This is the Tommy Shaw masterpiece from 1978's Pieces of Eight album, and what really makes the song are Dennis DeYoung's beautiful and thrilling keyboard solos.
I actually made this video back in 2018 (along with the Great White Hope and I'm Okay videos) but for whatever reason never uploaded it. Really, I was going to re-edit it as split-screen, so technically it was never finished, but now I think it's pretty cool as-is! Видеоклипы
Well done my friend! :) Have a great Christmas time!! See you soon!
Absolutely awesome Dennis! Congrats!
Excellent job on every aspect of the performance of this great Tommy Shaw/Styx song.
INCREDIBLE !!! YOU'RE A GENIUS !!!!
Wow! I'm floored! Can't say enough good things about what I just witnessed. ❤
you are amazing friend! what a great performance!!!
Such an amazing talented artist
Well that was fucking crazy my man! Perfect
Great job Dennis. I have been following you since you were a little kid and you just keep getting better and better. Thanks for keeping the songs from my era alive.
Great job!!
Great job. Nice to see younger generation great musicians doing things like this. The price tag on the acoustic reminded me of Nigel.
Don’t even look at it!!
You've got some skills.👍 That's quite an ambitious undertaking.
Made my day! Thank you!
Couldnt help but notice "This one still has the 'ol tagger on it" 🤣
Love this especially because Tommy Shaw wrote this for his daughter, and my kid covered it. Ha😏. It is very touching for me as it reminds me of the beautiful bond of sharing music between parent and child, and just singing for the day! the moment, and the rest of your life. ✨️🙏 warm fuzzies . Dennis I know you did this some years ago. And like everone says, you just keep getting better and better. Great job Dennis.
Tommy didn't write this song for his daughter. His daughter wasn't born till years later.
@@Mike-hz4jp oh bummer.
@datlas333 there's a RUclips video out there where Tommy is at a high school in Ohio and he tells the story of how the song came about.
Noticed you from Martin Schnella's channel. AMAZING.
Always enjoy these vids, great work as always
all hail Kronos king
Nice work my friend!! I absolutely love it!! ❤️ cheers!! Subscribing Now!!
Would love a piano tutorial video of this by you
That was exceptional! But you do need some friends, lol! J/k
Any tips on how to make the sound for the keyboard?
Most of the sounds you hear me playing come from Logic/Mainstage and a few added plugins like Native Instruments. Of all the Styx songs, Sing for the Day's synth sound is one I've never been able to quite replicate!! The original has this unique flare to it I've never found in another keyboard. That being said, I'm pretty happy with what I came up with for this video. It just came from a long time of trying different layers of synths in ES2 and Retrosynth until it sounded flutey and cool.
Awesome, thanks for the help!
