It's ironic that a revolt that mainly began in the southeren cities eventually ended with the nothern cities getting independence and the southern cities being held by the spanish crown. Also I'm Belgian and it's really sad to have this history thaught to you completely via the protestant lens in school.
Why do they teach the protestant lens in Belgian schools? I thought Belgium was a more catholic country.

The Dutch Revolt is such an interesting conflict with indeed many protestants legends and myth although I cannot help myself but think that you overcorrected this a bit. The Inquisition that Phillip II upheld was very brutal and you seem to give much weight to the conspiracy theories of Spanish informers

this is all about banking and shipping. the money lenders moving their operations to the Nederlands as a base of operation and then eventually to England a better location for Atlantic trade .

Min 7,13 in the chart the spanish territories are lacking of Milan Ducate, north Italy...conquered after the italian wars between France and the spanish empire...Min 19,21 are sacred and beautiful expensive and sophisticated objects that avert money from the solidarity towards the poors?
