    This car is easy to get off the line if you survived the horrible traction of F1 2022 lol. Personally I only spun out in my first attempt at a standing start but after that I figured out it’s all about the clutch. If you ease off the clutch you won’t get as much wheel spin as just letting it all out once the car start moving. Honestly tho it’s not that difficult to start up an AI race and just practice your standing starts if your really struggling. The problem i see is people just jumping into this car for their first ever race and the only practice start they’ve done is getting out of the pits. I actually really like this car but I don’t think I’ll be participating in the official series since I can already tell it’s gonna an SR killer, just getting off the line is all about survival and trying to avoid anyone spinning out in front.

    Thanks for the great tutorial! Though it seems like when you're showing the replay of starting with the double clutch, the actual replay is from the start without clutch. Also I believe in order to start like this without the clutch you have to have anti-stall clutch enabled in the settings.

    • @stuffeyy
      @stuffeyy  11 месяцев назад +1

      Woopsie 😅...yes anti stall clutch is required and to be honest I highly recommend this assist be turned on anyway if you don't have a double clutch/clutch setup as it provides simplicity in starting a race and to get going again if you come to a stop rather than faffing with turning the car back on while engaging the clutch

    You should set an active reset start and end point and actually do a bunch of testing comparing all these methods. For eg 10 starts of each method and take the average.
    Different throttle amounts, different bite points, different throttle curve linearity etc.
    End point somewhere around the Panasonic board would be a good idea.

    • @stuffeyy
      @stuffeyy  11 месяцев назад

      I'm my brief testing I found the Double Clutch quicker. The bite point allows for a quicker initial getaway than without clutch as it avoids the small wheel spin off the line. As I said tho, it is more complicated and comes with higher risk to not get right.

    Set my bite point on my secondary clutch to 45%. I hold the throttle to no more than 40%. I get off the line quickly and safely.

    I'm curious by you saying you feel each mode of launch control takes off just as fast. Initially I also was assuming that until I realized it's actually not on by default, have to map a button to the 'traction control arm' and then push that button when the car is stopped and in first gear. The in car dash, which is hidden from your view, indicates when it is engaged. Judging by your revs in the demos, you definitely weren't engaging it while in mode 2, :p.
    I feel like the revs down in the lower modes get the car going much slower and the technique for handling those modes a bit more dangerous once you upshift to second as then the low rev mode disengages and you'll be entering second at whatever throttle you were at, thus also being a means of spinning you out, lol. modes 4-6 get the car going pretty well, though also just leaving it off entirely is actually perfectly manageable with your techniques demonstrated here.

    I spent a lot of time trying to get this thing down. The launch control is too awkward as it disengages in second. I was doing double clutch in first but maybe I’ll try the higher bite point as I was using 47. But lately and more consistently I’ve been doing 45 but starting in second. Not super fast but very consistent and not slow either

    Let me know if these techniques work for you or if you have your own start technique....I'm all ears 👂🏻

      No clutch technique works very well for me! Saw you use it on stream and tried it out myself. After a lot of practice starts I feel comfortable starting with this technique.
      Did asked for some more tips over on Discord. Couple minutes before you uploaded this vid! 😂

    Very good video mate. Had my first open SF race today, 3200 SOF of 22 cars. Qualied 8th, up to 5th at turn 1 and then 6th by end of lap.
    A lot of farmers coming through from the back, no point to be silly with them. Surprisingly only 3 or 4 fluffed starts, and a 6000 IR driver donated his Irating to everyone, as clearly his first attempt in the car was qualy.
    Good fun, some amazing 3 way battles into turn 1, for half the race, as there were significant trains building.
    Finished 8th, happy for a clean start. I think if you survive, you will gain a lot of SR and IR as people eventually have a lapse and light up the rears during the race.

    Scott, maybe you forgot one?? I start my cars in first gear But have no throttle until the lights go out then "gently" press the throttle down for the first 3 gears. (Or maybe you covered it not sure?)

    If I only have a foot clutch, is it possible to do a double clutch start with a button on the wheel?

    • @stuffeyy
      @stuffeyy  11 месяцев назад +1

      It is but its quite unreliable in my experience. I would just practice finding the bite point with your foot clutch

    Before even watching I just always shift to second gear after my initial wheel spin in any formula car and typically have a faster launch then most.

  • @Thorwk1

    I mean, even in the official F1 game you can't simply floor the throttle at the start and expect not to spin. I thought iRacing players wouldn't need this kind of lesson.

      Fuji is alright. I don't like the last sector and this car is sketchy through there. Will see how I get on but don't think I'll be doing too many races there this week

      @@stuffeyy yeah I’m finding it really tough, I managed to stop it spinning on the throttle first sectors then keep over rotating and spinning on the brake second last corner 🤡 I can’t win 🤣
