- This week we take a look at one of the best subtropical gardens I have ever visited. Step into a subtropical paradise crafted by Ann and Graham Thomson. Forming the name of the garden An-Gra-Son. The garden is located in Waiuku, Auckland, New Zealand.
Once a dairy farm, this 2.3-hectare property now boasts approximately 2.5 acres of lush gardens, full of vibrant bromeliads, palms, vireya rhododendrons, and stunning water features. From cascading waterfalls to charming ornaments and native birdsong, every corner reflects passion and creativity. Twenty-two years ago there it was nothing more than a paddock and now it is a beautiful subtropical garden. Don’t miss the clever use of natural materials like rocks, and carved wooden birds that bring this tropical oasis to life.
