I saw that some folks have suggested you movies like 'kal ho na ho', 'taare jameen par', 'drishyam (hindi version)', 'pk', 'bajirao mastani' etc. yes go for these movies first so that it will give you more insight into bollywood and you will also enjoy them.

This movie is just an entertainer , the plot and screenplay isn't strong enough although it was a box office success because of SRK. But do watch "Kal ho na ho" and "Swadesh" these are just awesome movies 👌🏼 Keep the good work going ! 😊
The movie has too much of cultural references which a newcomer may not understand properly. I recommend if you watch this movie then do it may be after 3-4 years when you have better command on Indian stuff. But you are right, it is a fun, over the top comedy-action-musical-drama movie

Yes we were reading subtitles, but they were computer generated by RUclips, so they didn't make much sense. The problem we are beginning to experience is the culture gap. We go in cold watching these trailers, so we can give an honest reaction. We give our impressions based what is presented and how the movie is being marketed. Sometimes our reactions end up being not what is expected. We do not do research on the movie's before hand, because it's not what westerners do. Who has the time for that? If the trailer presents a movie as a comedy, but ends up being a drama, our reactions become inappropriate for the movie and viewers get offended. Our goal is to get more Americans to watch these movies, but if viewers get offended, then they should realize that's how the West is going to perceive the film. Our intention is not to offend, but to give honest reactions. We did a trailer reaction to Padman and had to take it down, because it offended so many people. It was presented as a comedy, but ended up as a light hearted drama. The comments were vulgar and stated that we need to do research before hand. Kelly was really upset and we almost decided to abandon the project. We really like these films. Most ate much better than what the West is making. I would hate to stop doing Hindi movie reactions, just because of a misunderstanding.

It makes sense to us bcz we already know abt the movie's content much before the release as theres always buzz in media. For u its brand new without any context. Its a general habit here to do a basic 5 mins research before watching anything so that we dont end up wasting time. Neither of us are wrong, just different. Americans have been well off and advanced since decades so movies like 'Padman' might amuse u at the 1st look but thats a pretty serious issue for Indians bcz 80% women dont use snaitary pads. They cant afford or r not aware. If u do basic research, u can avoid reacting to region specific movies bcz theres no way u will comprehend it in the desired manner. Do universal subjects. No one will be offended. Hope i am making sense !
