SINGLISH and having a Singapore ACCENT is different if u didn't know. Singlish means mixing hokkien/Chinese/Malay/Tamil into your English sentence. But having a Singapore ACCENT means speaking proper English but with different variations of tone. Do u not know that different countries have different kind of accents? Do Americans and British speak the same way? No, they have different accents. Hope my explanation helped.

Sometimes, while we are speaking Singlish, we also added some chinese to it. To us, we seem very comfortable speaking Singlish. However, it would be awkward when speaking with americans and british.

If you don't think our accent is sophisticated enough or whatever, go ahead and speak in an accent of your choice. Just like the difference of accent between the British and Americans, Singaporeans are influenced by various culture and languages as they are living in a multi-racial country called Singapore so they speak in a different accent from the British and American. They cannot avoid being not able to speak Singlish. But at least Skarf tried not to speak singlish right? I am proud to be a Singaporean and the LOVE speaking singlish:) Singaporeans ROCK!!! :)

@solaris5655 just because we have english as a first language here doesn't mean that we HAVE to speak perfect english. I doubt that you speak perfect english all the time either. In other countries where english is the first language, many of the citizens still fail english too. why be so judgemental when you don't have your facts right, we speak well, just as you choose to be so critical about an entire culture, we choose to speak singlish because we can not because we have to.
Nothing wrong with Singlish as long as you can speak complete sentences, and as long as people understand what you're saying. I can safely say that 8 out of 10 Korean idols can't even complete a proper sentence in English, but I don't see people bitching about it the way you do about Singlish.
