The most impressive thing is someone your age knowing how to use both power and hand tools with that level of craftsmanship! Well done...VERY well done!.
Really beautiful work. You have a tremendous amount of patience and show beautiful craftsmanship and care for the instrument as you built it. Congratulations.
I honestly did not like the shape and aspect of the bass but I admire your fine craftmanship... My most sincere words of respect for you, please keep building basses.
You sir, deserve an award! When I saw you pull out that draw knife, I knew this was going to be a masterpiece. You did not disappoint me! That was epic!
Very nicely made. Some of your old tools were very interesting. I made a bass guitar when I was a schoolboy 52 years ago, in about three months, but it wasn't as good-looking as yours. It got me into three separate bands at the same time, and I soon learned how to play it. Do the same. :)
I really like how you blended the violin-type shapes with the bass. The amount of hand tool work is amazing. Hopefully you have gone on to make guitars & basses professionally!
Absolutely amazing & beautiful Bass build! One of the best that I have seen. Talk about "handcrafted", this ones for real. Now you have got to learn how to play that gorgeous instrument! Great video....Steve
I am really impressed with how much of the work you did with hand tools. You really did end up with a beautiful instrument. Once you have learned to play, do a demo. I would really like to hear it. Thanks.
Absolutely amazing work! But I am dying to know how you carved the body of that bass (during the non documented week of work)!!! I am trying to figure out why the edge was routed first, and how it ended up being the thicker part when the rest became arched. (not doubting your methods by any means, just... amazed) Again, absolutely incredible!
That was beautiful! I would love to have a bass like that one day, it is my dream to build a bass but I lack the tools and know-how. But i am inspired none the less! That is quality at it's peak.
that's some really awesome craftsmanship... I'm normally not one for a violin like body... but that is one nice fretless!! looks like you could bow it... but shred metal at the same time!
Great ! Thanks for the video. I made a bass body and bought the bass neck , but I have to make my own, maybe I'll use padouk or hard maple..I need tools too!
You have made a beautiful bass there. Was that one piece of (I'm guessing just from the tight butter-like carvability of the grain) Basswood/Linden? Thanks for making this mini documentary on it. I'm done buying basses, and the next one will be one I make. Cheers.
This is really a great job. But what about the bass in action? Just wonder what this one might feel like in your hand, i.e., the comfort of playing it.
Hi. Gorgeous work. Gorgeous idea. Gorgeous instrument. Stradivari Jazz Bass. You can ask some good bass player to make a sound sample for you. If you know one indeed.

skvela prace chlape :)... celou dobu jsem mel usta dokoran :).. opravdu nadhera :)
Awesome craftsmanship! But if you're going to put that much work into an instrument you should use a harder wood for the neck... How has it held up so far?
Thats beautiful work there. And I love the fact that you used a lot of hand-tools over machine. (Granted some cant be avoided) It looks great, and I am sure if you put as much effort and skill into learning and playing, as you did building this, you are sure to be a great bassist.

Thats beautiful work there. And I love the fact that you used a lot of hand-tools over machine. (Granted some cant be avoided) It looks great, and I am sure if you put as much effort and skill into learning and playing, as you did building this, you are sure to be a great bassist.
