not sure if someone already mentioned it but that yellow stuff is likely carnotite. its usually lemon-yellow and a highly radioactive mineral consisting of hydrated vanadate of uranium and potassium. The white fluid you see on the ground is most likely chemical precipitate from the dissolution of her surrounding hydrated minerals. Probably a mix of carbonates and soluble salts. I do hope you washed off well and did not ingest any. Also that respirator bag looks new (post 1960). It's probably for serpentinite or chrysotile which is essentially asbestos. Those white spiny/fibrous crystals you found are likely chrysotile. I hope to God you didn't disturb any! That stuff will permanently inbed itself in any mucous membrane. Also, typically hydrated hydrothermal minerals associated with carnotite will contain any number of toxic minerals either via chemical reactivity, radiation or inhalation hazards. I'm a geologist by the way. Cool video though! I've explored my fair share of abandoned mines here in Arizona and New Mexico.
Thank you for the info. One thing I am 100% certain of is the primary ores were Gold and Silver. Other types of minerals include calcite, pyrite, and chalcedonic quartz. I was thinking those crystals may be asbestos too, so we didn't disturb it.
In the same way you disturb water. Touch it, breath on it, or interact with it in any direct or indirect way. It'll come off the ceiling and float in the air, and you'll breath it in.
@@MrCora1212 I'm a country boy and grew up my whole life in the country and hunting and fishing and being in the woods but caves and shit like this freak me out also but only because I'm afraid of the cave collapsing or getting trapped in somehow so it's not about being from the city or country I dont believe cause there's not much of anything that I'm afraid of but that's one thing I am
PunkinHead - While your scenario is a distinct possibility; the main reason for those wooden pegs is to hang vent bagging, Air, Water, & Electric lines. Vent bagging on one side of the drift and Air, Water, & Electric on the other. Keeps the floor clear and they're less susceptible to damage. - .
Actually those wooden wedges in the back (roof) are for hanging old power lines, blasting line or phone line. then for the yellow rock and dirt, it's usually just decaying rock and minerals. the birds died more than likely from getting lost in the dark or something brought them in. for future reference for you guys, use your senses to detect for gases like confusion, headaches, tightness in your chest ect. a lot of mines just have bad air due to it being stagnant and the oxygen and gasses separating with the heavier to lighter... if that makes sense to you.

The reason the metal bars where in the ceiling was because when mining that deep the pressure starts to build up, putting rods in it that as some point were connected to rock pillars that had been carved out most likely would release the pressure over multiple points. Short answer, they keep the cave safe
My dad & grandad were miners. They both did their mining in Spring Valley, on Mt. Wheeler, at the base of Oceola. My guess(& I do stress the word 'guess'!) on EWU's question concerning the steel embedded in the stone would have been the same answer. I suppose I've picked up on a thing or two. Gramps & Dad would be pleased ☺️
Just to let you know, that you and your girlfriend should do some miner's research before going into caves & mines. #1 Even today they use a bird in a cage, because their is no meter that can read a certain percentage of gases and once the bird is dead, they remove it from it's cage and drop it and leave the cave at once. It's a warning to other miners that enter. #2 The zero with the x through it, means no one died when they had a gas blow out or earth quake at 8:00. #3 Those red ribbons means this cave could instant flash flood or a gas air pockets just above. #4 Yes they do have fall out caves, but believe me, you will never find them as they are so far under ground. #5 It's a good thing you didn't poke a hole in that bag you thought was water. Look at the other idiots that thought they should take the Radioactive substance out of the black cans and broken bags. They probably are dead from cancer by now. Their is a sign on the side of the drums that says radioactive-look on your video. Their is a reason they are in black drums (to keep the light out) and resealed with more plastics. #6 When your batteries drain fast, it means you have storm water pollution and to get out of the cave fast or you'll die next. Awesome video! As far as the tunneling goes, the structure and feathers at 14:20 were undoubtedly a mine shaft to the surface at one time. Pretty darn cool. As for having to live in the "hole like this" 19:44 as a fallout shelter, the reality is you would only need to be there for a couple of weeks or so. You mainly would want to be there during the initial blast. Three things kill you and a nuclear blast. One, the immense radiation in the vicinity of the explosion. That is generally unavoidable, but in that tunnel, you would be safe. Number two is the residual radiation that is very high for couple of weeks or so. When it comes radiation from that type of explosion, the very high radiation emitting atoms, tie off very quickly also. Thus after a couple weeks or so the radiation levels have been extremely reduced. The third thing is chemical poisoning. Many of the elements from the explosion are entrained in the dust/atmosphere. It would certainly be advisable to wear respiratory protection. When it comes of that anything is better than nothing. Shortly thereafter you should be able to grow food. In the meantime, you can venture into your tunnel and retrieve your supplies.Sorry for rambling on, sometimes I get that way ha ha ha I speak what I have of my mind and on my mind right now is self preservation education with respect to nuclear things. It was triggered by your find so I'm going to blame it on you how's that sound ! Anyhow have a great day!

The idea of heading into a mind shaft scares me, but I love seeing videos of people much braver than I that explore them. Amazing explore. I really liked the fallout shelter.
Explore With Us I need some help I am looking for a good Flash for night urban photography. I go in to a banded buildings at night and to Urban exploring flash photography the flash on my camera it's not enough I'm looking for a really good bright flash for my Sony A6000. If someone can help me I would very much appreciate it.
Sony makes incredible cameras for video, especially at night. How good are they at photography? How much gear do you carry with you? Might be worth bringing a few cheap LED lights and small tripods to light up the rooms. Personally, I would ditch the camera flash and just use a good tripod and long exposures. The extra noise can be corrected in post. Not sure how advanced you are with your photography. You might know more than me, and if so, please disregard. :-)
Explore With Us it is extremely good at night do you have a email or something I send you some pictures. I just got a tripod so that's is going two help a lot. I have a 3.5-5.6/18-55 and 4.5-6.3/55-210 lenses I have a cheap LED light 3M respirator pair of glovesa a backpack some personal protection form of a knife and that is it
That yellow powdery stuff one the mine walls and floor could be carnotite, and is a good indicator of uranium close by, also it's a little radioactive.
What's with all these cute little animals you find, rabbits, bats 🦇 I found a pigeon carcass on my explore and a sheep skull haha , great explore shelter looks interesting
That's not bad at all. You avoid possible danger so don't worry. I would go everywhere if i would have at least one more person with me. And a weapon. :D
You guys should look for old military bunkers! You can find maps or tales of where some are located. Many haven't been fully explored. I subscribed by the way! Awesome videos!
hello! Something i learnt off another youtuber, was if you voice echos in the tunnels then you are probably all good with falling rocks, when your voice produces less echo and sounds kind of muffled, then the rock is unstable.
I just saw a video about the guy who found a weird cave and didn't want to explore it because it vibrated when he went near it. He went back there for his RUclips channel and disappeared. Till this day no one found the cave or the man. Guys I'm worried about you ;(
Explore With Us Yes, sorry I forgot his name. Also I really enjoy your videos and keep up the good work. But please, be careful. I am always worried when I watch your videos xD
Explore With Us my father in law was stuck in a cave for 13 days and nights, with no light or food his girlfriend fell through a hole in the ground in the cave and got trapped and so did he trying to save her, and there flash lights went dead they even checked them many times before entering so BE PREPARED!my father in law and friends almost starved to death in pure darkness, a true horror story, they lost over 35 pounds they was in there long enough there dog even died, so before going in these places guys PLEASE remember this story I will never for get it. don't think it can't happen to you .
Explore With Us I wouldn't want that to happen to even my worse enemy my father in law was just going in to collect clay and didn't come out for 13 days,it took place in western Maryland in the 1970s and made it into the new York times and Baltimore sun we have thousands of mines around here if you all can ever get the funds to travel I recommend coming here to allegany county Maryland , its only 10 mins away from west Virginia state lines and 10 mins away from Pennsylvania state line, all have many many small towns, mines, abandoned buildings from hundreds of years ago the nick name is " queen city" 2 in a half hours from Washington DC, also a big part of our nations history we are home to the underground tunnels that gave many freedom and they run under our entire county including one that sites under our homestead. George Washington lived here and the French and Indian war had bases here in Cumberland Maryland , our high schools are the British vs and native Americans that's how deep our history still flows in our mountains here, you will also pass through a place called lovers leap and "the cut" lovers leap in on Indian ground now county land ,where a Indian girl and john Smith jumped off to be together and its all public land ,and it over looks our historic western Maryland rail road and C&O canel that goes all they way to our nations Capitol , since you have kids it would be a great vacation spot to explore , I dug up a entire box of old medicine bottles in one hour off the canal , and all the old canal buildings are still standing I could go on and on lol but research western Maryland/ Cumberland Maryland history we are a gem just now being discovered again, finally getting our name back ",the queen city" the place went down hill when jobs went to China, it is a place that should be known about, its one of the oldest citys on the east cost. and has so many discoverys to be discovered. for some reason the mountains scare city people but really they are missing out on something very important and special, we have roman baths in Berkeley springs wv only one hour away and there is abandoned Cassel's and Manson's there too from 1700s up , with the equipment you have I could only imagine what you are going to find that us locals never knew about
Jennie Lynn maybe that's why many police or security guards dont allow people to go inside Abandoned buildings or other places is not that they are trying to be Rude but its for our own safety and good what about if there's a serial killer hiding inside
Jazmin Ramos Why does everybody think "serial killers" are living inside of deep dark caves, or just out a few miles on a country road even, justa wainin tu jump out an getcha? They'd have to wait for years and leave no trace, or the can a day of trash modern humans generate, in the dark? How would they get enough food and vitamin D etc. or sleep or pay for it? Is it really just TV? :-] Most serial killers are in large metropolitan/urban cities.
IKR. And the whole time I'm thinking you're wrong anyway- those are likely cave in supplies. Think about it. That large nook was deliberately made for good reason that far down... Supplies.
i only subscribed yesterday and think these vids are awesome. .I watched the video of the building in the middle of nowhere Wi blooded tissues in it....hello from the u.k.
I love all your videos!!! N so happy that you make quality work and respect people’s stuff (even if it’s abandoned) to many people have videos out of “abandon homes/places and just take stuff.
I am with you, I am not sure that I would want to be stuck in that mine after a nuclear war either. I think you could be driven insane if you spent too long in there. Probably would be better to go out quickly.
Not in total darkness, of course... but what or how would people be in there without lights for so long? Hell, but if you're trying to survive, I guess anything is possible.
Karen Johansen even in a so call nice shelter the biggest worry is how long do we stay down here before we kill each other . Some build shelters and have no where to dispose a dead body that’s a big mistake
Looks like you found an illegal radioactive waste dump. Fallout shelters are areas designed to protect people from radioactive fallout after a nuclear explosion. This old mine is the exact opposite. Those dead birds were not a good sign. Keep these videos coming, they're great.
+kev's life The ones at the entrance are icicles because they are made of frozen water. I have them hanging from my roof as we speak. Stalagmites and stalactites are formed from dripping water that calcifies, or something like that. I must Google it to be certain. ;-)
If it didn't stink like sulfur, could be that radioactive "yellow cake" stuff. You really, really, really need to take a Geiger counter with you if you go into abandoned mines, especially in the Southwest.
That "yellow cake stuff" does not come out of mines like that😂. It's a concentrated powder made in the process of refining uranium ore. There is a process called 'situ leaching' where a solution is pumped through uranium ore deposits and then the "yellow cake stuff" is dried and collected. But this is not that.
My Dad worked at a place that had a fallout shelter and supplies. Years later the owner started opening the containers. My Dad got some of the stuff. In some of those they had a geiger counter and radios. I remember seeing on some of the barrels he brought home. One was toilet paper and hygiene stuff. He brought the barrels home empty to use in the garage.

I have a 3.5-5.6/18-55 and 4.5-6.3/55-210 lenses I have a cheap LED light 3M respirator pair of glovesa a backpack some personal protection form of a knife and that is it
Braver than me my friend. I would be terrified of a major collapse
Would love to find mines around my area to explore. The bats are just so adorable.
That yellow powdery stuff one the mine walls and floor could be carnotite, and is a good indicator of uranium close by, also it's a little radioactive.
Okay watching you walk through there without masks and gloves really gives me anxiety. You got to be careful with old places like this. >.
Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing
What's with all these cute little animals you find, rabbits, bats 🦇 I found a pigeon carcass on my explore and a sheep skull haha , great explore shelter looks interesting
LOL Tracy, we sure have seen a lot of cute animals lately. I am sure we will run into more snakes, spiders, etc. once it heats up again. :-)
Wow! When you turned around your friends Aura was so blue and white to me💜💜💜💙💙💙 very beautiful light!
Just subscribed. Video colors great, as is narration descriptions, not bothering wild animals, seem good person, too. Thanks.
I was expecting as you walked along you heard in the depths "hey guys it's Codys Lab"
AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! BRAVO!!!
Maybe AvE was stumbling around in one of the stopes, breaking drill bits and cursing in broken French. :D
LMFAO!!
i love how all watch the same people... i thought of cody right away too
You know I thought I saw a creeper sticking out of the wall
That was So Cool 😊 Thnx for Sharing your experiences with us 🙃
I love these videos because I'm too chicken to explore places and I'm so directionally challenged that I'd get trapped. 😂😂
Emskillet Biscuit Well, visiting places like that can become dangerous all alone. I'm big and strong like a bear but i also wouldn't go there alone. 😅
Crusader Invictus lol I mean even with someone I'd still be scared. Biggest titty baby of the year award is rightfully mine!
That's not bad at all. You avoid possible danger so don't worry. I would go everywhere if i would have at least one more person with me. And a weapon. :D
Emskillet Biscuit Thank you. :-)
Emskillet Biscuit Ha! Same! I'd be like, did I make a left or a right?! Then I'd start panicking
I just loved this video. Thanks
Scared for you guys going into those mine holes (caves) .... I keep asking myself what if a dwarf popped out , can you guys go over 90mph escaping 😄
Cool Bats hibernating. Great find guys, just one extra thing to say............................................MOAR !!!!
MOAR???
Yeh MOAR......................in joke. (see Aquachigger)
Thank you Glen, and there will be plenty MOAR to come!
Glen Pierce Hi sir glen..When are returning as omars side kick?
Hey glen pierce I know you from Omer channel:)
Thank you for posting this, great video, a dying sport,,,,,We had rock the size of a bus fall behind us in a cave, that was last time we went there.
That was very informative. Never saw the inside of a mine. Enjoy your videos very much, keep up the great job you do. Stay safe and God Bless.
Cool video guys👌
Cool video! Your awesome
Just watching you my imagination is running wild!!! I am getting so anxious! But I still continue to watch!
Dang it, I want to see what was inside those barrels.
THE BAT IS CUTE
You guys are crazy!!!! I am spooked just watching...YIKES
Beautiful video. Thanks
Stakes in the walls are to hold electrical wiring for lighting or air lines.
Aye! And those crystals are Asbestos stay away!
you guy always make us so nervous when you're in a shaft like that!
Bob: "do you think we should continue on?"
-can't hear us even if we replied-
Bob: "let's go!"
Awww those bats were proper fast asleep!! can't believe they didn't wake up 😍
You guys should look for old military bunkers!
Guys I'm worried about you ;(
No man. I'm sorry if I have to disappoint you but that man is dead. It is just unclear what he died from ;)
I think you're referring to Kenny Veach?
Explore With Us Yes, sorry I forgot his name. Also I really enjoy your videos and keep up the good work. But please, be careful. I am always worried when I watch your videos xD
Thank you Mine Jaeger, we do plan on searching for Kenny soon too. :-)
Explore With Us Just watch out and don't get yourself in danger with whatever you do! XD (I don't mean to sound like your mom by the way)
Ur vids r awesome it's like a good content documentary.
Thank you meltankie #mega! :-)
@@ExploreWithUs dude, your exploration videos were awesome. Just be careful. Don't let any fans or followers put you or your family in danger.
Awww the little bats are so cute!
Jamie Winters ...You are so cute!
Love your vids I'm binge watching!!!
Jennie Lynn, Thank you for the info.
George Washington lived here and the French and Indian war had bases here in Cumberland Maryland , our high schools are the British vs and native Americans that's how deep our history still flows in our mountains here, you will also pass through a place called lovers leap and "the cut" lovers leap in on Indian ground now county land ,where a Indian girl and john Smith jumped off to be together and its all public land ,and it over looks our historic western Maryland rail road and C&O canel that goes all they way to our nations Capitol , since you have kids it would be a great vacation spot to explore , I dug up a entire box of old medicine bottles in one hour off the canal , and all the old canal buildings are still standing I could go on and on lol but research western Maryland/ Cumberland Maryland history we are a gem just now being discovered again, finally getting our name back ",the queen city" the place went down hill when jobs went to China, it is a place that should be known about, its one of the oldest citys on the east cost. and has so many discoverys to be discovered. for some reason the mountains scare city people but really they are missing out on something very important and special, we have roman baths in Berkeley springs wv only one hour away and there is abandoned Cassel's and Manson's there too from 1700s up , with the equipment you have I could only imagine what you are going to find that us locals never knew about
Jennie Lynn
maybe that's why many police or security guards dont allow people to go inside Abandoned buildings or other places is not that they are trying to be Rude but its for our own safety and good what about if there's a serial killer hiding inside
That's a gnarly story, you should upload him telling it.
Take a drink every time he says “fall out shelter”
Maybe that insect on the wall is called a "Cave Bug"...? hehe
IKR. And the whole time I'm thinking you're wrong anyway- those are likely cave in supplies. Think about it.
That large nook was deliberately made for good reason that far down... Supplies.
Quarters!
i only subscribed yesterday and think these vids are awesome. .I watched the video of the building in the middle of nowhere Wi blooded tissues in it....hello from the u.k.
Thank you for the support gav hinds, it means a lot to me. :-)
Your restraint is impressive
Awesome vid man keep it up
I love all your videos!!!
I know you made it okay, but it looks a bit dangerous to me. Be careful!!!
I am totally shocked at you NOT finding a few corpses or skeleton remains. LOL
Cool video for sure! Kinda reminded me of playing a video game. Hehe!
Great video!
wooden pins (or iron) ...was used for hanging electrical wires for lighting ect ect.
Tate Shugart, Thank you for the info. :-)
why didn't I find this channel earlier? I have so much to watch.
Very Dangerous going in a cave during winter because the grounds alot wetter and more like to collapse ...
Very Cool Adventure!!!
What a great video.
You guys are gutsy people.i am worried from my living room watching this.
Keep up the good work
5:41 is the unexpected part.
Your welcome
One thing about these explorers they are finding the best locations if the s*** hits the fan I'm jealous
also the fallout shelter supplies are emergency supplies for the miners incase there was a cave in
They're pretty close to the entrance. What good would they do if the cave in was further in the mine
Looks like you found an illegal radioactive waste dump. Fallout shelters are areas designed to protect people from radioactive fallout after a nuclear explosion. This old mine is the exact opposite. Those dead birds were not a good sign. Keep these videos coming, they're great.
Nice tour of a mine.
16:40 I think I saw something ahead like a glowing eye
Nozza Games ......I think that was their light shining on something ahead.
Nozza Games .......It's super bright at 18:10
thats the end of the tunnel
who wants to make a bet that there is peanut butter
David Hendrickson LoL and coffee
LOL
David Hendrickson bullshit. its cake!!
I would bet there is coffee!
OLD peanut butter and coffee
"I wonder how thick the icicles are" goes for the thinnest one
Chris Watkins they're stalagmites and stalactites not icicles
+kev's life
The ones at the entrance are icicles because they are made of frozen water. I have them hanging from my roof as we speak. Stalagmites and stalactites are formed from dripping water that calcifies, or something like that. I must Google it to be certain. ;-)
Sharon G I thought he meant ones inside. you are correct though :-)
d fernandez icicles can be made overnight.
Cool explore and I like the video. Be careful when exploring but have fun 🤟
Nice vids man, and your camera is really good 👌🏻
RC OnBoard Thank you. :-)
You have balls of diamonds. I wouldn't go in a abandoned mine for nothing
Me either! I get a tight gut just watching this and anything to do with heights. Hate both. I'm in trouble then ( the rapture)
If it didn't stink like sulfur, could be that radioactive "yellow cake" stuff. You really, really, really need to take a Geiger counter with you if you go into abandoned mines, especially in the Southwest.
Yellow cake is made from processing ore, it is not found naturally in mines.
@@maryhudson9715 I think I remember learning in school that they dumped nuclear waste in mines sometimes
The yellow powder could be a sulphuric salt
My claustrophobia was building the deeper you went! I kept checking to see how much of the video was left.
