I LOVE doing this stuff! Be well.😊💕

Mama used the cheap stuff, so I did too, for many years. I made the mistake of reading the ingredients. At that time one of the things was coal tar! So I worked real vanilla into my food budget. Last fall I needed to buy some and it had fallen out of what I was willing to pay. Finding vanilla beans in our rural community that didn't require taking out a second mortgage was impossible. I don't know where they got them, but Wal Mart was selling 2 for $14.??. I bit the bullet and bought them. I started them in vodka about a month ago. Shaking every few days. Still doesn't look like much, but I took the lid off and smelled of it, not expecting anything but a whiff of alcohol. Oh...My!!!! If those cheap, dry, shriveled up beans do this good, I'm asking for vanilla beans for my birthday. This is so far beyond store bought real vanilla, it shouldn't even be called by the same name 💞

Hello my favorite homestead teacher! Two seasons ago, we bought a bunch of Ranier and Bing cherries (organic of course), then water bath canned them. Sadly, after doing so, I discovered that the cooking drastically changed the taste of them, and I just don't care for them now. I'm trying to think of other good things to do with them. They have been canned in a very light syrup if that matters. I was thinking of pureeing them to use with my fermented drinks, but since I really don't bake goodies, I'm stumped for any other ideas. The extracts seem like a good use, but they are not dry obviously. Your thoughts for what to do with them other than drinks? Thanks!

The ones that I find online seem to all be made in the same place in China, and cannot be guaranteed to be lead-free, and the reviews go on and on about broken, missing, and low-quality parts.
