Can you provide any advice/follow up video on pest control. I do same raised bed and tried 3 sisters (corn, beans, squash) during my fall planting. First I do homemade compost then I solarize with clear plastic for 2 weeks. I got a good crop of corn, but the bugs got to the squash to the extent that I did not harvest a single squash (even with good hand pollination). I got some bugs that parked themselves on my long beans, to the point where I couldn't see the bean anymore. I tried neem oil and spraying with garden hose. They were not convinced that I was in charge.
Yes I have been planning to do a video on pest control for squash. For caterpillars on squash in particular. Are caterpillars the type of bug that ruined your squash? On your beans it sounds like aphids. Were they covering all of your beans or just a few?
@@floridavegetablegardening Thanks I look forward to the next video. Yes I get the caterpillars on the squash, and something else that kills the squash plant over time. Maybe some type of vine borer. The beans get covered in the bugs. I think they may be aphids. I grew up in NY and remember as a kid harvesting bushels of zucchini from just a dozen or so plants. The squash grew bigger than the length of your arm, what a great feeling! Maybe someday I can learn how to do this in FL.
It depends on the time of year and weather conditions. On average I would say about 3 times a week when there isn't any rain. During really hot and dry weather I water almost every other day, but in cool weather, I may only water once or twice a week. If it rains then I skip my next watering.
You are awesome! So very informative I do integrated farming starting my seedlings in soil than transplanting them into a hydroponic system.
Thank you! I'm glad you like the video! :)
Thanks for sharing 😎🏝🏖
You’re quite welcome! 🙂
Wonderful 👏 Thank you

I don't remember if I ask or not. Are you north of Tampa or south?
Slightly north of Tampa. In the southernmost part of Odessa.
@@floridavegetablegardeningThx, I like watching your videos. Very informative, I'm further north but it gives me ideas when to plant.
How often do you water zucchini?
