Oh that was beautiful I was lucky enough to see this gymnast at a competition in my home town, and the audience gasped audibly at the beautiful leaps she did. She really was amazing to watch-so elegant and graceful, and her leaps were miles above the beam!
i wonder what this would score under the current code? It was perfect! She needed to be too, with great performances from ponor, ban, eshova, and even lil li ya! Best world beam event final that I have ever seen and I think I have seen 'em all thanks to youtube!
That's how real beam work should look like!!! Graceful and elegant!!! Not like Shawn Johnson who uses the beam as a second floor exercise to do all her tumbling...To me, Fan Ye's routine is the real routine for a balence beam!!!
This actually was not my favorite beam routine in terms of choreography or execution of said choreography of the 2003 Chinese team. I think some of her teammates were better in that regard and were more compelling to watch. However, she was totally on with the scored elements, and she does well with the details (everything pointed, excellent extension) and her landing was perfect. Obviously the best executed beam routine of the competition and deserving of being one of the highest scored routines of the 2001-2004 cycle.
did she win BB???? another Q..... is she the gymnast who like about a year or 2 ago crashes on tumlbing on beam. tink (?) or floor tumbling and injured her spinal cord? and she was paralized.
It deserved to be too; I dont understand why she didnt get the 10? The only deduction I could maybe see is a tiny adjustment(feet shuffle slightly) when she lands the front-tuck/sheep jump combination, but I dont know if that would be counted as a deductible error? Its the only adjustment I can see-this looks perfect otherwise.
great routine! the commentator is stupid, he says: "she must spend hours on the beam, training"... Every gymnast of that level spend hours on the beam training !!!
One of the most perfect beam sets I've ever seen. She is just fabulous!

well leaps and jumps when executed perfectly like how fan ye did can be more breathtaking than tumbling elements...

I would say that WEF is World Event Finals. And yes what an amazing gymnast- such poise.
Yeah, damn that 01-04 quad, if it was any other quad prior to 2000 she woulda gotten a 10.
she's just amazing! :D

Yes, it was great score though. But it makes you wonder just WHY they didnt give her a 10 doesnt it? Maybe it is illegal;-)
Shawn Johnson truly takes the artistic out of artistic gymnastics.

yes she won... and no she did not injure her spine...
i dun like the fact that the routines had so little tumbling elements.. All leaps and jumps..
BORING!!
