love your asmr! merry christmas!! personally i am very lucky and my mom loves advent calendars so last year she made me+my partner an advent calendar comprised of all these cute ornaments she found. a mix of thrifting (antiquing and consignment have way better stuff although maybe higher prices, thrifts like Goodwill usually have the most generic Xmas stuff and good stuff goes fast)(also estate sales can be REALLY GOOD and usually cheap), small shops, art markets, handmade and homemade. this year she got me an embroidery kit to make felt ornaments, very cute. i'm not sure what kind of shops are around you but maybe if you can find a handful of ornaments with more character, and then supplement with a color-scheme of simple baubles and ribbons! and then over time you can build up the more 'special' ornaments but not have to start with a sad tree either. happy decorating :)
