In this episode I head out kayak fishing the upper gulf coast for flounder. I fished this rock jetty for flounder and almost instantly started hooking on these fish with one of the best baits for flounder the Hoodwink! From sout side houston area. PB flounder is 27.5 inches. Thought I had hooked a piece of trash. Biggest flounder I have ever seen. Caught in galveston channel.

My PB Flounder is 23" caught at Surfside Jetties from land in Freeport, TX. And I am from Katy, TX. Caught it on a live shrimp under a slip cork.

From Clearlake , Texas. My P.B. was a 28.3" doormat caught in Seabrook, Texas. Choice of lure? Buggs lure, works fantastic for flounder, and everything else. Tight lines never stop!

I live in Suffolk, Va. My PB Flounder was 22.5'' caught at Kiptopeke Beach on the eastern Shore of Va. Used a lead head and Gulp.

My PB flounder I didn’t measure. But I had it weighed at the bait camp as I was close by. Weighed in at 7.6lbs. Was an absolute beast.

Those flat fish get me casting every time I get to go to Florida now . Family at the beach an I'm scouting rocks an grass just to catch one. Kinda like hunting looking for that big one. When I finally catch one I think I just got a big buck . Respect from Readyville Tn! God Bless be safe.

Shark fest in St. George last week off beach. They were catching some Matt s around Sikes pass. Not me. I wouldn't even go in that dirty water . Saw too many fins close to beach. Big sandbars an blacktops.
In Florida now. But from NE. We call those Fluke. Flounder run smaller with smaller mouths in colder temps

I'd love for you to do a "seminar" style vid on the types of areas and depths you look for to locate flounder. I'm based out of Charleston SC so our estuary is a little different than yall's but any information would be wonderful! I mostly catch trout and flounder are by-catch for me but they are my FAVORITE fish to eat. My PB Flounder is 18" out of Charleston on a finger mullet.

Our flounder fishery is strict and has been many years now. Pretty much flounder season is open only 2 weeks out of the year for rec. Fishing. And if I remember correctly, minum size is 16" or 17" and no slot. Many are caught here bigger than that every year. Mostly in the late summer and fall times.
And as of now, you don't have a 2024 Flounder Season, in North Carolina.

I've learned a thing or two watching your videos, thanks! Just started kayak fishing Dauphin Island a couple years ago. My biggest to date was right under the ferry dock, don't remember exact length but close to the size of the big one on this video.

I make a jig head specific for flounder with a khale hook.. heard you saying you missed a few and you were lucky to catch one as the point of your hook never penetrated.. these heads would up your game.. pb flounder 30 1/2 inches .. came out to 13.9 pounds.. ft pierce fl

It's just the jig head.. has a khale hook.. use whatever soft plastic you prefer.. are you the author of tge video?
I'm from Bay City Texas. Home waters is Matagorda Tx. Biggest flounder I've caught was 28 1/4 inches. But we catch 24-26 inchers all the time. Best kept secret in Texas. I fish the same style as yourself. But, all my big flounder came from walking the banks with a rod and reel. I always pack light because most of the time it's super easy to get your limit. I have spots that you can film on. Come get some of this action

I fish in New Smyrna Beach, pb flounder is only 16" I haven't ever been good at flounder fishing but I'm great at sheepshead fishing 😎

I l-o-v-e flounder! I've never caught one, but it looks like fun! I'm curious as to how you prepare your flounder? Oh! BTW - I'm from Central Florida. St John's River, Haulover Canaĺ, Intercoastal waterways were some of our home stompin' grounds. Shrimping was absolutely a fun thing to do, if you can stay warm during the nìght! 😁

Great catching and video, but the hooks on your jig heads seem to be dull as a butter knife. Lots of lost and barely hooked fish due to no hook penetration. I’m still jealous of all those flounder though!
Well they’re are BKK 3/0 hooks that we use and they’re definitely not dull. That’s just part of flounder fishing

SE Louisiana kayak fisherman here - flounder have not been that easy to find. Best day I've had was 4 flounder mixed with reds and specks. I've never caught one bigger than about 18% - Louisiana allows 10 of any size.

Easiest way to catch your flounder limit is move to NC. You can do it from the couch. Corrupt commercial Influence has ruined our fishery.
