I do miss this era in shoes; however, I’m not sure if it’s a lack of effort on Nike’s part or just styles changing. I hope to purchase these (not really a sneakerhead anymore so I don’t know if these will sell out instantly especially at their price point!) but, in my opinion, shoes like this with loud colors just aren’t in style and ultimately they’re basketball shoes made for performance use. The LeBron 9s originally released in 2012(?), so the nostalgia aspect is enough for me but I don’t think these shoes would appeal to a 12 year old now. The only reason Kobe retros are hard to get is because of his passing, but if he were still here, they would sit on shelves realistically. Ultimately performance basketball shoes are made for sport and if Nike gets some sales based on their looks, then I’m sure they’re happy but likely they don’t care because they’re a multi billion dollar corporation with money to waste.
One of the most nostalgic times in sneakers for me, even tho I was never able to get a pair of anything from the galaxy pack, this original releases was truly something special, I don’t think I’ve ever felt like that about a shoe I never actually owned
Hey Guys. The Nike LeBron 9 is back, but this time with a Big Bang. Ba dum dum... Let us know if you have any fond memories of any of the All Star releases back in 2012 down below. This time you can take us on a trip down memory lane. Thanks for watching!
@@hopefulelectlionzdenofyash8987 the 2s should be coming back this year. But it make sense business wise, bron7-10 where the brand best years. So Nike figures these should be a easy sell
8th grade in 2012 still remember how crazy I was for shoes that year. LeBron 9s are easy my favorite shoe. Kobe 8s too. Went crazy for those 😭 nostalgic feeling seeing the LeBron’s come back when I could never get them back in 2012🤞🏻
This is the shoe that started it all for me. This era for Nike Basketball was the golden age in my opinion (I am younger, only 22). God I love these and all the others in the galaxy pack!!!
2012 was one of the peaks of the sneaker game. The releases then were just insane. Nike really put some real effort in the design of these collections from ASG, BHM and these Galaxy Packs.
These are amazing , love seeing more and more of the older Lebron models being rereleased ; some of which are my favorite Lebron silhouettes. I loved these specific sneakers ten years ago and still do. My only issue is the price ; $240 is a lot , plus another almost $20 in taxes on them in most states. And that $240 represents a $70 increase from the 2012 retail price. I love them either way and Nike is increasing prices across the board it seems but these are a bit steep. Especially considering I want to get a lot of other sneakers for myself releasing soon.
Nike is showing you what it thinks of you as a loyal customer after all these years. By continuing to buy from them (any shoe) you’re showing them that you like being treated like that.
I agree also, i feel Nike's thought process is ( at least with re-retro's ) that the mark up is justified by the point in that it's still below current resell on the 2012 release lol. Smart but brutal at the same damn time!
@@JohnBrown-zh5pd yup , i have to pass on these as much as i love them. Plenty of other releases coming up that I want to hit on for myself ; so can't be spending well over $250 on these.
Been waiting for this video. I wasn’t a Sneakerhead in 2012 and wouldn’t become one till maybe a year or two later (around the time I bought my first retros, white infrared 6’s from 2014). But I remember it was these and those 6’s that got me into sneakers. I always wanted these, especially being a Lebron fan when he was in Miami. Thus, they are a must cop and I will try my best to acquire them.
This whole era with the Concords, Galaxy foams, and this All Star pack shot reselling way over the moon. It was the beginning of the end of reasonable resell prices. I had the original pair and like you, step in comfort was “ok”. My new WTT much more comfortable out of the box. I do want these but $240 is outta control. $230 was on the WTT but that is a different type of retro. These won’t sit but maybe the resell will drop below retail like the WTT has. If we “vote with our wallets” maybe something will change.
These brings back memories! Always wanted a pair! This was during my transition into the sneaker world! I remember my first Jordan’s being the black and red Fly Wade 2s!
Man, that galaxy pack was so nostalgic. I don’t think Nike basketball will ever surpass that era. Hope I can get my hands on those Bron’s! Great video as always.
Don’t forget the Galaxy flight ones and Orlando’s that released at the same time. Those are technically a penny. The Galaxy flight ones might be my favorite shoe from that weekend.
I come from China. Back to 2012, I was a 8th grade student and I got my first basketball sneaker Jordan fly wade 2. But lebron 9 big bang was my favorite. Today I get this pair of shoes finally. Good memories.
10 yrs ago I was still in college I remember buying my very first pair of Nike which is this but a different colorway, i think it was called the Red Mango colorway. This is the shoe that got me in the game. So I will definitely try to cop a pair. 🙏🙏
It's crazy to think this was 10 years ago now. Like, it blows my mind. I remember the guy who did the review with Dwight, Zayax, was at the mall camping out for the galaxy foams and these LeBrons when all the crazy stuff went down. Dope review as always my friend. It's cool to see this colorway drop again after all these years.
Hey Chris, I started a YT Channel about thrifted shoes; I started the channel because of you and the passion that you bring to every video. I have been here for 8+ years. Thank you for inspiring us.
I was able to cop the Kobe 7s and the KD 5. I REALLY wanted the galaxy foams and these Lebron 9s. Happy to see them come back. I remember someone opening their Lebron box while we were waiting in line. Everyone crowded around and said "OOOOUUUU" all in unison. lmao. Those were the times. However, I wasn't as excited for the release this time around. I'm loving the low resell prices though bc I still need to pick up a pair. :) Those Watch The Throne 9s too. Awesome vid bro!
Amen to the M8s! I actually bought the Advance version because of Nightwing's review and they were a beast. If both Airs weren't punctured, I'd still be playing with them right now. Everything else is still working great 💯
Throwback!!!! I got the fly wade 2 Marquette colorway because of your videos, and many more. A golden time for hoop sneakers....Here's to many more years to come.
Man, I was a sophomore in high school when these released. It definitely was a crazy time for Nike with the emergence of the hypebeast and the hype of Nike basketball shoes. I wish I could've gotten any pair but I was just a poor broke high school kid, whose parents laughed at me asking to buy a $160 pair of shoes. Crazy that these retros are now $240, also I noticed because also just got the retro WTT 9s, but Nike completely changed the tongue on the retros. the OGs had a mesh tongue and it was very problematic because the tongue would always get caught on the wing tabs. I also did notice they felt more comfortable than what I remember the OGs feeling like (I had the swingman pair, best colorway IMO) I think they made the insole thicker and maybe did switch out the midsole with a more comfortable foam compound. It'll be interesting to see if Nike releases the Elite model of the 9. I remember watching your videos and going crazy over the tech (the pro combat tongue used in their football line for padding, the softer midsole, and the crazy amount of carbon fiber on them).
Nostalgia seeing these. I feel like a lot of the lebron retros are sitting or not selling out like they used to cause the bright colors and silhouettes haven’t aged well with modern trends
I remember all one of these back in high school man no now they’re easy to get I wish I can tell my past self don’t hype yourself up they will return soon.
i used to own the black/red pair. shoes performed very well. lockdown is superb! beat the hell out of 'em both on and off the court! that was a great year for me. i got the KD4 and Kobe6 afterwards as well. good times!
@@MrVizziato23 sizing is weird. I'd recommend a half a size if you still want a snug feel (some people like that when hooping) or a whole size up if you plan on wearing them casually for the most part. Tight shoes after awhile can really cause issues and hurt like hell
I grabbed the D Rose 2.5 because he's my favorite player. Those shoes were so beast and I played outdoors, indoors, wherever there was basketball. They never disappointed. I finally had to throw them out in 2020 because the traction was pretty much gone.

As a wide footer i went up to a 9.5 even though I think I could have handled it being a little more snug in a 9. What it came down to for me was the arch feeling better placed for me in the 9.5 instead of the 9.
@@MrVizziato23 First things first, my comments were based off of the what i remembered from trying on these on when they originally released. That being said, if I'm remembering correctly the arch in the size 9 felt like it was placed too far forward for my foot and was irritating just walking around in the store. I'd say go up half a size, but only if you can't manage to find both sizes in store to try on first.
D rose was my favorite player of all time back then. I was just starting highschool so my parents got me a pair of the d rose 2.5s in bright orange. I must say that the translucent outsole on that pair didn't work for me. I remember it being very slick compared to the solid outsoles. That being said, if they were to do a resto mod on the 2.5s in any color way i would have to get my hands on a pair

That being said, if they were to do a resto mod on the 2.5s in any color way i would have to get my hands on a pair
thee pic was the fly wade 2 and it was best wade performance in jordan. i hope they make those again in a cheap version. it was realy cheap material but really pllayed well and felt great.
Man, I remember walking into Champs when these dropped. So beautiful.
Mine were delivered yesterday 🔥🔥 so stoked these saw a retro
I have to go up a full size on Lebron retros. The 3 and the 8 are super tight.
The most underrated release of that all star weekend is the air flight 1
Honestly been a sneakerhead since 98-99 I been buyin lebrons every year since model 5 which I still have all the way up to 19... I originally grabbed the Mango lebron 9s 10 years ago which I still have... This is one of my favorite lebron model and I'm torn between these and the watch the thrones 9s... Not gonna lie I may cop both.... 🔥🔥🔥
I remember this all star game. The Hyperdunks on that year are also dope!!!
Swapped the laces for black laces. Game changer.
Got back into collecting in 2009 tried but couldn’t get any of the Galaxy pack, going for these….wish the Bryant family and Nike come back together
Damn…. I want these, but I also need to prepare to pay resale for the south beaches smh
3:18 it was the fly wade 2! How do I know that for sure? Because you’re the reason why I got those shoes 10 years ago! Crazy 🤯
