The history of this house is actually fairly murky. No history can be found on the original owners other then they were forced out due too eminent domain. There is speculation of a birthday party where the family mysteriously all fell ill and then essentially disappeared but I’ve found no news articles too back that up. I lived in a house I Altus Ark.that had a big 2 room basement that you could hear foot steps in when you were alone in there it was a three bed room one bath house.
The drop ceilings are added usually to keep heating and cooling costs down and an easier way to add modern wiring without having to deal with plaster ceilings. They are an eyesore but it’s also understandable for a quick fix. Especially since most homes like this are now in less desirable locations and lower income families usually inhabit them before their demise.
I always feel so sorry for these old beautiful houses. Just left to rot away. So glad I was able to save one, my 1916 farmhouse from the same fate. Been here for 29 years now. And have loved every minute of all the work it has taken us to save her. And I know that she is so happy we did.
Yes, my son restored a 1906 Gregorian style home with a few.people helping. Pocket doors, beautiful wooden floors restored to its old glory, stain glass windows, a huge front doorway, 3 floors with a balcony on the 2nd, huge kitchen, staircase for help to use, a claw foot tub restored like new, fireplaces in each room restored...etc. I am so comfortable in the house when I visit. The old owners have to be smiling to see their home restored.
This old girl's original beauty still peeks through despite the tacky office and museum remodel inside. Lovely newel post, beautiful turret rooms, upscale hardware, spooky basement, and I love the old bench on the stair landing. Those specimens at the end--wasn't expecting that! 😳 🤣. That building has a million stories. When I was in college at VCU the university had taken over so many old homes as the campus grew. The department for my major was this awesome old house and one of my professors had an office you had the climb up and through and all around and it was in a weird space under the eaves. This was in the 80s. There are still some there but some are gone. Awesome video. ❤️

Glad to see that's the only kind of body parts you found while there. 😁 I love seeing the antique features of this house - the updating not so much. There was an attic door in the bathroom upstairs, and a little more that stairway going downstairs was giving out-very dangerous. Anytime you're in those old houses and you can shut a window or block it, it would keep the rain out. And to think this house is going to be torn down just doesn't make any sense to me.

The "INCA" boxes in the basement are a computer game (I think) from 1985-1993 made by the Coktel Vision Company but I'm not a gamer so don't know anything else about this. It’s frustrating when someone off-camera speaks to you and it’s muffled and unintelligible. Kappy, that house **moves sooo beautifully inside, and is a gorgeous exterior home as well ! Wow! If the foundation is not too compromised (mold, rot, roof and foundation destruction), would love (fantasy, obviously) to just reinforce and revitalize everything, do a fresh and warm- hued paint, etc., and leave rooms **uncluttered. Whatever/whomever the company that had that house last , were completely indifferent to its beauty ,that commercial, cheap **ceiling , appliances in the kitchen - yccch. Many of your videos make me sad and frustrated, as I know this place is headed for the dumpster. Homes, like people, have a kind of karma, and a mystical allotment of protection - or not.
Karen Stanislaw. As far as the flow of this hose is concerned, you can’t see the forest for the trees. Every item that is or original to the house would have to be removed, including the window covers. The house is so chopped up with cheap panels and miscellaneous crap that you can hardly see the Grace of the house. Your talking hundreds of thousands. There are tons of beautiful homes for sale in the US in excellent shape for excellent prices!

This is a wonderful old house. I would have liked to have seen what the ceiling look like under the drop ceiling. I bet you there were some nice medallions. I loved the benches on the stairs, and it looks like the whole place would’ve been a wonderful to live in! Nice explore! Take care!
My mom stripped all the woodwork that had been painted in the house I grew up in. It took her years. She would visibly look sick every time she saw painted woodwork. lol

man! Modern refinements have, over time, removed all character from this massive Queen Ann. But somebody has put in protective measures to keep the elements out, which helped preserve it thse 20 yrs vacant. Will read on and see what history is shared. Gosh, that large dark wood framed long glass showcase would cost us $1500 more or less in an antique shop. In fact, its best use would be IN an antique store showing jewelry & artifacts needing protection. Nice job. Thanks to you adventurous explorers taking the time & effort of filming these places. I understand it takes hours and hours sometimes in just the editing process, so I appreciate your output even more. Thank you!! We love this stuff.
What's really sad is that this house seems to be in the "good bones" category. It's likely not so far gone that it couldn't be moved and restored, or at least given a makeover true to the era. It looks like it could be a George Barber design with that tower roof line jutting out behind the main tower. Such a shame.
Razorfriendly Moved and restored???? Can you begin to fathom the cost of that? It would cost millions and there’s water damage. There are thousands of historical homes in good shape for sale in the US. as d amazing deals to be had. I hate what they did to this house. You can’t see the actual rooms for the office crap and other junk!!!
I had a friend that was renting a home similar to this one. There was no original basement. However an additional room was added on. This addition did have a basement. Where the 2 buildings joined the old house was built on flagstone walls. There was no cement. This home had 2 and 1/2 floors. It was amazing how they incorporated bathrooms, kitchen plumbing and created another small apartment above the garage. It was amazing !!!!

Yay, I've been waiting for this one from the previews on your other uploads. It didn't disappoint! The architecture is what I noticed from your previews, the spooky backstory was the cherry on top. I could feel the sinister nature of the place as soon as you walked in. But once upon a time it was a fairytale castle. That is one of the prettiest staircases you've found, I don't think I've ever seen a mirrored newel post before. The ceiling treatments on the third story were so elegant and the light from all the windows was amazing. So sad it suffered such a horrible fate in the end, I'm so glad you captured it for posterity. Thanks Kappy, and Hi Ruby! Take care you two
the mirror inserts on the newel post must have been put in to replace stained glass panes. It may have even had an electric feed to give soft illumination.

Your videos are superb! I have always been fascinated with the architecture of older homes, especially Victorian era homes. I am not a ghost hunter, but sometimes I will see something in videos on RUclips that are images and, honestly, I do not look for that sort of thing. At 0:16, the image of half that mannequin on a table in one of office rooms facing the window made me think it was something other-worldly looking out at you as you filmed the outside of the house...LOL!

This explore you can tell your friends "Yeah, it was really creepy, there were body parts everywhere" !!! You wouldn't be lying, that's for sure !!! I think one of the reasons this was in fairly decent shape was because the business was there so the house was kept warm and cared about for a while anyway. Fantastic house.

Community College in Pittsburgh started out in the old mansions on the North Side. I loved being able to explore them as I went to classes.

This is a wonderful old house. I would have liked to have seen what the ceiling look like under the drop ceiling. I bet you there were some nice medallions. I loved the benches on the stairs, and it looks like the whole place would’ve been a wonderful to live in! Nice explore! Take care!

My mom stripped all the woodwork that had been painted in the house I grew up in. It took her years. She would visibly look sick every time she saw painted woodwork. lol

man! Modern refinements have, over time, removed all character from this massive Queen Ann.
But somebody has put in protective measures to keep the elements out, which helped preserve it thse 20 yrs vacant. Will read on and see what history is shared. Gosh, that large dark wood framed long glass showcase would cost us $1500 more or less in an antique shop. In fact, its best use would be IN an antique store showing jewelry & artifacts needing protection.

What's really sad is that this house seems to be in the "good bones" category. It's likely not so far gone that it couldn't be moved and restored, or at least given a makeover true to the era. It looks like it could be a George Barber design with that tower roof line jutting out behind the main tower. Such a shame.
Razorfriendly Moved and restored???? Can you begin to fathom the cost of that? It would cost millions and there’s water damage. There are thousands of historical homes in good shape for sale in the US. as d amazing deals to be had. I hate what they did to this house. You can’t see the actual rooms for the office crap and other junk!!!

I had a friend that was renting a home similar to this one. There was no original basement. However an additional room was added on. This addition did have a basement.
Where the 2 buildings joined the old house was built on flagstone walls. There was no cement. This home had 2 and 1/2 floors. It was amazing how they incorporated bathrooms, kitchen plumbing and created another small apartment above the garage. It was amazing !!!!

Yay, I've been waiting for this one from the previews on your other uploads. It didn't disappoint! The architecture is what I noticed from your previews, the spooky backstory was the cherry on top. I could feel the sinister nature of the place as soon as you walked in. But once upon a time it was a fairytale castle. That is one of the prettiest staircases you've found, I don't think I've ever seen a mirrored newel post before. The ceiling treatments on the third story were so elegant and the light from all the windows was amazing. So sad it suffered such a horrible fate in the end, I'm so glad you captured it for posterity. Thanks Kappy, and Hi Ruby! Take care you two

the mirror inserts on the newel post must have been put in to replace stained glass panes. It may have even had an electric feed to give soft illumination.

Your videos are superb! I have always been fascinated with the architecture of older homes, especially Victorian era homes. I am not a ghost hunter, but sometimes I will see something in videos on RUclips that are images and, honestly, I do not look for that sort of thing. At 0:16, the image of half that mannequin on a table in one of office rooms facing the window made me think it was something other-worldly looking out at you as you filmed the outside of the house...LOL!

Hi Kappy Just saying, Love to have the blue print on this beautiful place, and the barn too! It took years to make these excellent charming , even the places near it.But too sad it became offices, All I can think of is paint stripping taking the lowered ceilings out, redoing the floors to original glory,Putting some fireplaces in,Keep central heat and air, Taking the mirrors off the knoll posts😅👍On and on ha! This explore you can tell your friends "Yeah, it was really creepy, there were body parts everywhere" !!! You wouldn't be lying, that's for sure !!! I think one of the reasons this was in fairly decent shape was because the business was there so the house was kept warm and cared about for a while anyway. Fantastic house.
