so many new creatures down there to learn about!
We are looking to upgrade what we use to take pics/videos I thought you had done a video about this. I can’t find it please point me in right direction. Thanks
We list all our gear in the description of each episode... Jamie made a video about his underwater gear here: ruclips.net/video/8ESxy3dDySE/видео.html Liz 👌
I've always been impressed by your animal research, here and in previous videos. But how?? The common, or everyday, name as well as the Linnaean name. I love reading the name and finding the Latin roots, e.g. "Spanish Dancer," _Hexa-somethingorother_ and _sanguinea_ (bloody or, simply, red). Cheers on your certificate! Regards, please, to Liz.
Hi Daniel. It helps having people around me like Sharon or Maman who might be able to give me a head start, otherwise Google normally delivers if you put in the right search term. Imagine trying to do all this identification without Google 😮
Do you dive? Where was your best ever dive?

Not scuba, it's on the to do list.

@Ken Pole Wow, those sites look enticing! I wonder if we'll get to the Bahamas? We'll see... Liz 👌

We knew you were certifiable but now you are! Congratulations.
Haha! Thank you!
Beautiful underwater world! The guys are funny! You both are great people you can tell everyone loves you guys!

Thanks, Mark. I did my Open Water in Egypt back in 1998, and dived again when we sailed through there. Best diving was on the border with Sudan 🤿👌
Amazing photography. And great video as usual.
So happy you enjoyed all the hard work that went into producing it. 🙏 Liz
The underwater sea life never disappoints, thanks for bringing it to us! And nice work on the cert:)

Yes, it's the course. It followed the PADI text book and was undertaken at a serious dive school. Sounds like you are a lot more advanced. Liz
Really interesting looking sea life, and well done, giving their names.
Thanks. The names are as much for my own reference as anything because they're so easy to forget. There are so many new creatures down there to learn about!
Well done Jamie, and especially for NOT taking your camera gear with. From a PADI dive instructor, Karl.
Much appreciate the comment, Karl! Liz 👌
Jamie. I didn't realize you were born 20 March 2021. Thanks for the video.
Yes, a bit of a slip-up there, well spotted! Liz 😉
@@followtheboat Hi Liz. I picked up on the birth date as soon as I saw it. I'm guessing it should have been 20 March 1921. Do you agree?
Not a slip-up, Liz. Done on purpose. Can't have anyone know I was born in 1921 😉
see you in 18 months BigFin
Yeah, BigFin are the best! Liz

@10:25 How big is that nudibranch? Fantastic video!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! The Spanish Dancer or the Starry Mouthed? Liz
OK, just checked with Jamie. The length of the Spanish Dancer was about 25cms and the Starry Mouthed about 3cms. Liz
Brilliant!!!!!!!
Cheers, mate! 😁 Liz
