@@adamstamp5386 me and my friends out in Hawaii used to put them on every weekend driving to the north or west shore to surf back in the 80's. 1 was from Texas, 1 from Louisianna and I was from Florida. We all knew them, anyone who surfed back then knew Hoodoo Gurus it was just a thing.
In 1986 when I was 16 I made myself a purple paisley shirt dress in the style of the shirts worn in this video. My mother's full-time job was a haute couture dressmaker and she taught me to sew at age 12 on industrial sewing machines. No other teenage girl I knew or ever saw had a dress like my purple paisley shirt dress. My mother took me into Sydney by train to buy the fabric from an expensive, specialty fabric shop, where she used to buy fabric for her clients. We made a special trip specifically just to buy the fabric. It was made from 100% pure Australian merino wool. I wore it with fish nett stockings and ankle boots with six buckles up each side. I loved that dress.
Dave's voice has always been underrated. It's so smooth and sweet that's it's easy to miss the huge range and big interval jumps that he nails with apparent ease in the days before ProTools and Autotune.
Still love this song ... Living the dream in Sydney in 1984 driving across the harbour bridge, sun shining, windows open Triple M on the car radio. ❤ It doesn't get much better!
I don't understand how come these guys weren't more famous. They weren't in the UK charts. I vaguely recognised what's my scene but even then I think that was on an American TV show. I only came across them within the last month or so and I'm nearly 38.
Like a lot of Aussie bands in the 80’s, they were criminally underrated. I’ve introduced one of my friends, who recently immigrated from England, to the “Gurus” and Angels. They are now 2 of his favourite bands
I waited about 40 years to hear this song live. It became my anthem in 2015 for the themes in the song. Tonight was the night, in San Diego at Humphrey's by the Bay. Thanks HDG's! Great concert.

They performed miles above expectations. My wife came in not knowing who they were and left a fan! The St. Pete show was one of the best live shows I have seen.
Used to see them live whenever they came to town in the 80s and 90s. Was devastated when they broke up and over the moon when they got back together. Still see them today if I can. To hear the whole crowd start singing the opening verse is an amazing feeling.
Dave Faulkner is also a bit of encyclopedia on music. I appreciate someone who is into what they do enough to be a bit of an authority on the subject. Great Oz band.

Hoodoos are probably the best band in the world most people have never heard of.... I'm from British psychedelic band Spacemen3. I saw the Hoodoos many times in the 80s and 90s.... always blistering live ... recommend them to anyone loving "Real Music"

Love these guys, soooo underrated. First heard them in the mid 80’s, and even then their music was way ahead of other bands at that time.
At a time that was dominated by the keyboard and synthesiser the Gurus still rocked it by traditional means.
