George Harrison (Beatles), Jeff Lynne (E.L.O.), Bob Dylan, Tom Petty (Heartbreakers), Roy Orbison (Best Voice in Rock and Roll), and Jim Keltner (Legendary session drummer). What a super group. This, and all of the other songs on the album were written and at least the vocals recorded, in one day each.
I can't tell you how much my soul dies when I see a kid reacting to the Wilbury's and they don't know a single member of the group, or understand just how earth shaking the formation of this super group was.
@@DerekScottBland , I agree one hundred percent. As opposed to simply feeling *old* the first time I heard Pink Floyd coming from an elevator's speakers.
Love the story of how the Wilburys came about. George Harrison wanted a song for a B side so he asked his mates to help him come up with something. Being George Harrison, his mates were Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison. The track they came up with was Handle With Care and they decided it was too good to just be a B side, and they'd had a blast recording it so they decided to do a whole album.
I like to compare this group to a bunch of retired mechanics getting together to restore an old car, doing it just for the enjoyment and fun. All of these guys have had great careers but got together to have a little fun.
This has to be the #1 super group of all time ! How many of them are not in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ? Yes It's alright when you have millions ! Great Band =)
The Traveling Wilburys (sometimes shortened to the Wilburys) were a British-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
Darling , a Beatle !!!! The leader of ELO , Bob Dylan !!! Tom Petty !!! A true million dollar band , and Roy Orbison , in picture with his spirit rocking the chair !!!
This came out in 1988, yes it is that old. Of the 5 Travelling Wilburys plus the drummer the only people that are left are Jeff Lynn of Electric Light Orchestra, Bob Dylan, look him up on RUclips. Roy Orbison, George Harrison, and Tom Petty have passed away. Look these legends up you will be amazed who they are.
5:09 - You can tell by her lack of reaction to this part of the video that she's too young to understand the significance of that rocking chair with only Roy's guitar
Age isn’t a factor, probably knowledge of the band, my gran introduced me too Roy Orbison and George Harrison and the others gradually came along with it, I heard this song actually maybe a year ago and I saw Roy’s chair and that brought a tear to my eye, I’m only 25
@@oliverelphick2450 You were lucky to have a relative like that, or a friend or whoever, familiar with the artists of that era to explain it to you. Most folks under 40 that I've shown it to miss that symbolism, simply because it's wayyyyyy before their time.
@@bradleywest4870 Yes. All was saying to some of the other commentors is if they were born well after the death of Orbison, you really can't blame if they didn't get the significance of the empty chair.

Bieber? Everyone makes mistakes..jkjk, I totally agree this is a legendary band, with the best singers…. a song similar, is My Back Pages, on the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary concert… six legends, backed up by other famous guitarists(Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Eric Clapton , and George Harrison)..amazing stage!
I get the sense that saying the names of these musicians means as much to our reactor, here, as if you were rattling off a list of dinosaur names; stegosaurus, ceratosaurus, pterodactyl, dilophosaurus, triceratops. If you're not a millennial, you're prehistoric.
Well, it's alright, even when push comes to shove Well, it's alright, if you got someone to love Well, it's alright, everything'll work out fine Well, it's alright, we're going to the end of the line….
Nice reaction. I hope you react to "Handle With Care" from The Traveling Wilburys; as well as solo tracks from them like "Got My Mind Set On You" by George Harrison, "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty, and both "You Got It" and "She's a Mystery to Me" by Roy Orbison.
Thanks so much Girl -- glad you finally have seen the "Wilburys" - I would not call them "country" myself.. more like "rock-country, folk?" -- nevertheless I'm sure you will find out the history of the band... missing Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty these days - but still have Jeff Lynne (brilliant singer and musician) and Bob Dylan (okay, good songwriter.. lol) - Hope you will listen to more by them - I really do appreciate your comments... also.. gimme some Queen, right? lol
Jees. I like Justin Bieber better than country music. This is acoustic rock. You have George Harrison, formerly of the Beatles. They did some country parody songs, usually with Ringo singing but no one would consider them country. Bob Dylan, considered by many as the poet master of the sixties. I liked him better as a song and dance man. He dabbled with a country sound a little but not on any of his fifty or so hits. Tom Petty was not country, although he and his band did back Johnny Cash on an album. Jeff Lynne from Electric Light Orchestra was classical influenced Rock. Roy Orbison was a Rocker crooner from the sixties who had Elvis worried at one point. He though Roy was the only one who could rival him singing. Wilburys - Handle with Care. Harrison - My Sweet Lord. Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues. Tom Petty - Don't Come Around Here No More. Electric Light Orchestra - Roll Over Beethoven. Roy - Oh Pretty Woman.
I wonder if these guys had some inkling that they were travelling to the 'end of the line'? Roy Orbison, George Harrison and then Tom Petty. And a somber reminder/tribute to Roy Orbison, with a guitar rocking on a rocking chair (he died shortly after recording this and before the video was made). The best Christmas song (seldom played now a-days) is "Merry Christmas Baby" by Charles Brown.
The best super group. 👌 If you listen to each of their solo albums. You will able to tell who is playing what and each others contribution in each wilbury song.
Hi there. You could take 5 minutes before the reaction just to understand who's who. I don't know if the name Bob Dylan or George Harrison ,ex Beatles tells you anything ✌take care
Two Christmas songs I'd suggest... Mary Did You Know (a new Home Free cover) and O Holy Night (an older Home free cover). You did their cover of Ring of Fire. As for this one... Roy Orbison recorded this as he was in the group before he died. The video was shot after his death and they put a picture of him on a table and also put his guitar in the rocking chair. (not to bring you down with that.. but what respect and honor to include him in the video). PS Home Free has two Christmas albums with most if not all the songs on them having videos and SOME of them are even country .
Sad that someone doing reactions to music doesn’t recognise even just one of a collection of some of the most famous and important musicians of our time and era, I thought they were pretty recognisable to even someone with a passing knowledge of music…like me😂. I suppose it’s our age but more to the point, these are incredibly talented people coming together to make music…no poor artists made to appear good by technology. Sad also we’ve lost so many.
I like your finger snaps and I can see why you think it's country, but all of the Wilburys were great Rock song writers. George Harrison the Beatles, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, Jeff Lynne Electric Light Orchestra and Bob Dylan. Thanks sister I am subbing now, do more of this band and could you do Dixie Chicken by Little Feat, album of same name 1973 , southern rock. Keep rocking brothers and sisters ✌️🤘 Brother Gary 👓
Christmas music got 2 to try, Dropkick Murphys , ‘Tis The Season official video. Number 2 a very old country Christmas song that was a huge hit many many years ago in the USA, Grandma Got Run over By A Reindeer Happy Holidays! Stay Safe Rock On!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I know why Petty didnt have his turn with the main chorus (because he had the bridge parts) but still cant understand why DYLAN never joined in taking his turn....did he have something against the band or vice-versa??
If you did like this video, just a little bit, I would recommend that you'd listen to the album Carolus Rex in full. The original, swedish that is, is the best by a country mile. Sabaton also did it in english, but give the original a try and you'll won't regret it.
Great Reaction, Old skool reaction at that :D - Add those mega names to the video tags I added to my other comment all super relevant tags to get your video found ;) ; Much Love
It is so sad that Roy Orbison Tom Petty George Harrison I think Paul Lynn as well they're now gone from this group so all those fingers were really good together
Wow. I shouldn’t be offended, but it hurts me that you’re oblivious to five of my all-time favorite artists. But your energy is positive and I shouldn’t fault you for being young. The music I grew up with and have enjoyed all my life is ancient history to you. All things must pass.
Some great talent in this super group. Great reacton Your biggest fan I put some funny Christmas suggestions in an earlier post let me know if you need a repost of them
Roy Orbison died after the recording. That’s why the guitar was in the chair while he sang his part. Showed his picture also
It's amazing how people can do a reaction and and not realize the enormous amount of talent in that band.
My feelings exactly.
I had to watch it to the end--I can't believe she didn't know who these men were---
someone please tell her, but then again she's probably never heard of them 😢
Too true. Also too sad that she doesn't know who they are@@madison4ever1

Jim Keltner on the drums, in the audio and in the video.

The chair rocking fleas for Roy Orbison who died before the video was filmed but it's his voice while chair rocking
AND his photo in a frame on the table after they show the Rocking chair with Roy's guitar sitting in it.
The Wilbury documentary .. it’s soooo cool.😊

Interesting how nobody ever recognizes Beatle George.
