The performance was very good, but I think it lacked some impact. The sound was phenomenal, but there was a lot of messy technique. Particularly in the jazz running and holding straight lines. I liked the performance over all, but I think my major criticism is that it just wasn't clean enough. The final song didn't have the impact I think the show was looking for either. It seems like if there was maybe another 30 seconds to a minute to give the last song it would have been better general effect wise so that the final number wouldn't have felt so rushed. To be fair, this isn't a professional recording so I don't know what it sounded like to the judges, but I think the best way to fix my issue with the final movement is just to get the low reed soli much, much louder. If the beginning of the movement is louder, then it won't feel like the energy and noise is crushed into the end. However, the general effect and the show structure isn't something you guys can control, so I can only say focus on encouraging everyone, especially the freshman, to up their physical performance as much as possible. Luckily for you all, this isn't your last performance and you have another chance at nationals to get better. Walton has an amazing program, so I would not be surprised if you blow this performance out of the water in Indiana, but to do that the marching technique has got to get much better. I'm sure Luke will have a whole set of drills for you guys to work on this week, but just clean up your individual performances and the entire band will look much better.
Neve Smith oh thank you so much for your feedback! i agree 100% with everything you said, but we didn’t get a technique block which would have helped a little bit lol and yeah movement four was pretty messy and drill in movement two haha but thx again
Kennesaw Mountain had an amazing show this year; they really got their act together after last year. I don't keep track of their band all that much, but it was only the past year or two that they really fell behind. They have an amazing track record and watching their show for this year, it shows that they have been stepping it way up to get back to their former title. The performance is very clean and the technique is amazing, especially for such a small band. Any mistake is very noticeable in a band their size, and they look far cleaner as a whole than a lot of larger groups.
i don’t see why we got 10

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one puzzled by this weekends results.
How did Kennesaw Mountain even make finals?!

You guys did great, our band got 31st, we lucked out even getting to go
Was it just me or was the electronics part not playing at the beginning of movement 2?
Nevermind, my volume was low and I couldn't hear it.
