I love how the Witch King and Gandalf’s dialogue are polar opposite deliveries of the same content. “Go back to the abyss prepared for you. To the nothingness that waits you and your master Sauron” “This is my hour, don’t you know death when you see it? Die now, and curse in vain.” Both characters are essentially banishing each other’s cause on Maiar-istic terms. Too cool.

The witch-king's voice is off I will admit, but this is a cartoon meant for kids, so it can't be *actually* scary. But the look is perfect, weird, scary, intimidating and exactly as depicted in the book. The Jackson movie version has an interesting idea, but I would have preferred the emptiness between the hood and the crown, the glowing eyes, the literal malice that his presence spreads. Some people have said that glowing eyes would look goofy, which is fair.
But nothing could look goofier than the literal Sauron "eye" that they made, sitting between those two bed posts at the top of his tower. In the book no such thing is described, and Gollum, having seen his body, tells us that Sauron has four fingers on one hand, i.e. he has the rest of the body too. Also his eye form is taken from the symbolic language of his will manifesting at different places, and his powers of seeing, which we know for a fact come from the palantir of Minas Ithil that he stole. So the "eye of Sauron" is only symbolic in the book, not literal, and looks goofy as fuck.

I do like this more though I see from a more practical standpoint why they went with the darkness instead a helmet appearance.
The eye I though did good at giving Sauron a more eldritch feel, though I really liked how the Hobbit did it with the ‘eye’ forming around Sauron and his actual form/body being the ‘pupil.’

@@nevermore7285 I loved the Hobbit adaptation of Sauron as well. It was a really clever visual trick and a twist on the appearance of Sauron in the Jackson movies. I just think that a literal eye on top of the tower of Barad Dûr was a bit silly-looking.
And I totally understand that some aspects of the book do not translate well. I do think that the witch-king's look is iconic with the empty crown helmet thing.
I am simply saying that I prefer the way that they were in the book and I am saying that they could have been adapted as is. Not have literal glowing eyes as that might look strange, but have them glow just a little bit when

How peter jackson profited from this animated masterpiece. He just had to write and produce the story along these lines the screenplay and movie beats were already made. In movies they have little cartoons and sketches to plan each scene. In this a lot of that job is done already, the continuity and scenes are prepared. He did well everyone has done well. I'll even argue that, in terms of accuracy, PJ also did a better job. Sure, he did not take as much dialogue from the book, but the Rankinbass version straight up twists some stuff. Like: They did not dispatch Merry to call the Rohirrim, the Timeline is completely off: Frodo puts on the Ring and spends days in Mount Doom without Sauron noticing. Gimli and Legolas are COMPLETELY ABSENT! Faramir gets no lines and a five second scene, all Nazgul except Skeletor over here are, well... Skeletons. Gollum is an Amphibian, not a Hobbit. Aragorns decision to lead the host of the west as a distraction, a chance for Frodo is compeletely removed, because "IF THE CHOICE BE MINE, WE MARCH!" or something... The Ring has a decorative pattern (what poem in black speech?).

1. I thought it was kinda funny that some of the Orc drummers looked so dam happy when they were drumming like they didn't have a care in the world and were just enjoying what they were doing
2.I always hate when someone says they hate this movie for dumb reasons like the art style or the sound .....the art style and sound effects they used back than in my opinion made alot of stuff you say in the live action that didn't look so scary this movie made it LOOK scary like Grond thing looked like a cross between a wolf and a wolverine and the fact that it was drooling what looked like lava or molten lead made it more terrifying than the Live action version that just looked like it could breath fire
