If it was not for this show I would not have known about Dame Elizabeth at all. WOW. Thank you Dame and thank you Queen Janet. What an achievement, WOW.
Janet you are a true America sweetheart and activist in my book
If everyone in medicine was like Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, the world would benefit tremendously. What a hero!
Kudos to this pioneer Black Nurse that took it upon herself to take on this challenge that has given black folks a chance to live 👏🏾
absolutely!!
This is so important..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amen!
This should be the only type of award shows
Dame Elizabeth Anionwu is truly a fierce warrior Queen!
What a beautiful tribute to an extraordinary woman. And a really nice touch that Janet presented the trophy.
As a daughter of a sickle
Cell warrior, this was beautiful to watch
As a carrier of SC Disease, I thank you Dame Elizabeth Anionwu for your dedication and service to our people and bringing this disease to the attention of the world. 💐💐💐💐 I also thank you, Miss Jackson, for making yourself available to present this award to Dame Anionwu. May God continue to bless you both!
God bless you Dame Anionwu 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
My mother, a Guyanese, moved to Canada in 1968, When I was a very young child in the 70s my mother, a registered nurse (and daughter and sister of registered nurses), she demanded that I be tested for sickle cell anemia. Apparently it was something that was not done in Toronto and it may be that I was the first to be tested for it. Luckily I did not have it.
Thank you Dame Elizabeth for all your hard work. It is my hope that your efforts are spread throughout the African Diaspora.
Wow! My family is Guyanese as well! I rarely get to see more of us on here in the comments! Praying for you and your family love! ❤️🙏🏾
Now that's STAR POWER BABY!!... miss Janet Jackson!❤
Black women continue with civil rights, empowerment, and Black excellence.
👊🏽💐 ❤
That's actually sad because where are the black kangs and their help when it comes to civil rights, empowerment and black excellence or are black women expected to carry everyone on their shoulders (as usual) within their community.
Came for JANET and finished up learning a lot
Thank you Mrs. Anionwu for your Dedication ,Determination and Hard work for the research and for Sickle Cell Anemia . Congratulations and very well deserved.
We love you and God Bless You!🙏🏽🕊
“Love in action. Not as a soft sentiment, but as a strategy.” I love that!
Lost 4 from my family . My aunt lost 3 of her children. This is a brutal disease. THANKS ..for shedding light on it.
I am so , so sorry for your loss.
Oh wow. She was pleasently stunned
Beautiful spirited woman is truly an angel. God bless you for a job well done 👏 Dr. Thank you, Janet Jackson, for that touching tribute and support of this queen. You two are extraordinary, and God sent
I have sickle cell disease and even though it was more well known in the US, care has only recently begun to become more humane and patient centered. I’m so grateful for people like her who are making the lives of others better ❤
My daughter has full blown Sickle Cell Anaemia also and suffered so much especially when she was a baby and toddler. The blood disorder was recognised as a chronic, debilitating illness and individuals with it able to claim disability living allowance. However, because the illness is seen as a "black" disease (majority of people affected are black or from Mediterranean decent) and the blatant racism that exist in England, individuals with this blood disorder no longer qualify for this benefit. It is so disgusting in this country. Yet chronic illnesses such as Cystic Fibrosis or any others where the majority affected are not black people, they remain entitled to this benefit. If this isn't another example of blatant racism and inequality, then I don't know what is.
And she's STILL being strong. You can tell she wanted to cry at the end.
Emotional .
Congratulations Dame Elizabeth Anionwu for your lifetime of service. Your compassion, determination and dedication is inspiring to all.
My parents' 1st child died of sickle cell anemia 2 weeks before his 2nd birthday.
Thank you Elizabeth, Janet Jackson and everyone involved in the research for the cure of sickle cell anemia.

A true queen
Bless her heart. What an amazing woman. She deserves all of the accolades and praise she gets and it’s long over due.
There was a movie called, "A Warm December" (1971) and the main character has sickle cell anemia. The movie was directed and starred Sidney Poitier.
I watched that movie as a child , along with uptown Saturday night and a pice of the action. I have never forgotten it!. I am now a medical doctor and still remain "her crises and pain" from the movie . It was beautifully done and documented the struggle of so many.
Wow! That brought tears to my eyes. What an incredible woman! Congratulations Dame Elizabeth Anionwu. Thank you for your dedication and service to others. You rock. And thanks Janet for attending and presenting her the award.
When one life can make a difference. This is so inspiring. God bless her!
I am a Guyanese, I do not have the sickle cell virus but I have relatives who have the traits. Thanks to Elizabeth it is not a death sentence. Thank you, Thank you and Thank you for your tenacity.
Brilliance. Thank you, Mrs. Anionwu. THANK YOU! 🥹
Thank YOU Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, I'm surprised you haven't been getting any recognition when they do Igbo Awards or Nigerian in Diaspora awards, you're truly a queen and I'm super proud to be your Igbo brother. You should be a highly titled lady here.
Congratulations Elizabeth I am a black woman who lives in Canada was Trai I g in England in the 60s was working in Atkinson Morley in Wimbledon one night and saw my first person in a pickle cell crisis 8t was frightening experience as I was so young Thank you very much and want to say I'm so proud and you and your family should be Lv from Canada
This was beautiful, empowering & uplifting.
Thank you for all that you do🦋😘
I lost my close friend Kwame to sickle cell when he was just 17 years old. It was the 80s and back then there was such a stigma about it here in Ghana that none of us knew he was suffering. He was a shining ray of light, full of goodness, always happy and hopeful. It broke my heart. It broke all of our hearts. I pray that a cure will be found so that no one ever has to suffer from this disease. Thank you Dame Elizabeth for all you do.

Elizabeth Anionu is a real life Queen in real time. Completely aspirational and inspirational. An example of greatness.
Oh gee golly. I'm crying for strangers.
*Congratulations Dame Elizabeth Anionwu!* I applaud your efforts, strength and fortitude. Thank you for heightening awareness. Nice to see Janet Jackson who is - and always has been - my favorite solo artist. She is always graceful, dignified and kind. *I lost a very good friend (named Olevia} to Sickle Cell Anemia. We'd known each other since we were in our late teens, early twenties. I was by her bedside when she took her last breath. Her parents were told she would not live to be 10. She lived to be 57!*
God Bless you Elizabeth 😢🤗❤
