Love the kitchen, I’ve always had granite until this last house, now I have quartz and am loving it. Love the tile going all the way up, Rebecca calls this “flow”. ❤
I really love my quartz countertops. So easy to maintain and they always look great. Thank you for sharing your beautiful kitchen and dining room. I love the functionality of it and how everything is so well thought out. You rock sharrah! 💗
Im from Germany and laminate is actually still very popular here. Quarz is slowly on the rise, but I love the warmth of a wood looking countertop without the maintanance of real wood 😊 love your videos ❤
Sharrah, your personality and presentation are fenominal! You are a natural in front of the camera... just like your Mom! Beautiful project, as always! Thank you for sharing your tips.
Online, I found for my stove this magnetic shelf that sits atop my stove back. On that shelf, I have mugs with olive wood serving utensils and an olive wood rolling pin. This draws the eye up from the stove and frees up counter space where the utensils would have otherwise gone. Love it!
Some granites are GORGEOUS depending on the piece. Not the bland generic a lot of us end up with by default . Quartz can also be lovely. Marble is incredible but wouldn't last in my home. I'd be super paranoid daily. There's also XL porcelain slabs now too which have some great patterns soooo I can't pick because I also love butcher block so I'm a mess 🙃
I love quartz countertops. The wooden box you have hung in the dining room is called a printers tray. It used to hold the actual metal letters or plates that went into a printers press and printed text.
Great tips, but I am sure it was a pretty penny to do it all. I think there should have been tiles on the side of the stove. I can definitely see lots of splatters and grease. Or at least have a very large cutting board or two there next to the wall. Love the top cabinets on the bottom. And the new windows and bamboo window treatments are very stylish.
Since the view out my kitchen window is of trees, I keep the window bare of any window treatment. Doing so provides views of the trees from the kitchen, dining room, living room, and an adjacent bedroom, and makes the kitchen look bigger. The key to that look was painting the sill around the window to match the black window frame. Love it. The black window frame was the starting point for my color palette. That which you cannot change inside your budget is always the starting point. I love that I went with that. It's so cohesive and symmetrical.
Your stove is against a wall, so it would be best to put something that creates fire protection on that wall. Also, a faucet that sprays water from high up, winds up spraying water all over your kitchen when you use it!
Another great use of floating shelves is to take up off the countertop the decorative glass jars where I store various nuts and seeds. The glass of the jars maintains the open vibe of the floating shelves, and privides easy access, because I have nuts and seeds most every day.
Sharrah, beautiful transformation! I have carra marble for 3/4 of my kitchen but I put butcher block around the stove since the marble can stain. It is just me and my husband in the house so we are very mindful around the marble :)
I have 3 smaller olive wood cutting boards hanging in my kitchen. They follow through with the olive wood vibe without a big outlay like installing an olive wood countertop. I like to think of them hanging there to serve up cheese and fruit hors deuvres to guests.
You’ve done a great job reviving this place. Something for that printing press thing hanging on the dining room wall, would be an elegant display for a collection of old keys 😊
Should have backsplash product on the right side of the stove. I see frying oils , spaghetti sauce, etc., splashed on the wall that’s right next to the stove top! Oops….
@@beany1944, you can only wipe it off if the surface is of the type that will allow it to be wiped off. That is why people install “backsplash” material above a countertop and around stove areas. Unless she painted that wall with a high gloss or oil paint (which is highly unlikely), then oils and sauces will immediately absorb and stain the wall. Even people who aren’t dirty pigs should know that.
@@lynnharrell9598backsplash is definitely ideal but I personally haven’t installed one, the wall is painted with a good quality paint in satin finish and I can easily wipe it, I’ve not had any major problems keeping it nice and clean but I’m really hoping to finally get a beautiful backsplash next spring
Sure, if it's your own house (and the right type of paint). But vacation renters might not be as diligent. True story: I rented out my home to a young couple for two years and they had a baby while they were there. After they moved out (and after I gave back their deposit) I was cleaning and looked up and finally noticed spaghetti sauce splattered on the dining room ceiling! So maybe they didn't do soap and water, or maybe they didn't care, which was amazing, since they were the ones living there!. Imagine my OMG moment! :) So, you never know what you're going to get....
I got rid of my upper cabinets, and put in some floating shelves. It made my kitchen look twice as big, and not feel so claustrophobic. I love it. The key is to keep just three things on each shelf to keep the room breathable and minimize the need for dusting. Because the cabinets going away cut down on the amount of storage space, I store a lot of pots inside my oven. I don't bake a whole lot, so that works fine for me. It's all about what is going to bring you comfort and stay within your budget.
I'm renovating at the moment and I have been trying to explain to my builder and kitchen guy that I wanted a plaster hood. I felt I was banging my head against the wall. But now I have the guide. Thank you 😂
Looks great! one big problem. The right side of the stove has dry wall. what is that going to look like when splattered with grease? it bothers me. and I think it will be a bad thing.
My fav is quartz! Beautiful, affordable, & easy to clean. I love love this kitchen makeover! Will be saving this for my kitchen Reno 😍😍😍 thanks for sharing your brilliant designs! ❤️
Love your vlog Sharrah. The cottage looks so inviting and cosy. Regarding kitchen worktop we researched a few and went for Matt porcelain. It’s heat resistant , non porous and looks clean and contemporary. Whilst it’s more expensive than quartz and granite because of the extra work needed to install it, we love it and it’s easy to maintain.
You always do such an Amazing job Sharrah💗. What a beautiful cottage. You are such a blessing to watch and your videos are always so inspiring. God bless your sweet precious family💞
I ❤ the quartz counter and the beautiful kitchen and making every space count, fliping the cupboard is a brilliant idea.but mostly i vant believe Sawyer was still little when you started the reno and the towards the end pregnant wit Brody....just ❤
Great job, loving it but I don't like the Range next to the wall. I don't know where else it could go, but just saying (my opinion). It is quartz counter all the way.
Olive wood bowls serve as art on one of my floating shelves. I have an olive wood camel poised to take a drink out of them. So cool. I love my black, white and olive wood color pallette.
I actually have that same painting of the man praying over his meal in my kitchen but he’s much bigger and in a wooden frame as well… found him in one of those indoor flea markets a few years ago…
Emma Roberts, but I’m sure you’ve heard it before. Love the cottage especially the exterior. Also, can’t wait to see both you and your mom’s Christmas decor. 🎄
Sharrah, you have great taste - a little different than your Mom, but just as great. I love all of your very practical and beautiful choices. The only things that I would have changed (for my own home) are the stainless steel frig and dishwasher. I don't like SS, but I realize that they are the most practical for a rental situation. In fact, you were very brave to buy that porcelain (?) farm sink. Or is is acrylic? It looks gorgeous now. Let's hope people keep it that way. Bravo. Love the kitchen windows which make a HUGE difference. Like you, I prefer quartz, but butcher block is probably my favorite. It's obviously not the most practical for a rental, so you made a good call with the countertops.
Im still a granite girl. I absolutely love it. Such a cute transformation, but i would'nt want to cook at that stove. Im right handed so the stove is too close to the wall for me. But its so pretty..id live with it
Nice. I know by experience that some kitchen installs are challenging I have a square kitchen room with Windows and doors on every wall... not easy and finally I realised I just had not enough countertops .old houses are full of charm but sometimes it's really not easy
You need backsplash around behind and on the sixe of the stove. I prefer granite most of the time and i love butcher block on top of base cabinets and for shelves too.
Love love it….your mom is going to have a duck because the drapes are too long and drag the floor….I hope you have a little girl who is just as precious as you are!
I was a quartz gal all the way, until the recent studies that have alarmingly found out how deadly - literally - quartz dust from the man made material is to the fabricators, even when wearing dust masks. Due to this recent report, California is now considering banning quartz slab manufacturing, so now I am a porcelain slab gal. Although I do love a well made wood countertop in bathrooms and laundry rooms.
@@cynthiapm8149 possibly worse as the dust fro the grinding is simply deadly. Since I left my comment, another state is considering banning it - I forget which.

Granite- I love the movement and uniqueness of natural stone
That blue dress looks amazing, your beautiful. Beautiful cozy home too
I’m a Butcher Block kinda girl…..
Love the rustic/primitive/farmhouse look it gives since that’s my jam!
You did a beautiful 😍 job on the remodel. 👏🏼
I love all the natural light and the windows in your kitchen.
It’s a beautiful and cheerful small kitchen.
I just did quartzite and it is both beautiful and amazingly easy to maintain it’s bulletproof!
Love the kitchen, I’ve always had granite until this last house, now I have quartz and am loving it. Love the tile going all the way up, Rebecca calls this “flow”. ❤
I’m definitely a honed marble countertop girl, but I will say quartz is so easy to maintain and I do like a butcher block countertop too!
I really love my quartz countertops. So easy to maintain and they always look great. Thank you for sharing your beautiful kitchen and dining room. I love the functionality of it and how everything is so well thought out. You rock sharrah! 💗
Sharrah, no one is going to want to leave your cottage! The kitchen turned out beautiful and very practical. Oh! I'm a quartz gal myself.❤❤❤❤
So fun. I love it. I've only had granite but the quartz is beautiful!
I am in love with this home. You have made such a wonderful inviting space
I also like quartz and prefer a honed look to a shiny one. That kitchen is truly stunning and perfect for an AirBnB. 👏👏👏 love it!!!!

Quartzite … best of all worlds

Quartz Gal. Cleans up so easy. Timeless ❤
I’m so excited to redo my grout in the kitchen. I thought I would have to live with the color we choose. Thank you for the helpful tip!

Quartz for me!
One of my floating shelves holds a decorative olive wood spice rack. Again, easy access, and nice to have off the counter.

Thanks Sharrah the vlog was awesome. Love the Stone house cottage. It's beautiful. My favorite counter top is Quartz.
I'm in love with the idea of butcher block right now
Butcher block gal for sure. Love the semi-rugged wood look? Kinda beachy, kinda boho, kinda classic, kinda chefy?
Love, love, love the cottage. I currently have granite but would love quartz in a marble pattern.

The side wall by the stove! It will stain from cooking if you do not want a backsplash their plexiglass would work.

Quartzite 😍 Now if only I could afford it.
Hi Sharrah 👋🏼 I loved the transformation❤❤❤ I prefer marble and quartz I like a durable and light counter top.
Soapstone. -love the look
Amazing, love this home 😁😍
Quartz my favorite due to its low maintenance and durability
Is Alabaster the color of the cabinets? They look more green tone really love the color please confirm what it is. Lovely kitchen !!
