Yes 🙌🏽 when this came out…I cried so much because everything in the lyrics are so true. My grandparents raised me and I’m so grateful to all they taught me. May the Holy Spirit protect and ease your transition with your earthly father. Be blessed and encouraged. I found SB19 just before the pandemic and they got me through depression and stress during that time, I’ve been a fan ever since. Im Indigenous Native American and every culture seems to have a deep respect and appreciation for all that parents endured for our sake.

In what I underwent, I am thankful I had loving parents, and as we moved abroad, we still managed then to talk occasionally by phone and on some occasions they visit us or we visit them. Then on the last phase of their lives, as painful as it was, it was a great privelege to be with them. It is indeed so hard witnessing parents getting sick and all we can do is reassure them and comfort them as they go. Not everyone has parents to guide them..some may have other people who act as their guide like parents, and this song evokes that sense of love and gratitude. When I finally told him it’s okay to let go and that we’ll be okay, it’s like that gave him ‘permission’ to let go. I miss him very much, but glad/hope he’s in a better place. One of our most favorite of SB19's songs is this, "MAPA". It's Pablo's genius at work here. It's actually a wordplay of "map" (in Tagalog, "mapa", so in the music video it's a map showing), it's also a combination of "Ma" (mother) and "Pa" (father). Also there's mention of words "mata" (eyes) and "paa" (feet). It's a touching and heartfelt message of a child to his/her parents, expressing gratitude for all the sacrifices made by them, for putting their children's welfare first ahead of themselves, and also for the good advice that will serve as guide wherever fate will bring the child so he/she will never be lost.
